EXPERIENCE JACKSON SOUTH MEDICAL CENTER EXPANSION AND MODERNIZATION Miami, FL
The $30 Million Jackson South Community Hospital Expansion and Modernization project included renovations and additions to various patient care areas in the South Wing and the Tower buildings. Ross & Baruzzini provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage system (fire alarm, nurse call, security, IT) design for all project areas. The renovations and additions were located at various locations throughout the facility. This required a phased construction approach to reduce the impact on the operations and the facility.
CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF ATLANTA - NORTH DRUID HILLS HOSPITAL CAMPUS MASTER PLAN & REPLACEMENT HOSPITAL Atlanta, GA Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is developing its master plan for its new North Druid Hills campus (72 acres), including a 1.5 million SF replacement hospital, two 300,000+ SF administrative support facilities, a 300,000SF medical office building, and parking decks for over 6,000 vehicles. Ross & Baruzzini provided technology master planning, program management, and complete technology design services for the new hospital, support buildings, and parking decks. In addition to standard healthcare technologies, Ross & Baruzzini is serving as Technology Visionary to develop a road map to ensure that Children’s hospital will be implementing the latest in healthcare, including digital wayfinding, Bluetooth device tracking, patient elopement, and tracking systems, telemedicine, remote rounding, and voice-enabled patient rooms (Alexa, Siri, etc.).

EXPERIENCE SHANDS HOSPITAL SPECIALTY SURGICAL TOWER Miami, FL UF Health Shands main campus has continued a period of renewal and modernization to meet growing volumes and improve access to care and patient experience through the addition of several major towers including a new specialty tower adjacent to the new cancer center which will offer state-of-the-art care to patients with neurologic, neurosurgical, heart or vascular conditions. Our team led visioning services to align these specialties around common technologies to leverage the programmatic and spatial arrangement of the interventional suite to meet the various needs of these unique specialties. In total nearly 18 operating rooms were designed within an integrated platform to leverage common core support elements such as central supply and anesthesia support for neuro and cardiac hybrid rooms, and trauma and general operating rooms. The new specialty tower included nearly 240 beds, acute and intensive care beds, as well as clinics and diagnostic areas for neuro & cardiac assessment, prep and recovery, pharmacy and pathology areas.
AMBULATORY CARE & CANCER CENTER Coral Gables, FL The UHealth System Lennar Foundation is a new ambulatory care center providing an array of outpatient clinical services with a focus on oncology, orthopedics, cardio vascular care, and ophthalmology. The 220,800sf facility has approximately 116 clinics, multi-modality diagnostic imaging, radiation oncology, six surgical suites, interventional radiology, physical and rehabilitation medicine, and support services. UHealth is a long-term client of our firm, our team has worked on multiple campuses since 1999. In addition to equipment planning and procurement services, we also handled all logistics management for the projects. All delivery, placement, and relocation were handled by our logistics and activation team. Our team provided full procurement services facilitating final selections through competitive bids and coordinating final purchase orders for receiving. The project received LEED Silver Certification.

EXPERIENCE BJC INSTITUTE OF HEALTH AT WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE St. Louis, MO
Ross & Baruzzini provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, security, and technology system design services for a new $325 Million, 680,000sf, 11-story, state-of-the-art biomedical research building located in the heart of the Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) campus in St. Louis. This facility was constructed as a joint venture between BJC Healthcare and Washington University. It will house critical research laboratories for both entities and a new kitchen and cafeteria to serve the entire BJC South Campus.
LUDDY HALL, INDIANA UNIVERSITY Bloomington, IN Ross & Baruzzini provided mechanical and fire protection design services for the new $40 Million, four-and-a-half story, 124,000sf School of Informatics and Computer Science building. Highlights of the new building include a 3,500 square-foot innovation center, a flexible incubator environment with space for existing and aspiring entrepreneurial projects at the school, and a 1,500-square-foot fabrication lab that will house maker technologies, such as 3-D printers, in a vibrant, hands-on space.

EXPERIENCE FINANCIAL INSTITUTION HEADQUARTERS AND DATA CENTER Denver, CO CoBank planned to build a new 11-story headquarters dubbed CoBank Center in south suburban Denver, CO. The tower, built in the Denver Tech Center by Shea Properties, includes 296,000 sf of office space and ground-floor retail. CoBank leases the building and occupies 10 of 11 floors. In support of the CoBank migration project, Ross & Baruzzini provided the following services: a detailed review of the MEP construction documents for the new data center, assessment and inventory of the existing MEP and IT infrastructure at the existing data center location, new data center Single Point Of Failure review and analysis, data center infrastructure design decision recommendations, pre-move data center readiness evaluation and data center operations policy and procedure evaluation.
CARD SYSTEM REPLACEMENT / DISTRIBUTED COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM Philadelphia, PA Ross & Baruzzini performed engineering services for a new ComputerAided Radio Dispatch (CARD) System and a separate VHF radio system. We were responsible for assisting with the design, specification, project management, construction, testing, and commissioning of the CARD System under a phased implementation plan intended to implement critical improvements prior to completion of the complete CARD Replacement System. Ross & Baruzzini also provided services for the design of a new underground digital distributed antenna system (DAS) to support the City’s 700/800 MHz radio system as well as future SEPTA 700 MHz channels. Services included radiating cable design, equipment room planning, bi-directional amplifier design, coverage testing, fiber plant and Contractor oversight.

EXPERIENCE NEW BLUFORD & BROOKS HALL UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI - COLUMBIA Columbia, MO
Ross & Baruzzini provided professional MEP/FP engineering services for the demolition of the existing Jones Hall and the construction of two new residence halls and a new dining hall for the University of Missouri. The two new 5-story residence hall buildings total approximately 140,000sf, and the new dining facility is approximately 35,000sf. The new dining facility provides seating for 700-750 guests and includes multiple venues, a private dining room to seat 75-90 guests, and accommodations for late-night dining. The new buildings are cooled from the campus chilled water loop and heated from the campus steam system. LEED Platinum certification was achieved for the project.
MUSEUM OF MODERN ART New York, NY
Ross & Baruzzini served as the security consultant and engineer for the $435 Million redevelopment and expansion of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). MoMA is considered the most influential museum of modern art in the world, with over 3 million visitors per year and a collection of 200,000 works by more than 10,000 artists. Ross & Baruzzini worked directly with the project architects to develop a security plan that incorporated a physical and electronic security system design to provide a security program for MoMA’s collection.

EXPERIENCE PORT AUTHORITY OF NEW YORK & NEW JERSEY, WORLD TRADE CENTER SITE, BUILDINGS, MUSEUM, VEHICLE SCREENING CENTER New York, NY Ross & Baruzzini was retained shortly after 9/11 to assist in the development of a security and protection program for the $20+ Billion redevelopment of the World Trade Center (WTC) site. The firm developed electronic security systems and identified architectural and structural physical security components, architectural design features, and operational security policies, procedures, and staffing plans to implement protection programs specific to these facilities. At 1,776 feet tall, One WTC (originally the Freedom Tower) is one of the most instantly recognizable and iconic structures in the world.
PORT AUTHORITY OF NEW YORK & NEW JERSEY WORLD TRADE CENTER, DOWNTOWN TRANSPORTATION AND CONCOURSE PATH STATION New York, NY Ross & Baruzzini provided security consulting and design services for the $3.74 Billion, 800,000sf state-of-the-art PATH Terminal at the World Trade Center, the third-largest transportation terminal in New York City. The Terminal serves over 200,000 daily commuters and millions of annual visitors. The Terminal connects 11 subway lines, the PATH rail system, and the newly constructed World Trade Center site in the most integrated network of underground pedestrian connections in New York City. In addition to a comprehensive threat and risk assessment, Ross & Baruzzini helped inform the initial electronic security systems design, including access control, video surveillance, digital communications, and IT networks.

EXPERIENCE NEW GLOBAL TERMINAL, O’HARE 21 PROGRAM O’HARE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Chicago, IL
Ross & Baruzzini was hired as the lead technology and security engineer to provide technology, communications, and security system consulting and engineering services for the new Global Terminal at O’Hare International Airport. At 2.2 million square feet, the new O’Hare Global Terminal will be one of the nation’s largest and most cutting-edge terminals. It will more than double the space of the existing Terminal 2, replacing it with an expanded, light-filled arrivals hall. The O’Hare Global Terminal is valued at $2.2 billion and is slated to break ground in 2023.
TERMINAL ONE MODERNIZATION PROGRAM, LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Los Angeles, CA
As part of a $7.3B LAX capital improvement program, the $508M Terminal 1 Renovation and Improvement project is programmed and designed to provide expanded and upgraded facilities for Southwest Airlines’ operations and a smoother, more intuitive “passenger centered” experience in the 346,000SF Terminal. Ross & Baruzzini provided the design of information technology and security systems, including the relocation of the facilities MPOE (service provider entrance), design of new telecommunication spaces and pathways, and the complete replacement of the terminal special systems.
