About this Report This is our inaugural Introba Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Report. In previous years, one of our legacy brand’s (Integral Group) Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) Report has told the story of our performance and impact in a similar manner, and in 2023 we aligned within the Sidara Collaborative to evolve our program to follow a GRI Framework, and ESG structure. This report acts as a supplemental chapter and tells the more detailed story of Introba’s performance over the 2022 fiscal year along with the evolution, highlights, stories and impact from 2023.

I am proud that our commitment to creating a legacy of positive contribution plays out in real time. Our ESG leadership is shown throughout this report. For example, our Zero Carbon Council played a key role in inspiring Sidara to sign on to the World Green Building Council’s Net Zero Carbon Building Commitment. And our ESG team led the creation of Sidara's ESG Roadmaps and Annual Report. While we are excelling in some areas, we know that there is still more work to do. This report sets out our purposeful and impactful goals to achieve by 2030, and we look forward to reporting annually on our progress and learnings along the way. This, our first ever Introba ESG report, marks not the beginning of our journey, but the continued evolution of our devotion to inspiring change and empowering changemakers. Our ESG program uses an “outcomes-based approach” structure. This identifies a desired end state, outlines how each desired outcome can be measured, and establishes a set of targets on a timeline against which our performance can be evaluated. The desired outcomes serve as our long-term goals that we strive actively together to reach, while remaining aware of their inherent challenges and potential barriers that may be outside of our control.

Environment | Performance ENVIRONMENTAL We are committed to achieving net zero carbon operations for Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect) Emissions by 2030

We align our service offerings around decarbonization and acknowledge that the projects we touch have a far greater impact than our footprint alone. Therefore, we holistically prioritize ecology, equity, circularity, and resilience.

ENVIRONMENT

Performance We are aligning our data collection around GRI 302 Energy (EUI) and 305 Emissions. For 2022, the Scope 1 and 2 energy consumption (EUI) and associated GHG emissions for Introba performed better than benchmarked data. Introba’s EUI outperformed benchmarked data by 16%, while our GHG emissions outperformed benchmarked data by 14%. Read more on page 24 of the Sidara Annual Report to gain a full picture of the barriers to overcome and an introduction to our benchmarking solution. While we work towards our goal of achieving net zero, we also aim to reduce both consumption and emissions by 30% by 2030. In 2022 and 2023 we identified opportunities to make progress on these goals by strategies such as: • Moving our operations to more efficient buildings or merging closely situated offices with our sister companies • Advocating for our landlords to consider cleaner energy solutions and reduction measures Through our continued World Green Building Council Net Zero Carbon Buildings Challenge commitment, we will release our Implementation Plan in the coming year to map our full journey toward a net zero future. As we continue to evolve our data tracking and reporting, we will look to expand this category to cover all Environmental Dimensions including; refrigerants, water consumption, operational waste, business travel, employee commute and supply chain.

World Green Building Council (WGBC) Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment “The Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment (the Commitment) recognizes leadership action by businesses, organizations, cities and subnational governments in tackling operational and embodied carbon emissions from the building and construction sector. This requires deep collaboration across the entire value chain, and radical transformation in the way buildings are designed, built, occupied and deconstructed. It requires new business models that promote circularity, re-use of buildings and materials, whole life cycle thinking, high performance operations, and ultimately a shift away from fossil fuels.” – WGBC The Commitment As a founding signatory of the commitment (legacy Integral Group), our Zero Carbon Council has continued to work on our carbon reduction strategy, and our impact has been spread throughout the industry by thought leaders within the firm .

Introba’s WGBC Commitment: 1. Commit | Commit to occupying operational net zero carbon assets by 2030 for brands within the TY Lin International Group (TY Lin, Introba, Landrum & Brown). All new construction and major renovations of existing assets to be net zero embodied carbon by 2030. 2. Zero Carbon Council

MEP 2040 Challenge

Our Zero Carbon Council was formed in 2019 (legacy Integral Group) and has evolved along with our ESG program. This team consists of representatives from across our operating regions who work toward a common goal – decarbonization and taking action to combat the climate crisis.

The built environment is responsible for around 40% of global energy use and emission, and as leaders in the built environment, we see that as an invitation to solve a problem. We proudly support the Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF) as a signatory member of the MEP 2040 Challenge. To address the impact of the built environment on climate change, systems engineers have a critical role to play in both operational and embodied carbon and need to embrace a whole life carbon approach to MEP design, inclusive of fugitive emissions from refrigerants.

The Zero Carbon Council’s purpose is to map, action, and track progress on our zero carbon commitments. The council is currently amending Our Zero Carbon Operations Action our Zero Carbon Operations Action Plan to capture all of TY Lin International Group’s brands and grow our impact further. The council will then map our Implementation Plan, in line with the WGBC Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment.

Impact Fund Our Impact Fund is centered around creating a positive global impact on the built environment. Running on an annual basis, the Impact Fund specifically supports thought leadership and transformational initiatives around sustainability and digital innovation. The aim of this work is to share our findings and insights to the whole industry to create collective knowledge and action. Sustainability Thought Leadership within the Impact Fund produces projects, studies, essays, and industry advice that provide new insights into how we perceive, design and build our human environment. It is an opportunity to reflect, question, think big, and offer solutions to make our world more resilient, just, and regenerative.

We have deeper involvement within the MEP 2040 commitment with team members sitting on the Steering Committee and participating in working groups for the Challenge, such as the Data, Analysis & Reporting working group and Manufacturers and EPDs working group.

Hidden Emissions of the Cloud: Examining Embodied Carbon and Cost Impacts of Data Center Cooling Technologies Data centers are large consumers of energy owing to the high amount of computing power required to operate servers and networking equipment. Additionally, significant cooling is needed to maintain optimal indoor temperatures to keep these servers and networking equipment operational. This study proposes a holistic approach to data center sustainability, one that conscientiously addresses both operational and embodied carbon emissions. It delves into a crucial yet often overlooked aspect - embodied carbon emissions associated with data center MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) equipment over their life cycle.

Canada’s First Zero-Carbon Fire Hall Opens in Vancouver

Introba Partners with Green Building Council of Australia

The City of Vancouver officially opened the doors at Fire Hall #17, the first Zero Carbon Building design (ZCB) certified fire hall in Canada and the first ZCB-certified project in British Columbia. Our team provided a wide range of services for this state-of-the-art facility for Vancouver firefighters, including mechanical, electrical, fire protection, lighting design, and communication/security.

Since June 2018, we have sponsored and advocated for the Green Building Council of Australia's (GBCA) Carbon Positive Roadmap. The initiative was built off the success of the World Green Building Council's Zero Carbon Building Commitment, aimed at paving the way for a carbon-positive future. In 2023, we became a Silver Sponsor of the TRANSFORM conference. Focusing on the urgency of the climate crisis and valuing nature, this conference aligned with our values and the research conducted through our Impact Fund.

Fire Hall 17 is a trailblazer; it was designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 97% compared with the previous existing facility. This will be achieved via a high-performance building envelope, geo-exchange heat pumps, and an on-site solar PV array. The new fire hall is well on the way to achieving Passive House certification. Fire Hall 17 has already achieved LEED Gold certification and Net Zero Energy, as defined by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. Other Canadian communities have studied this project to learn lessons on boosting the energy efficiency of their service buildings.

Borealis | Carbon Capture Technology: Part of a Solution to Meet out 1.5degree Climate target? This study investigates direct-air carbon capture (DAC) technology, which removes CO2 from the air and integrates it into buildings. It assesses DAC’s environmental impact, cost, and comparison to renewables, emphasizing the need for a decarbonized grid. Future phases explore DAC’s other applications, like low-GWP refrigerants and fertilizers.

Canada’s Federal Government Invests in Energy Efficient Buildings with Introba

Second Edition of Whole Life Carbon Assessment Standard Leads the Way for Global Decarbonization

The Canadian government announced federal funding for built environment partners, including Introba, in driving innovative solutions for decarbonization and energy efficiency for the province of British Columbia.

Two members of our UK Sustainability team were proud co-authors of the second edition of the Whole Life Carbon Assessment for the Built Environment standard (WLCA), recently released in the UK by RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). Louise Hamot, Global Lead of Sustainable Innovation, and Clara Bagenal George, Associate, worked with other industry leaders to develop this groundbreaking guide. Their primary focus areas were on operational carbon, in particular energy usage, and embodied carbon as it relates to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

The investment supports our ongoing work with the provincial government of B.C. and other local industry partners via the Net-Zero Energy-Ready Challenge as part of the Better Buildings BC program. This innovative program — which Introba designed and launched in 2018 —provides incentives and support to high-rise residential, office, retail/commercial, institutional, and other large complex building projects designed to meet a net-zero energy-ready level of performance.

“The Better Buildings BC program will collate real data to assess how these buildings are performing that will help us assess and close the performance gap, and then share those learnings across the industry,” says Stuart Hood, Vice President, Institutional. “We will be able to identify successful design strategies that achieve high levels of performance, as well as meet other criteria, such as the health and well-being of building occupants and climate resilience.”

Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) performance is a key measure of our business and a reflection of our values and internal culture. By Our diverse and inclusive employee community, with its wide array of perspectives, is foundational to our ability to innovate and stay resilient as providing OH&S training to employees, we ensure our people feel a business. We continue to push for fair and inclusive representation at all confident and understand our commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing. employee levels and disciplines throughout our organization. Our workforce is comprised of 31.5% women, which, although marked as a “good” performance when benchmarked against industry averages, we realize there is much work to do while working towards our goal of gender parity by 2030. Through our commitment to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), we are equipped with resources, community and guidance to make our ambitious gender equality goals a reality. Through our Women’s Employee Resource Group and Women’s Empowerment Initiative Task Force, along with support from our Executive and Leadership teams, we are inspired to work collaboratively to foster business practices that empower women. The analysis on Gender Pay Equity Distribution has demonstrated our progress and areas of success as well as provided clarity on where gaps still exist within specific areas of our operations. We are proud to share that we provide gender pay equity within our workforce. The results in the remuneration graph to the right show: • 100% means 1:1 male to female pay ratio (achieving gender pay equity)

Our employees generally engage in activities with low safety risk. This risk can be elevated when visiting client sites. Safe Work Practices have been developed and communicated to address those elevated risks such as Driving on Company Business, Working at Heights and Working Near Heavy Equipment. We empower our employees to identify any hazards and control them. The focus is on prevention, but should an employee have a physical impact due to their work activities, we have engaged a third-party occupational health partner that can provide medical advice and guidance on self-care within one hour of discomfort or injury. Timely care and advice ensure the best possible outcome for any employee experiencing any physical impact from their work activities.

Social | Programs & Initiatives Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) Our ERGs are voluntary, team member-led groups focused on fostering diversity, inclusion and belonging. These groups help team members build strong connections, offer social, educational, and outreach activities, create development opportunities for future leaders, and work towards elevating and prioritizing the unique needs of our diverse workforce. Our ERGs also operate as diverse advisory councils for corporate teams on items such as policies, benefits, communications, social impact strategy and more.

Women’s ERG | The intention of this ERG is to connect, support, empower and include women as an under-represented group within the firm. The Women’s ERG focused on International Women’s Day in 2023 in alignment with the United Nations Women's theme IWD Day, Cracking the Code, by highlighting the role that bold, transformative ideas, inclusive technologies, and accessible education can play in combatting discrimination and the marginalization of women globally. Through a diversity of thought leadership and supporting female staff to show up as their authentic selves, we seek to empower women to mentor and become changemakers and build lasting legacies of impact and excellence. The Women’s ERG also hosted a panel event for all staff in honor of International Women in Engineering Day that touched on topics such as biases, mentorship, and allyship.

Fruity Family (LGBTQ2IA+) ERG | This ERG’s mission is to foster an inclusive workplace culture that supports and empowers the LGBTQ2IA+ employee community by embracing their unique intersectional needs. This community is made up of intersecting identities and multiple histories. It is equitable, respectful, and meaningfully engaged in challenging systemic oppression while advancing a culture of inclusion. Pride Month is an on ongoing month of celebration, history, education, and connection for the Fruity Family, and for the fourth consecutive year, they hosted their annual Pride Event for all staff.

Healthy Heads | This ERG is a space for those interested in creating a community around Mental Health, while normalizing and working to break the stigma that surrounds it. Healthy Heads aims to support employee's mental and emotional health, talk openly, educate, and direct employees to the resources available to support them. In 2023, inspired by our colleagues at Currie & Brown, fellow members of Sidara, Introba held its first annual Wellness Week in alignment with World Mental Health Day to support employee health and well-being and infuse a little extra fun into everyone’s week. The week’s wellness focus included challenges, prizes, webinars, and educational aspects related to physical health, mindfulness, building resilience, and more.

Majority Minority ERG | Formerly the BIPOC ERG, this is a space for employees from diverse backgrounds (including but not limited to racial and ethnic minorities, religious minorities, and more) and allies to unite, support one another, share experiences, and develop ways to achieve goals. The ERG strives to elevate the voices and prioritize the needs of our firm’s diverse employees. The Majority Minority ERG hosted an all-staff event in 2023, in honor of Diversity Awareness Month. The “Celebrating Diversity at Introba” event featured guest speaker Jennifer Lee, SVP, General Counsel TY Lin International Group, and a Q+A panel of representatives from each of our ERGs to take part in an open conversation around diversity in the workplace with all staff. In 2023 we ran our first annual Gallup Employee Engagement Survey, with an aggregate scoring of 76% engagement. After the survey, results were reviewed across the firm and each leader was given their team’s engagement data. They then conducted collaborative action-planning workshops with their teams to discuss specific team results and to commit to taking action to improve together. The outcome of those sessions are the 87 engagement action plans which currently exist for our teams.

Tell Us More Organic Mentorship Program Mentorship is a key piece of the puzzle when it comes to nurturing and growing talent within the firm. Focused on developing, supporting, building confidence, and guiding employees in their career paths, the Tell Us More mentorship program offers organic avenues to mentorship. With a diverse group of mentors available across the globe, employees may select the right fit for them to build and leverage the mentorship relationship to best suit their unique needs. The program aims to provide organic opportunities to strengthen connections across the firm and allow everyone access to tap into the skills and expertise of the firm’s top leaders.

Regional Reconciliation Action Plans We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work. We recognize the continued connection to the lands, waters, communities and cultures and pay respect to the ancestors, elders and decedents who have cared for the land for time immemorial. Our Australian and Canadian regions respectively have Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) committees who are working towards the creation and continued action of regional RAPs.

These groups are working with relevant Indigenous led/centered organizations, such as Reconciliation Australia and the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business’s Par Program, to ensure respectful, meaningful, and tangible progress is made towards repairing, restoring, and strengthening our relationships with Indigenous Peoples. In 2023 Introba launched its inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan in Australia. ​This Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) aims to strengthen our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people in Australia. It will also provide our Australian colleagues with the tools to advance reconciliation and learn more about the rich culture of First Nations peoples. We worked with Reconciliation Australia to develop the RAP, and their endorsement means Introba is now officially accredited as an organization in the RAP network. Our Australian RAP commissioned Aboriginal Art by Lani to create an artwork that represented our journey and commitment to building relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians. The artwork tells the story of Introba as a company, our connection with our employees, the community and the relationships we are building with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

An exciting development in 2023 came to fruition, where a portion of these funds has been channeled through our four Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to extend the ERG reach and impact, supporting causes connected to their mission and goals. By providing employees with four paid volunteer hours annually, Introba Gives empowers our people to get involved in their communities. We saw record engagement within the volunteer program uptake in 2023, with both group and individual volunteering taking place throughout the year.

Canada’s Indigenous Scholarship Award | In 2023 our Canadian Team launched the annual Indigenous Scholarship program through Introba Gives which awarded an Indigenous student studying engineering with a financial scholarship, along with an 8-month work placement in our offices. This program has been so successful that it will be expanded in 2024 to offer two scholarship awards. Phil Santore Featured in Security Magazine Article with Focus on Mental Health

This essay explores the harmony between regenerative practice and Indigenous viewpoints on living systems. It calls for the building industry to transition from a degenerative to a regenerative approach, prioritizing the question of “what does good look like?” in relation to sustainability. It asserts that the industry can combat climate change by adopting regenerative practices inspired by Indigenous wisdom.

Breathable buildings aim to blend natural elements with architecture to promote health, reduce energy use, and enhance well-being. This study explores the drivers for natural ventilation in modern building design, including the impact of COVID-19 on workplaces, industry advocacy for healthier buildings, occupant health benefits, and climate concerns.

Phil Santore, Security Vice President and Managing Principal, spoke with Security Magazine on how safety and security stakeholders can empower students and staff to help mitigate mental health issues, violence, or unwanted behaviors by starting with facility design: “To build or create an environment indicative of a negative place paints a picture that students see. Everything you put in front of them says something to them, even nonverbally,” Santore says. “When you stop thinking like a security professional and start thinking like an educator, parent, or child, you can do some wonderful things.”

Performance As a member of the Sidara, our governance performance is captured at the collective level for many elements, such as governing bodies and structure. Sidara maintains a well-established governance structure comprising a Board of Directors and five standing committees: Audit Committee, Leadership Development Committee, Investment Committee, Executive Committee, and Risk Committee. This structure is designed to establish governance from the top down, with the Board and its Committees providing oversight and guidance to the Pillars. Over the last 18 months, this structure has expanded to include the establishment of Sustainability, Digital, and Innovation Councils, which provide concentrated focus by professionals with the requisite knowledge and expertise. Our policies and procedures support this position and we implement mandatory annual Anti Bribery and Corruption eLearning to educate and train staff on compliance on a regular, recurring basis. Due Diligence | We conduct due diligence at a group level through Sidara. Sidara has procured, set up, and implemented a risk-based assessment solution for clients, suppliers, sub consultants, subcontractors, and other business partners via a due diligence tool provided by Dow Jones. This enables all brands within Sidara to undertake detailed due diligence checks for issues such as sanctions, money laundering, adverse media, and modern slavery violations. Clayton Community Centre: Real-World HighPerformance Evaluation

In this Introba report, we examined how the AV industry is changing rapidly. The siloed approaches of the past no longer meet clients’ evolving expectations around being able to monitor and maintain AV systems while considering cybersecurity, scalability, reliability, and flexibility. Instead, there is a growing need and demand for AV software to keep pace with emerging requirements.

We are proud to announce that it has been awarded a Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program contract. Sourcewell, formerly known as the National Joint Powers Alliance® (NJPA), enables public purchasing agents to confidently procure products and services through the collective buying power of over 50,000 public entities. Contracted vendors and suppliers are rigorously vetted, ensuring public projects are priced competitively and sourced compliantly with all solicitation requirements. Participating in Sourcewell’s purchasing program also enables public procurement agents and non-profit organizations to streamline their purchasing process, saving valuable time and money and providing additional resource transparency for their stakeholders.

We believe the lack of transparency in the construction industry slows down the evolution and improvement of building design. As part of the Impact Fund program, the design team revisited Clayton Community Centre, Canada’s one-time largest Passive House building to date, to check whether its performance, following its first full year of operation since COVID-19, lived up to its design credentials. By sharing what the design team learned from this project, Introba seeks to answer two questions: is the actual energy consumption in line with the design calculations, and was Passive House a good fit for a large, non-domestic building? The team was delighted that the study’s results were overwhelmingly positive, showing Passive House does deliver on its promises of minimal energy for large, commercial buildings — a valuable insight for future projects.
