Whoever in Nicaragua wants to use a data card to connect his computer to the internet finds two providers that offer a Prepaid Service: Movistar and Claro. The price for the data card, along with a 10-hour- credit, costs between $36 and $58. Simply showing a piece of ID is needed. A residency in Nicaragua isn’t necessary. At the ICE Telecom Company in Costa Rica, a computer data card can only be gotten with a contract. However, for a cell-phone, there’s the usual SIM-card as a pre-paid solution that can also be used to access the internet. With additional telecommunication providers entering the market, there will probably be more offers this year.

er in Nicaragua mit einer Datenkarte seinen Computer mit dem Internet verbinden möchte, findet nun zwei Anbieter, die auch einen Prepaid-Service anbieten: Movistar und Claro. Die Preise für die Datenkarte samt 10 Stunden Guthaben liegen zwischen 36 und 58 Dollar. Notwendig ist lediglich die Vorlage eines Ausweises, ein Wohnsitz in Nicaragua ist nicht erforderlich. In Costa Rica gibt es beim Telekomunternehmen ICE eine Datenkarte für den Computer nur mit Vertrag, nicht als Prepaid-Service. Für das Handy gibt es jedoch eine übliche Sim-Karte als Prepaid-Lösung, die mit dem Telefon auch für den Zugang zum Internet genutzt werden kann. Mit dem Markteintritt von zusätzlichen Telekom-Anbietern wird es vermutlich noch in diesem Jahr weitere Angebote geben.
