what do we believe?

jesus is our salvation

He is the only rescue from sin and its consequences. He accomplishes this by living the perfect life we could never live, by dying in our place and therefore taking the punishment we deserve because of our sin, and by rising again to life paving the way for eternal life with Jesus, free from sin and its consequences.

Head Heart

This belief that sin must be paid for and that Jesus is the only sacrifice for sin and therefore the only way to salvation has been the most criticized belief of Christianity since Jesus founded our faith 200 years ago. Therefore, as Christians we must be absolutely clear in our understanding of this truth. Spend some time discussing these two objections to this belief: hebrew 9:22-28

1. Why is Christianity so exclusive (Jesus is the only way)?

2. Why does God send people to hell for not putting their faith in Jesus?

Have you trusted in Jesus as the only forgiveness for your sins? If so, how does this truth affect the way you live as a Christian? Do you continually rely on Gods’ grace to sanctify you, or do you find that you rely upon grace for salvation but when it comes to sanctification you rely upon your own strength?

We have said before that the Christian life is not lived alone; this truth applies to how we share the Gospel as well. What does it look like to help each other in your family/group share the Gospel with your friends or family members who don’t yet know Jesus?

Do all of your immediate neighbors know Jesus? If not, or if you don’t know, make a plan to get to know your neighbors better this week with the aim of pointing them to Jesus.

All sin must be paid for in blood. Jesus, through His death, offers himself as a sacrifice once and for all for our sin. Spend time as a group/family thanking God for the sacrifice of His Son Jesus for us.
