The Holy Spirit is sent by The Father & The Son, after Jesus rose from the dead and ascended, to witness to and glorify Jesus.

john 16:7-15

Discuss why it is better that Jesus went away like verse 7 said. Why is having the Spirit better than having Jesus face to face for a time?

In John 16 we see that The Spirit was sent in order to witness to and glorify Jesus. All that He does is aimed at that end. How should this truth shape our understanding of The Holy Spirits’ work in our lives?

We see in John 16 that The Spirit comes to witness to and teach about Jesus. The main way the Spirit teaches us about Jesus is through His Scripture. When you are reading the Bible do you regularly pray asking the Spirit to reveal and teach you its meaning as you read?

The last several weeks we have been learning about Jesus and were encouraged to read the stories from the Gospels in order to know Him more. This week read from one of the 4 Gospels again, but as you read ask the Spirit to show you who Jesus is.

The primary way that the Spirit witnesses to and glorifies Jesus is through His church. Spend time praying this week for God to put people in your life who you can share the Gospel with. Ask Him to send The Spirit to work in that person’s heart to receive the Gospel.
