jeremiah 2:12-13

When we truly find joy in God we want to share that joy with others. Who is one person that your family or group knows who doesn’t yet know Jesus? Pray for them this week that they will finally find joy in God and experience their true purpose.

Here we see a summary of the evil that Israel committed which led to their exile. At the heart of their sin is that Israel did not desire God but instead desired lesser corrupted things (broken cisterns). This is the root of all sin, we hate what is good and love what is evil. This means that because of sin we are unable to fulfill our purpose as human beings. This pursuit of lesser things never satisfies us and without God we are restless and unsatisfied.

Discuss a time when you have felt this restlessness in the past even after you got what you thought you wanted.
