Mission

We are committed to providing high quality park, recreation, family and cultural services and facilities that inspire enjoyment, learning and wellness in the lives of those who live, work and play in Lakewood.

Goals 85% STRATEGIES complete

Notable accomplishments:

• Acquired 117 acres of parkland

• Replaced seven playgrounds

• Remodeled Glennon Heights Pool

• Added a community garden at Jefferson Green Park

• Expanded the Bear Creek Trail to reduce user conflicts

• Converted 16 parks and facilities to be powered by 100% renewable energy

• Art installation of “Echos and Reflections: Lakewood’s 50th Anniversary” in Addenbrooke Park

• Installed two new outdoor Fitness Courts

• Opened a universally accessible playground at Carmody Park

• Celebrated 41 years recognized as Tree City USA

• Supported 3,600 residents with financial assistance through the Lakewood Possibilities Fund

The 2023 Imagine Tomorrow! arts, parks and recreation for all master plan charts the course for the next decade of Lakewood’s investment and programming for parks, recreation and the arts. The plan addresses current challenges, determines strategies for meeting future demands and establishes priorities for achieving the community’s shared vision.
