Solemn Profession of Faith

David Pope during Vespers in honour of Our Blessed Mother Mary placed his hand on the Bible and made a solemn profession of faith by reciting the Nicene Creed in preparation for his ordination to the Sacred Diaconate.

With Christian obedience I shall follow what the Bishops, as authentic doctors and teachers of the faith, declare, or what they, as those who govern the church establish.

I shall also faithfully assist the diocesan Bishops, my Parish Priest, and my brother Deacons, so that the apostolic activity, exercised in their name and by mandate of the Church, may be carried out in communion with the Church. So help me God, and God’s Holy Gospels on which I place my hand.

The congregation responded by saying: And may this community of the Parishes of St Joseph’s Ansdell and St Peter’s Lytham, assist the ministry of all who deign to serve God and his Church, with their prayers and fellowship. Amen.
