Teaching and Research Excellence. At Bangor, we’ve been teaching high-calibre undergraduate degrees for nearly 40 years. Over this time we’ve attracted world-leading academic staff who have helped to create some of the UK’s best sport science degree programmes. And all our teaching is backed up by outstanding, world-class research. So, as a student at Bangor, you’ll get brilliant teaching from people who are leaders in your field of study. “I am impressed by the work I see – both in terms of student achievement and in terms of the content and aims of the modules to be grounded in contemporary research. It is a clear strength of the department and the teaching staff.” Professor Marc Jones, External Examiner, With an annual intake of approximately 150 undergraduates, we’re much smaller than a lot of other university sport science schools. Everyone knows each other and we pride ourselves in being one of the friendliest departments in a friendly university. We have an ‘open door’ policy so that you can sign up for tutorials with any of our staff.

Sport and Outdoor Activities at Bangor. In our experience, most of our students like to do sport as well as learn about it. The University has a number of very popular sports clubs and societies, and is probably the best place in the UK to study if you love outdoor and adventurous sports. Our unique location between Anglesey, the Menai Strait and the Snowdonia National Park means there’s great walking, running, climbing, rowing, kayaking and sailing right on our doorstep. As a student you’ll have access to all this, plus our extensive sports and recreation facilities. •

The Canolfan Brailsford Sports complex contains sports halls, gyms, weight and cardiovascular rooms, international-standard squash courts, a ‘Livingstone’ climbing wall, sports dome and outdoor pitches.

Boost your job prospects. To help you go further with your Bangor degree, you can develop additional skills, gain qualifications and complete work experience that’s relevant both to your degree and your future career. This means that you don’t only come out with a highly-respected degree, but also with an enhanced CV that shows off the transferable skills you’ll need to excel in a competitive job market. •

95% of SHES students are either working or in further study within six months of graduating (UniStats 2018).
