Sarah Carruth and Stephen Barrera are from the Houston area and had a lot of family precede them at Texas A&M. Though they didn’t know each other, they started college on the same day. Sarah studied civil engineering, pledged a sorority and joined the Aggie Dance Team. Stephen played football, worked on an undergraduate degree in Construction Science, and volunteered in the community through Aggie Athletes Involved and Big Event.

As a member of the Dance Team, Sarah performed at the women’s basketball national championship. Stephen watched the televised game with friends and couldn’t stop talking about “the pretty blue-eyed girl at the end.” Later, he procured an invitation to Sarah’s sorority formal, and introduced himself to her. They sat on a dock at the rustic event venue and talked for hours. They spent the rest of their college years as a couple. After graduation, Sarah returned to Houston and Stephen remained in College Station pursuing his Master’s Degree in Land Development.

His graduation night turned out to be a big night for both of them.“I’ve never been so proud as when he walked across the stage and culminated many years of hard work and secured a bright future for himself,” she recalls. Following the ceremony her friend drove her to Stephen’s graduation party, they turned down a dirt road, saw a moonlit pond surrounded by twinkling trees; on the dock was a tall figure in a suit. She realized it was Stephen. He helped her out of the car and walked her to the spot they
sat and talked years before, at her sorority formal, on the night they met. Stephen told her he’d love nothing more than to take care of her, make her feel safe, happy and loved for the rest of her life. Sarah yelled, “Yes!” They walked from the dock through a lit, rustic archway where family and friends who were “too busy” to attend his graduation were waiting with a million hugs and congratulations. “Little did I know, as he worked his way through school, all he could think about was our future together,” she says.

The ring Stephen designed has special meaning. When you look at it from the side, you’ll see three pink diamonds representing her mom, aunt and grandmother; all breast cancer survivors. “A reminder that our love will require hard work but will endure all things,” says Sarah. Sarah and her mother attended the Bridal Extravaganza in Houston looking for wedding ideas. “We feel grateful to have resources in Houston, like the Bridal Extravaganza. I saw the billboards the week after we got engaged and was so ecstatic to go look for inspiration.” Now Sarah is the Billboard Bride and her image will grace giant billboards throughout the Greater Houston area, inviting lucky brides-to-be to the GRB Convention Center to enjoy two full days of wedding inspiration.

Heather Benge from Heather Benge Events pulled some of Houston’s top wedding vendors together to create a historically elegant photo shoot for the billboard. Five gowns from the vast assortment at Ventura’s Bridal Fashions were carefully selected and all fit Sarah perfectly. Butler’s Courtyard in League City, with it’s indoor and outdoor spaces, was the perfect location to highlight the beautiful gowns. The natural light and exposed brick created an industrial feel. Tones of blush, peach, ivory and navy, along with metals, and non-traditional centerpieces enhanced the industrial romance vibe. Edible Designs by Jessie incorporated the color scheme into sugar flowers to create a breathtaking cake. The linens selected by Over the Top Linen brought the entire look together.
Gabby Camacho from Edward Sanchez Cosmetics handled hair and makeup. My Urban Invites created all the paper needs, F. Dellit Designs created the floral arrangements, and ANA&IVAN photography captured every look.

The Sage Hill Inn Above Onion Creek is great for quick weekend getaways. Their newly renovated, four-room spa is beautifully located among the vast floral and vegetable gardens. An hour-long massage quickly erased memories of the two-hour drive down I-10.

At Sage Hill, you get to know your fellow guests. Dinners and breakfasts are included with your room rate and are served family style.This is a BYOB establishment, so plan accordingly. The chef strives to serve the freshest ingredients farm to table. The evening we visited, fish was
served atop quinoa with a side of Brussels sprouts. At breakfast the next morning, we indulged in eggs benedict with sausage and freshly baked bread. The 15 individual rooms are quite large and most have two porches; one to watch the sun rise; one to see it set. Each suite is individually named. We stayed in the Martin King Room, named for a U.S. Marshall who opened the first business in Kyle, a saloon and meat market. This suite was recently renovated from top-to-bottom; and includes a double marble walk-in shower, large seating area in front of the fireplace, huge flat-screen
HDTV and desk. The spacious bathroom has a very generous closet, large shower and is adorned with beautiful tile. All rooms are equipped with a DVD player, satellite television, free wireless Internet, and a refrigerator stocked with water, sparkling water and soda.

The grounds include an outdoor fire pit, pool, Jacuzzi and library with an extensive selection of DVDs, books and games. At lunch on the first day I met a couple from Dallas who were getting married at sea in two days. It turns out that couples sailing aboard the ultramodern ship can now legally say “I Do” with the cruise line’s enhanced wedding offerings. They showed me personalized stationary for the wedding announcement (save the date card) and invitation. MSC Cruises is now offering couples the option of getting married shipboard or shore side in several Caribbean destinations, including: Bridgetown, Barbados; Cozumel; Grand Cayman; Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; St. Thomas; St. Maarten and a few other ports.

i just took my latest cruise (10 so far) out of Miami on the MSC Divina. The ship is like being in little italy.

For me, the best part was the ship offers a wide-variety of locations for romantic photo opportunities with the most popular locations including a traditional photo along one of the Swarovski crystal staircases and a trendy photo by the Garden infinity pool overlooking the shipâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s wake. But since I am already married I wanted to check out the entertainment. The ship had six different shows on the 7-night cruise. I enjoyed opera, an entertaining pirate show, exhilarating acrobatic feats, classical musicians and Broadway-style productions. After being on ten cruises I can say that the entertainment was among the best at sea. It was like being in Italy or Las Vegas. Idea: order a glass of red wine and get a seat upfront.
Partnering with The Wedding Experience, MSC Cruisesâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; event planners work with couples to handle all the details of planning the wedding or vow renewal, including providing a wedding consultant leading up to the wedding and a ceremony coordinator for the big day. Ceremonies and reception are completely customizable with options for everything from photography and videographer packages, music, fresh flowers, food and beverage packages, and specialty items such as favors and aisle runners.
One more thing: the food was great. Each night I had a different meal with wine from Italy and Europe. Like most ships the Divina has several specialty restaurants. The only problem was I gained a few pounds on the trip.

selecting a shower theme is the most difficult part of the party throwing process. i recommend visiting a linen company first. at over The top Linens, i could see the colors and textures and let my imagination work. once i saw the gold chevron linens, i knew my theme would be great gatsby.

Crystal and Jason knew each other in high school, but never would have dated then! They were two very different people running in different circles with different friends, but Jason’s sister was Crystal’s friend. Fast forward 17 years, they reconnected at Crystal’s brother’s birthday party. Months later, the first date happened and they were never apart again. The destination wedding was held in san diego, two hours from the couple’s current California home. Jason’s family flew in from dallas and Crystal welcomed former

Four years into their relationship, Brandon popped the question in new orleans, la. new orleans was the first trip they made as a couple, a place Brandon loved; it grew on danielle. it became a traditional jaunt every year. “our trips had come full circle and i couldn’t be happier to spend yet another vacation in new orleans with the man i love.”

On one of their anniversary weekends, they stopped at Blue Bell and a few other fun places on their way to lake travis. Building on Love
lindsay and adam met years ago in the building industry. However, they did not get off on the right foot. she was a tough customer and he was a typical sales person. as the years went on, the two became friends and ultimately fell in love. They had purchased property on a hill north of san antonio about a year and a half before they got married. adam took lindsay up to the top of the hill and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course she said yes, and the planning began!

Heather and robert have known each other since Junior High, but it was after her birthday dinner at ruth’s Chris she knew their relationship would last forever. robert was noticeably uncomfortable when he insisted they go for an after dinner walk through the museum district that cold evening. as they stood on a bridge in the cool air, Heather turned to ask him what was wrong; he was already on one knee proposing. Their wedding took place on november 10, 2013 at george ranch in richmond, tX. Heather walked down the aisle in a david’s bridal mermaid dress with a sweetheart neckline, decorated with lace and beads. Most of the details for the wedding were homemade by close family and friends, adding new levels of emotion to their ceremony. The wedding cake was built out of homemade chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. instead of having a groom’s cake they had a smore’s bar. – Patricia rivera

on July 2nd 2011, while Chelsea and her boyfriend, stephen Blake Jenkins, were at her parent’s lake house, Chelsea had no idea her life was about to change. while out on the boat, right at dusk, Blake asked Chelsea to be his wife, and with no doubts, she said, “Yes.” The entire family ran out to congratulate her and they spent the night celebrating. City kitchen made the wedding cake, using Chelsea’s grandmother’s recipe. The special family recipe was used to bake a one-layer cake for the bride and groom, cupcakes for the guests.

They wed at the a.d. Bruce religion Center Chapel at the University of houston. The location was special to them; they used to spend time there disconnecting from the world. Janie looked like a princess walking down the aisle in a gown by allure Couture. The 5-tier cake from MeB Cakes even had a bottom layer matching the ruffles on her wedding dress. check out etsy for cute wedding details – i ordered a ton of stuff on there - a Just Married sign for the trolley, framed chalkboards for bar menus, bridesmaid necklaces, lego cufflinks for the groomsmen, and lots of other things. it’s so easy to get caught up in personalizing every little aspect of your wedding. step back and think about what really matters to your guests – food, drink, music, and most of all celebrating with you! do your due diligence on the tux provider, ours was VerY disorganized and up to an hour before the ceremony not everyone had all of their outfit parts!
The two-ring ceremony was held in austin, Texas at smith Family chapel at riverbend church; the reception at Barr Mansion & artisian Ballroom. Julie wore a Tracey style gown designed by sottero & Midgley. The italian cream cake and catering were provided by Barr Mansion. reception fun included lawn games, limbo competition and a piñata for the kids! At the Bridal Extravaganza Show, thousands of brides, bridesmaids, mothers-ofthe-bride, grooms, and wedding planners have their pick of over 350 vendors in 700 display showcases who cater exclusively to the ever fashionable, stylish, and romantic wedding industry.
The New York style runway was packed on Saturday and Sunday as attendees viewed fashion shows from Damsel White Label, Impression Bridal, David’s Bridal, Men’s Wearhouse, and The Princess Bridal. As a special addition, brides enjoyed a South Asian Fashion Show. On Sunday morning, brides were entertained by Randy Fenoli, star of “Say Yes to the Dress.” VIP brides enjoyed an exclusive event starting in the Couture Lounge. Lewis Grell of LG Entertainment rocked the house as brides and their friends sipped champagne and received swag bags.

Then they paraded through the convention center behind a live musician to the exclusive DJU Productions Couture Stage. The Couture fashion show, produced by Todd Ramos, featured gowns from The Princess Bridal, Nima Boutique, Winnie Couture and Impression Bridal.
This huge event is held twice annually and draws marriage-bound couples from all over Texas and beyond. They find invaluable resources and register to win honeymoons and shopping sprees.

After a four day event with family and friends at Dreams Tulum, they enjoyed a week at the Mayan Palace in Playa Del Carmen.

Jones High School and is a Helicopter Pilot for the U.S. Army. Bridesmaids were Monica Okolo, Brooke Smith, Ashleigh Berry, Risa Mitchell, Krondalette Ross, Chasity Misher, Mia and Arceneaux all of Houston, TX. The groomsmen were Jerome Edwards, Jared Edwards, Dennis Jackson, Sterling Perkins, Demarus Davis, Kenston Robinson. Chelsea wore a Saison Blanche Couture strapless, sweetheart neckline trumpet gown of silk organza and tulle with full chapel train and a Swarovski crystallized ribbon belt. They honeymooned in Tahiti.
