World Cup - We are all in ittogether. Cause, as the preliminary rounds are arranged in this country, the tournament has a message to each of us. Everyone have a chance, maybe not to win, but at least to get through the first step: the local final. Then it gets a little more difficult. Because the winners of the local matches, meets in the so-called zonefinal, taking place in the western an eastern part of the country. And to the festive and always exciting Denmarkfinal, in which the whole tournament is to be settle, are going 8 bowlers of each sex - and only one ean win and make the travel. As a rule far from home - but, this is one of the fascinated things.
WORLD CUP - Vi er med alle sammen. For som turneringens indledende faser er tilrettelagt her i landet, har den bud til 05 alle. Suddenly, something is happening: the speaker informs, that Birgitte Lund from' Denmark has gone to the final i World Cup World Finals in Caracas, Venezuela. More information will come. Get hold of the cigarettes - will the very young dane succeed, and thereby create the untill now greatest sensation. What ean that mean for the whole sport in Denmark? And at 9 o'clock the news came: Danishvictory in Caracas. Birgitte had created the sensation and had conquered Dale Gray, Australien in the final. Something happened in our country: at once a presseenter in Rødovre Bowlinghal was established, so all could have the chance to here more about the breaking of bowIingsport. Radio, TV and the writing press were overflowing and when Birgitte Lund and Jan Donde, who placed himself on a fine 8. place, went home, a very great ovation was waiting. Not a everyday occurrence for a Danish sportsactive on this time. The importance for Danish bowling has kept on, well supported of a long numbers of international placements in the folIowing years. Verdensrekord på verdensrekord Der tales om verdensrekord set i forhold til medlemstallet, når det årlige, samlede startantal gøres op. Og det er vi da stolte af her i landet, hvor World Cup har så store traditioner, og indgår som en del af hovedbegivenhederne set over et år. World Cup er en integreret del af dansk bowling, turneringen har som hovedarrangør Dansk Bowling forbund, men dirigeres i de indledende faser af de lokale kredse og unioner. World Cup startes op allerede i februar måned, og finder først sin afslutning i september. En lang turnering, men det mener vi gør den endnu mere attraktiv at være med i. For alle bowlere - og vi ser da også ind imellem megetoverraskende vindere til drømmefinalen et eller andet sted på jordkloden. Danske triumfer Det er en tidlig søndag morgen efteråret 1974. Morgenmaden er just kommet på bordet - vi lytter adspredt til morgennyhederne i radioavisen. Pludselig kommer der liv i kludene. Speakeren meddeler, at Birgitte Lund er kommet i finalen ved World Cup verdensfinalen i Caracas. Og at nærmere følger. Frem med cigaretterne - skal det virkelig lykkes den unge dansker at skabe den hidtil største sensation, og hvad vil det ikke komme til at betyde for dansk bowling. Man blev helt mat i knæene. Og kl. 9.00 kom nyheden: dansk sejr i World Cup, Caracas. Birgitte havde skabt sensationen og besejret Dale Cra)!, Australien i finalen. Så kom der gang i sagerne her til lands. Med øjeblikkelig indsats fra alle fronter. I Rødovre Bowlinghal blev der oprettet et pressecenter. så alle kunne komme til at høre mere om bowlingsportens gennembrud her til lands. Radio, TV og dagspressen strømmede over og ved hjemkomsten ventede der Birgitte Lund og jan Donde, som placerede sig på en flot 8. plads, en hyldest, som man sjældent ser en dansk idrætsudøver er til del - i hvert fald på den tid .. Betydningen for dansk bowling i almindelighed har holdt sig, godt understøttet af en lang række internationale placeringer i de år, som fulgte. Den dag i dag er der bud efter Birgitte Lund, som nu heder lensen. når bowling kalder i større sammenhænge.
Djarkarta Det er torsdag i World Cup ugen 1980. Verdensfinalen spilles i Djarkarta, Indonesien, og vi har johnny Christiansen fra Stenhuset og Kirsten Christiansen, Chock på plads. Telefonen ringer. Det er Politiken : »Er der noget om, at I har en bowlingspiller i Djarkarta?« »ja« - -Hen fører hele herligheden».
