The Power of God was Present on the Field from Morning to Evening

This woman attended the CfaN Campaign in Mwanza 20 years ago. She had been HIV positive and was dying. At the time, Reinhard Bonnke received a word of knowledge for her, and she felt the power of God touch her body. When she went to the doctor afterwards, she got the diagnosis: “HIV negative.” On Saturday night she told her story on the same field where she had been healed many years ago. It was a healing through faith that has stood the “test of time.”

MAXIMILIAN This boy, named Maximilian, had not been able to walk for ten years – the majority of his life. Jesus healed him on the second day in Mwanza!

On the last night, Daniel Kolenda asked how many in the crowd had come for the first time that day. The majority of the people lifted their hands. Many heard the Gospel for the first time. On the first evening in Mwanza, this lady reported that she had a tumor the size of a fist in her stomach, but after prayer it suddenly disappeared.

Mwanza is situated directly on the shores of Lake Victoria. Today, thanks to its central location, the city has developed into a large industrial and economic center in Tanzania. There is an airport (Mwanza/Lake Victoria International) and a railway connection that is almost 100 years old. It is also Lake Victoria’s most significant harbor.

This man had a very painful disease in his feet and had not been able to walk for a year. Doctors in Mbeya told him they could not find the problem and did not know how to help him. But on the very first night Jesus touched and healed him. The man’s tears flowed as he testified on the platform, where Daniel also danced with him to demonstrate his healing.

ELIZABETH This formerly deaf and dumb girl came to the Mwanza Campaign with her grandmother. On the last day she could repeat words like “Jesus” or “Hallelujah.” It was a precious moment for all those present.

Our Gospel Campaign took place on the largest open-air field in the city. But it still seemed quite crowded at times for those who attended. The days in Mwanza were characterized by an awesome spiritual “density.” One local spiritual healer could not wait, and brought all his witchcraft items early in the morning to be burned publicly. The local pastors prayed for him while he gave his life to Jesus. Similar incidents took place throughout the entire day. From morning to evening, the power of God saturated the field in a special way. In fact, after Peter Vandenberg finished his Fire Conference message earlier that morning, people were hungry and ready to receive. So Daniel put the microphone down because the power of God was already at work among those present. Many were baptized in the Holy Spirit. It was amazing! We experienced another mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit during our evangelistic event that evening. When the Spirit of God falls, people speak in new tongues and all kinds of healings and deliverances occur. And that is exactly what happened at this Campaign. On the last day, Daniel asked one of CfaN’s former interns, Evangelist Paul Maurer, to pray for the sick.

114,960 Decision cards were counted by the local follow-up team in Mwanza.

The local pastors reported that their churches were flooded with new believers the following Sunday morning. CfaN always works to bring new believers into the local churches through our evangelistic events.

Every night many people came forward to share a testimony of healing or deliverance.

The following evening she came to the platform again to reveal that now she had also started to speak.

For three years this woman could only move around by crawling on her hands and knees. That is how she came to the field in Mbeya. But when Daniel prayed for the sick on the second night, she was saturated by the power of God, got up and walked.

For ten years this lady used a walker. On the fourth night in Mbeya, she testified that she could now walk perfectly and without pain.

CfaN held an evangelistic Campaign in Mbeya in January, 1992 – almost 25 years ago. About 40,000 decisions for Christ were counted. We know the time is ripe to reach out again to that city and region with the Gospel.

To the Ends of the Earth Upon arrival Daniel Kolenda wrote about Mbeya: “The journey to this remote place was long and very exhausting. As far as the eye can see we are surrounded by unspoiled nature and picturesque mountains. It almost seems as if Jesus was talking about Mbeya when he commanded His followers to go to the ends of the earth.” On the first morning, as the Fire Conference for the pastors and leaders was about to start, a surprise was waiting for the team. It was extraordinarily cold in this city located almost 1700 m above sea level. When Daniel came to the field, some of our European technicians were warming their hands above a toaster. Nevertheless, the field was full of pastors and church workers, waiting in the cold to hear the Word of God before the sun had risen. Temperatures remained the same for the following days. On the final day of the Fire Conference, the thermometer only went up to 6°C. It was such a privilege to take the Good News of the Gospel to this place. From the start, a deep hunger for God’s Word was the prominent characteristic of our days in Mbeya. When the people were asked to come forward to share their healing testimonies on the first night, so many came forward that chaos reigned for a while in front of the platform. As people received

prayer in the middle of this mass of humanity, some manifested demonic spirits. Many thousands received Jesus into their lives and were set free. It was noticeable in Mbeya (as well as in Mwanza) that the Lord was focused on healing people who could not walk. An extraordinary number of severely handicapped people were touched by the power of God. On the second night, after the message about the power of the Blood of Jesus, attendees filled large metal barrels with fetishes and idols. They wanted to be completely free from that bondage. So they brought them to be burned, just as the people of Ephesus did in Acts 19. One young woman reported receiving a necklace from a traditional witchdoctor when she was still a child. He told her this necklace would protect her and give her restful sleep. Instead she had been tormented by nightmares, especially in recent years. But on that day she took off that necklace and gave her life to Jesus. The pastors were overjoyed on the final day. They said that they had never seen such large numbers of people in Mbeya, and that their churches had been crowded for the Sunday morning service.

Among several testimonies on the second night, we heard the story of this severely disabled young woman who had not been able to walk, but was now healed. When Daniel Kolenda asked her what had happened, he realized that she could not speak. He prayed for her on the platform, and she went home.
