letter from the EDITOR

HELLO &

DAUN LESS Be encouraged my sweet friends. God is still working in this world even though things seem dark and scary. He is still moving and working through us. I asked the staff to focus on the story in Luke about Mary and Martha this month. Most of my life, I have felt that I had to be Martha. But during this time, more than ever, I believe God is calling us all to be a little more like Mary. He wants you to seek his face more. He wants you to speak with him more and to spend time in his presence. That is where we are safe and where we are truly found. I pray you take the extra time to really seek him as we are moving towards the last days, the end times. Stay strong and stay blessed! #bringingbeautifulback #dauntlessstrong XOXO

Xiomara’s THOUGHTS

First Place By: Xiomara Eve Montalvo

38

Guests are coming!! Entering the kitchen, you notice everything that needs to be done. Prepare the food. Make sure it does not overcook. Wash the dishes. Sweep the floor. Set the table. They’re coming any moment now. You remind yourself you have to be the best host possible. To help your guests feel welcomed is your top priority. You asked your sibling to come and help prepare the living room while you take care of the rest. Cue the door bell! You and your sibling invite the guests inside and to make themselves at home. You run back and forth catering to beverages and snacks while your sibling stays behind having fun with the guests. This begins to bother you because they were supposed to be helping you to begin with. What about you? Who would you perceive to be in the wrong here? The one overly catering and stressing or the one making the most of being in the moment with the guests? Who seems happier? After contemplating these questions, ask yourself is it worth it? See in the Scripture, there is a very similar occurrence in the book of Luke between two sisters. Martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus, were preparing their home one day for some guests. The guests included none other than Jesus Christ himself. While Martha did all the hosting necessities, Mary sat the feet of Jesus listening to all he had to say. Martha tried to speak with Jesus and have him scold Mary into assisting her with the house responsibilities. Can you guess what Jesus said as a response? He told Martha that she worries too much and Mary has actually chosen the best thing to do. This being, choosing to be in the moment with Jesus. Jesus was in First Place for Mary. While Martha let all the stresses of every day life to obscure what was truly important. So I ask us all to take some time and reflect on what we are keeping in first place in our lives. Is it a job? Is it stress? Is it a negative mentality? Why don’t we take a minute and just be in the moment with our Lord and savior. Be in the moment with what truly matters to us. Keep Him in First Place.

Many Things

By Tamara Haygood The passage we are going to talk about today is probably one of the most painful for me personally. It cuts me deep and rarely can I read it without shedding some tears and feeling a pain in my innermost being. So bare with me as I become a little transparent. Have you ever felt that you are walking through this journey called life and that somehow, somewhere you may have not chosen the best path? That maybe, just maybe there was another, that you were designed for, but you were diverted or made decisions that altered that path. In Psalms 139:16 it says, “You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!” I believe God has a specific plan for each of us, a plan that He wrote out in His book. This was done even before we took our first breath. His plans are perfect for us, as we are His creation and surely our Creator knows what is best for us. But being the loving God that He is, He also gives us the free will to make our own choices. The problem with that is, that we cannot see how those choices will affect our lives, years down the road, or even the very next day, hour or even minute. However, God knows all things, in fact the Bible tells us that He knows the end from the beginning. Isiah 46:9-10 says, “ Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” So He knows how things would work out best for us, and what is best for us. But, we sometimes choose another way. Now, I know that many will argue that God can still direct us even when we get off course, and I concur. I know that indeed He has done so with my life. But, when there has been a life course change then there will always be consequences of those choices. So, we then continue on the path of the consequences of the choices we have made. There are no redos, resets, undos. We are now on a new course. We are going to look at the passage of Mary and Martha found in book of Luke chapter 10:340. It is just a small passage, but it has volumes to say. “Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came

46

47

48

to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

We see that Jesus is talking of someone specifically, a certain woman in a certain village. This was identifying Martha specifically. She was not just some woman somewhere. He was familiar and aware of her, and she was identified. When we look at her name, Martha in the Greek it means, “mistress, a Christian woman”.

It says Martha received Jesus, she invited Him in as her guest. You see Martha was a fine hostess, and very hospitable. She took it as her personal responsibility to welcome Him into her home and see to His needs. Another woman lived in this home; Mary, she was the sister of Martha. Mary in the Hebrew translation is, Mariam, this name means obstinacy or rebellious. So, I am just wondering at this point, if perhaps as these two sisters grew up. Was Martha perhaps the one that was always more responsible and doing what was expected of her. Possibly Mary, on the other hand was more about doing what she wanted. Looking to find what was most important to her, and not following all of the “rules and expectations.”

So we see Jesus coming into the home, Martha being the responsible hostess, busying herself in making sure that all of Jesus’ needs are taken care of, possibly washing his feet as was customary, being sure He was comfortable, getting Him some water. Surely, he was thirsty after traveling and talking to people. Likely, she was preparing food, for probably not only for Jesus, but anyone else that had been with Him. She had a lot of things that needed to be done and was consumed with doing her best. Mary was not so concerned with all of these things. She wanted to be near Jesus. She did not want to be at the back of the room having to struggle to hear. She placed herself right at His feet. She wanted to be close and we see that she wanted to be a student of what He had to say. In our days that’s not a big deal as women, we have few restrictions, but at that time women were not taught by Rabbi’s. So Mary chose to do what she wanted and sat listening, probably in the midst of Jesus’ disciples. The word, listen, means to hear to attend to. She was not just listening she was hearing and attending to what was being said,

Has anyone ever asked you, “ Are you listening to me?” Maybe we are not really present when they are talking.

49

Mary was present and was hearing and taking in what Jesus was saying. The Greek meaning of “word” is logos, an expression or thought from the Father. No wonder why Mary wanted to listen! While this was going on our friend Martha was distracted, this word has a great deal of definition, and I am going to list them all, because I can identify with them all: to draw around, draw away, distract, to be driven about mentally, to be distracted, to be over-occupied, too busy, about a thing, to be distracted with cares, to be troubled, distressed. Wow! That’s not only a mouth full, that is a mind full! What was on Martha’s mind? MUCH - she had a lot going on in her head…can I get a witness??!!

Anyone want to know what “much” means? Let me tell you, much; used as of multitude, number, etc., many, numerous, great. How hard is it sometimes to get to that secret place? You want to be alone and sit at the feet of Jesus and you are distracted with “much”! Now comes the kicker. This is where self righteousness can sometimes get in the way. The very next word after much is, service. Meaning, “service, ministry ”. Sometimes we can also be so busy doing things for the Lord, that we don’t spend time with the Lord.

Ministry comes in many styles, forms, examples. We can label many things as ministry, from caring for our families, civic or church ministry, marketplace ministry (your job/career). We tend to justify our “service and excessive business because after all “ it all has to be done, right??!! In our culture, it is difficult to not become distracted with “much service”. In my head, I can almost see this whole scene. Mary is sitting watching intently and holding onto every word that Jesus is speaking. Not paying the least attention to Martha who is undoubtedly scurrying about doing this and that. All of a sudden, Martha realizes that she is doing all of the work and Mary is just sitting there! Can you see the color red begin to flood Martha’s cheeks? Her eyes are glaring and with her hands on her hips, she cannot hold it any longer! Right in the middle of Jesus’s teaching, she stands up next to Jesus and in exasperation and no doubt hopes that Jesus will see how she has been wronged and chide her sister, she blurts out! (paraphrased) “Lord, are you not concerned that this sister of mine has left me all alone, by myself to do what we as women are supposed to do and to serve and minister?! Command her now then, to share in this responsibility and help me!” Don’t you just love the way Jesus answers; I sense He really wanted to get her attention, so He

50

51

52

says her name twice, “Martha, Martha, You are anxious, you care, and are concerned and worried about many things, your mind is troubled about a great amount of things. But you know what? Only a few things are really important, and are necessary. The one thing that is most important, the good and admirable portion that is assigned to Mary, which she has chosen, is not going to be taken away from her.” I am sure at that moment you could have heard a pin drop in that house. So, I told you earlier that this is a painful passage for me personally. I will try to explain my heart on this the best way I know how.

You see, there was a point and time in my life where I had much opportunity to spend much time at the feet of Jesus and loved it more than anything else. Nothing can compare to the sweet precious time with Him. At this point it was easy to relate to Mary and just wanting to absorb as much as possible and loved being lost in His presence. But life choices happened and I found that due to my choices, life took on a different angle with many things weighing on my mind, business became normal and I was taken with “ministry” of several forms taking my attention. I was soon playing the role of Martha, and have at times found myself a bit jealous of the Mary’s, who had somehow found a way to pull themselves out of the rat race and rebelled against the system so they could embrace that which is most important. They have held their ground, and I can almost hear Jesus saying, they have chosen what is most important and it will not be taken away from them. Though my soul aches and long to be a Mary, more than a Martha I truly struggle. My heart is heavy as there is this battle that rages and honestly it is my choice but yet it is still my battle. Breaking free is easier said than done. The question arises often, inside. Had a different path been chosen would I be more of a Mary and less of a Martha? Choose well.

-Blessings my friends!

Letter from ARMAN

Hello fellow Dauntless man! This has been quite a year, a lot going on and to wrap our heads around. But I fully believe that God is directing each and everyone of our steps and he is helping us to move forward in this journey. As long as we have him, our testimony and love for our brothers and sisters, we should be able to survive in this world until it’s our time to go. Over here, at Kingdom Dezigns we have been working tirelessly on our clothing boutique online: creating designs, learning how to use all the equipment and just making sure that we listen to God‘s Word as we move forward in the construction of the business. I work at Walt Disney World, however seeing much in the news as well as knowing deep down that they are an illuminati/satanic company hiding the 666 in their branding (and messaging of their logo as well as many other places and hidden within cartoons themselves) I am happy to say that I will no longer be working there as God blesses this business that me and my wife have poured ourselves into over the last month. I really hope that each of you reading this finds this helpful and encouraging because our time here is short and the harvest time is now, so make sure if you were a believer in Christ, that you’re sharing the gospel

58

with all those around you, but also not wasting and casting your pearls on swine - as we know there are many of those out there too. We have a lot of great things in the works. Please stay tuned with us. As well as stay prepared for anything it is possible that there may be some power outages and lack of food supply chain disruption as we have special people that are in office right now. I do believe that our God is a good God. Our father Abba in Heaven is able to do all things through Christ and we too can do all things with Christ so I pray for each and everyone of you that you don’t give up the faith and that you help encourage each other. Be the light that God told us to be and be the salt of the earth as we continue to move forward into unknown destinies and destinations. May you not fall to the lies of the evil one and may you be successful and all that you do. Stay tuned with us here at Kingdom Dezigns as we move forward in life. Much Love, Arman
