letter from the EDITOR

HELLO &

DAUN LESS What a crazy month we had last month. My husband and I just reloacted again at the very end of March. So last month we spent unpacking, moving in and getting used to our new jobs. I always enjoy a new, fresh start at a different place. It means new places to explore, new friends to meet and new places to eat. I have leaned so much already at my new place and in this new season. I am excited to see where things go and I know my husband is too. For many, you are finally starting to expereince some spring weather. I love spring for much the same reason as I do moving to a new place. Everything is new and fresh. The flowers and plants are growing again and new opportunities are everywhere. Embrace it all and hug your mamas! Stay strong and stay blessed! #bringingbeautifulback #dauntlessstrong XOXO,

Arnette’s CORNER

Even the Wise Can Get It Wrong By: Arnette German

38

39

The controversial story of Bathsheba and King David reveals even the wise can get it wrong. King David, mentioned in the Bible as a man highly favored and after God’s own heart-simply got it wrong. Multiple errors were made when he was overwhelmed by unbridled lust and temptation when gazing upon his most elite and loyal soldier’s wife, Bathsheba, bathing on the roof top not too far from the palace. Instantaneously, King David strategized not only on how to sleep with her but on how to murder Uriah after their rendezvous produced a son and ultimately making her his wife and favorite wife. Ladies and fGentlemen, David’s eyes got him in trouble. Your sight and « sight » can cause you to make errors every single time in life. As a result of David taking his focus off of God, losing his rhythm and momentum with God, sin seamlessly and swiftly crept in the form of adultery, lying, deceit, manipulation, pride, murder and an innocent death occurring

40

41

Sin will cause you to lose all sense of self and reason when wanting to acquire what you have been secretly desiring. Under the tutelage of my Bishop, he taught, leave it alone if you have to utilize the devil tactics… you do not want the price that comes with the compromise(s) made. Consequently, in David’s stance, because he gave in to his desires and allowed his emotions to supersede his reason and momentarily break his covenant with God, he and Bathseba’s 7 day old son died …which the Lord permitted. Learn early and/or now that sin…your sin does not only affect you-it affects others too…sometimes the innocent. Sin is a deadly game of Russian Roulette. Case in point, as Uriah is fighting a battle, the spotting of Bathsheba on the rooftop occurs. When Bathsheba and King David’s adulterous act occurs and she becomes pregnant is when Uriah loyalty causes him to have to be killed. After battle, he does not return home at all but instead guards the King’s gate. The plot to have Uriah on the front line to be killed during battle is to give the greenlight on the pregnancy (an explanation) in order for King David to take her as his wife due to his death (an honorable act for such an elite soldier). Uriah’s discipline was known of; resulting in him not leaving his post to go home. So, her pregnancy…this controversy…if truth was released…would not sit well-at all!

42

43

I know this comes off as a good episode for SNAPPED...the church edition to say the least but King David’s story teaches God is a gentleman in that He will not force or thrust upon His will. He exudes chialer and permits us to make Our own décision(s). He will Never stop us from doing something or some things we want to do because it is our will in warning to do it. It is discord afterwards, if in fact, the wrong will was followed. Check your heart daily. Search it to see if your emotions, desires and will(s) align with God. However, being after God’s own heart, King David knew he got it wrong and repented and fasted and as a result, God blessed King David and Bathsheba with a son that will be known as the wealthiest and wisest king in the world-King Solomon. So, two wrongs can make a right only when you admit the wrong and allow God to then forgive the wrong which is then right. Therefore, in all errs made, repentance allowed grace and mercy to be given because even the wise can get it wrong…but corrected!

The Hooneymooners: B Resort & Spa By Arman and Karissa Irani

Arman and myself took a mini staycation in Orlando, Florida this past month. We stayed at the beautiful and luxurious B Resort and Spa. We were blown away by our experience as well as the beauty and space of our room. Immediately upon entering the resort, you see all kinds of fun and selfie worthy lounge locations. There is even a life sized droid for all the Star Wars lovers out there. Everything was very clean and unified as far as decor goes. We had a King sized bedroom. Oh my goodness!!! When I walked into the room for the first time I was in awe and in love. The rooms are so spacious and huge. I don’t think I have every been at any resort this large or spacious in the rooms. The room was so beautifully decorated and everything flowed so well aesthetically. They even have larger suites for large families looking for a getaway. Some of those even come with their own outside balcony or “porch.” Do not even get me started on the bathroom. It was larger than the bathrooms we have in our home combined. It looked so clean and sparkling. The shower itself could hold at least ten people at one time. It was the dream bathroom. The location of the resort is the best. We were in walking distance of Disney Springs and could get transportation to any of the Disney Parks if we wanted it. There is a lot to do inside of the resort itself so you do not have to go out if you do not want to. There is a beautiful pool with tons of chairs to lay out and soak up the sun. There are games for the whole family to play like corn hole. There is places to shop and eat inside of the resort. If you are looking for a place to stay in Orlando we give this resort 5 stars and 2 thumbs up. It is definitely a great getaway spot. 48

OUR ACTIONS PRODUCE CONSEQUENCES By Tamara Haygood

2 Samuel 11, tells of the man the Bible calls, “ the man after God’s own heart” being tempted and committing a sin that snowballs into another sin, and brings about much pain and heartache not only for him, but to all people involved and eventually his entire family. James 1:13-15, tells us how this works. “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” Being tempted is not sin, but giving into the temptation is sin, and ultimately it can lead to spiritual death. David was the King, but for some reason while his army was at war, he was not. He noticed a beautiful woman bathing on her rooftop – obviously this is where the temptation began. He found that she was a married woman and her husband, Uriah, was one of the loyal soldiers who was fighting in the war that David was not currently leading. James states that people can be dragged away by their own evil desire and become enticed. David being the King sent for her. I guess he felt entitled to do what he wanted since after all he was the King. The desire to commit adultery with this beautiful woman was conceived, he no doubt began to desire this to happen before the act ever took place. He gave into the desire. He had sex with this married woman. They gave birth to sin. Sin always has consequences.

Galatians 6:7,8 says, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” So he gave into the desire to have the woman that didn’t belong to him. And after taking her, she conceived a child. What he may have thought was going to be a one night stand to fulfill his desires became a big situation. He wanted to create a lie, so he brought home her husband from war and tried to get him to sleep with his wife, with the idea that Uriah would believe the baby she was pregnant with would be his child. So now, he was adding deceit to his sins.

58

59

60

This plan backfires, Uriah being the faithful soldier he was, refused the pleasure of being with his wife when brought out of the war, but stayed guard for his king. Since Uriah would not play into his plan of deceit, David decided to have Uriah’s life taken from him. This would allow David to marry Bathsheba, and no one would know what had transpired. But once again, our sins find us out and God decided to expose his sins to him. God sent His prophet, Nathan in 2 Samuel 12, to expose the sin and confront David. The next things that transpired are something that has impacted my life in a very powerful way. David chose to repent of his sins, he did not try to excuse his way out of it, or blame it on Bathsheba. He wanted his relationship with God restored, he did not like being separated from God. The Word said he had a contrite heart. Meaning crushed like powder. He was broken before God. Psalms 51 is said to have been written after Nathan the prophet had come to inform David of God’s judgement against him. David chose to ask for forgiveness and to be cleansed. Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, O God,

because of your unfailing love.

Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.

Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin.

For I recognize my rebellion;

It haunts me day and night.

Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight.

You will be proved right in what you say,

and your judgment against me is just.[a] For I was born a sinner—

Yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb,[b] teaching me wisdom even there.

61

Purify me from my sins,[c] and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— Now let me rejoice.

Don’t keep looking at my sins.

Remove the stain of my guilt.

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.

Do not banish me from your presence,

and don’t take your Holy Spirit[d] from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.

Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you.

Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves; then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness. Unseal my lips, O Lord,

that my mouth may praise you.

You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering.

The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.

You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. Look with favor on Zion and help her; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Then you will be pleased with sacrifices offered in the right spirit— with burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings.

Then bulls will again be sacrificed on your altar. This story draws a beautiful picture of the grace of a loving and forgiving God. David came with sincere repentance for his sins. These were not little sins but very horrible things. Yet, God saw David’s heart and knew that David truly was repentant and God forgave and restored David to right standing with Him. Bear in mind, that even though forgiveness came, the consequences of this sin could be seen in his children. So our sins cause scars, and they always have consequences. So when temptations arise, we need to stop before allowing the temptation to move us into sin and remember this is not a one time action, but a lifetime decision.
