HELLO
Happy New Year!! Happy 2021! I know that we are excited to get out of 2020 and into a new year. I am sure so many are as well. It has been one wild ride after another. There is no saying when it will all stop or slow down but I believe that we were able to get stronger this past year through it all. After spending some time praying and thinking about the direction to take this year, the words FORWARD, FAITH & FOCUS came to heart and mind. God’s desire is for us to continue to move forward in faith, while we keep our focus on Him. In the Bible, there are many examples of those that did not keep their focus on him and then there are amazing stories of those that did. This year we are going to delve into some of the different Bible stories and through it all we want you to be encouraged to keep your focus on God as we move forward. Let us all move forward into the great unknown with great expectations for God to show off mightly.

Karissa Hagemeister-Irani is on a life long journey to share love, beauty and truth with the world. She enjoys modeling, acting and singing. She has her own fashion line and in July of 2016, Karissa published her first book. Her future plans are to revamp the fashion & entertainment industry with the love, truth and beauty through both her fashion business and Beautiful & Dauntless magazine. Editor-in-Chief of the Dauntless section of the magazine, Arman Irani, married Karissa in June of 2019.

Arman Irani is just another fellow human. He’s admittedly a little bit nerdy. How nerdy? Well, he just received a Bachelors degree in Nanotechnology. Arman loves working out, cooking healthy, dressing up, traveling and he’s also a bit of a gamer. He has no qualms with moving in faith to new destinations and embarking on new adventures in life (as the phrase goes, you only live once!). When it comes down to it, Arman believes life is short and hopes that you become inspired and believe in yourself to do the things that you want in this life and follow your calling.

Arnette German is a native of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. She took her leap of faith and finally decided to yield to her passion for fashion by enrolling in the online Graduate Program of Fashion Journalism at Academy Art University in San Francisco, California. No stranger to the stage, Arnette is a member of the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe in Sarasota, Florida. Presently calling Bradenton, Florida home, Arnette spends her free time either volunteering at her local church and spending time with friends and family, especially her best friend. Arnette is a foodie and a lover of nature and the arts. Life is definitely, in some shape or form and fashion, being lived to the fullest.

Xiomara Montalvo is a 21 year old graphic designer and visual artist that lives and breathes all things artistic. She has lived in Florida half of her life but is originally from Michigan.
Xiomara has a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from Southeastern University with a concentration in Digital Imaging. Visual Storytelling has always been a passion of hers. To be able to bring life to the imagination is what motivates her to design.

Happy New Year my loves! By the grace of God…you…me…we…we all weathered the storm and survived 2020! As we embark on this new and unnavigated journey, 2021, it is the year to keep the pace God is steadily, yet, quickly moving you at - while not looking back on what He has brought you out of, causing you to lose focus on where He is trying to take you to. The end result? You run the high risk of remaining “stuck” permanently in something that was a temporary stop. Don’t chance it! Yes, it can be frightening stepping into the “unknown” especially with Covid-19 not letting up, unemployment still at a high, evictions occurring by the droves daily with millions still waiting to receive the first stimulus check. Yep. 2021 is a coin in a coin toss with one having no clue what side it will land on. But, one thing is for certain: if you walk hand in hand with God, you can not be steered wrong. Coming out of 2020, despite it being an unpredictable year of many twists and turns, emotional rollercoasters and shocks and disappointments; it still was the year of having 20/20 vision. Possessing and operating with keen sight that manifested into functioning in sound wisdom. 2020 granted us all with an opportunity, (if paying close attention), to truly “see” people… situations…everything authentically with some finally adhering to Maya Angelou’s admonishment, “when a person shows you who they are believe them the first time.” But, as we are in 2021, it is the year to utilize your weapon accordingly and to fight to keep your keen vision and hold onto the knowledge, wisdom and understanding obtained in 2020. Ride on!

In honor of those you may have lost and/or know of someone who lost a beloved one in 2020, please take a fewmoments to speak their name(s) in the atmosphere in their remembrance. Thank You!

Keep making, maintaining and increasing momentum in this battle to become who He has called you to be and to end where He predestined for you to end. Don’t look back! Don’t take your eyes off of God and/or your goals, dreams and vision. In Hebrew, the number, 2021, according to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance means, “apparently to be sharp or strong; a weapon-chariot,” got it now? In this season, you can not afford to not move when God says move and at the speed He tells you to. When He says move - MOVE. When He says move quickly-um…be swift! No hesitancy! Do not be like Lot’s wife, (King James Bible, Genesis 19) when He instructed them to leave Sodom and Gomorrah quickly (because He was going to destroy the two cities due to their consistent sins) and do not look back. Due to her disobedience in looking back while leaving “out” she became a permanent fixture by turning into a pillar of salt. Will you become a pillar of salt for your disobedience - no. But, will you be a permanent billboard for others to know what can happen for not listening and a constant reminder in telling your story of what caused you not to get to your final destination - yes! So, move in the manner of God and in God. Do not lose your acute sight that He gave you. Guard it with your dear life and as your life depends on it. In the season, the enemy is not fighting fair! I challenge you my loves, after reading this to spend time with Him. Turn everything off and let it be just you and Him. Ask Him what He will have of you. Talk to Him honestly. It doesn’t have to be a fancy and/or long prayer. Just talk to Him. Let Him know: not my plans but your will. And then, be silent and allow Him to speak to you. He hears you and will answer back. You’ve just got to listen. And when he gives dispatch orders-Ride. On.

Genesis 19: 1-26 The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.” “No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”
3 But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. 4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.” 6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.” 9 “Get out of our way,” they replied. “This fellow came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.
10 But the men inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door. 11 Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they could not find the door. 12 The two men said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here—sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here, 13 because we are going to 20
destroy this place. The outcry to the Lord against its people is so great that he has sent us to destroy it.”
14 So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry[a] his daughters. He said, “Hurry and get out of this place, because the Lord is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-inlaw thought he was joking. 15 With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.”
16 When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them. 17 As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”
18 But Lot said to them, “No, my lords,[b] please! 19 Your[c] servant has found favor in your[d] eyes, and you[e] have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die. 20 Look, here is a town near enough to run to, and it is small. Let me flee to it—it is very small, isn’t it? Then my life will be spared.” 21 He said to him, “Very well, I will grant this request too; I will not overthrow the town you speak of. 22 But flee there quickly, because I cannot do anything until you reach it.”
23 By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. 24 Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in 21 the land. 26 But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

By Karissa Hagemeister-Irani As we are crawling out of a very dramatic year and hoping for a better new one, a very important story from the Bible comes to mind. Posted a few pages earlier in this magazine, Genesis 19:1-26, we read about how God had sent angels to destroy two very corrupt cities. One family was saved from those cities with strict orders not to look back at the life they had left. Out of the four that left, one happened to look back and the instant she did, she became a pillar of salt. Her pillar is still standing today in Jordan. There are so many important nuggets we can pull from this story and carry on into our lives now. The world that we live in is not much different from the Sodom and Gomorrah talked about in Genesis. Matter of fact, it is possibly even more corrupt today. We just finished off a year where a virus plague had covered the face of the earth, killer bees were on the loose, riots, killings, lootings and so much dreadful harm was seen in every country. Some argue that this could be the wrath of God. Whether it is or not, that is not my business. What I do know is that God has saved you from the turmoil and chaos. You are still alive. You most likely have experienced some heartache, some setbacks and who knows what else but you are still breathing. This means that you still have purpose on this earth. We can’t let this past year hold us down or keep us back. We must stick to it! Stick to what God has called you to, shown you to do, impressed upon your heart and follow through. I don’t thin
k that he will turn you into a pillar of salt like he did Lot’s wife but you will not escape his judgment either here on earth or in Heaven. I am not trying to make this sound heavy but there is such an importance placed upon us to keep our gaze upon Jesus and keep moving forward. In this new year especially! God did not just bring us to earth to wander around for some random number of years and then die. No! He gave each of us a special purpose, tucked away in our hearts, to fulfill into completion while living here. This place is not our permanent home. We all came from Heaven and once we die, hopefully, we will spend eternity in Heaven. What we do while on earth will affect our eternity and those around us will be affected as well. Make a choice to stick to it this year, for yourself and for the world you impact.

We have been on a very long journey together. On this journey we have had to climb hills, cross valleys, swim across rivers, and even dive into tunnels. The tunnels are endless and cold. They are dark and the batteries, in your flash light, are dimming, without power. That sense of helplessness causes us to question whether or not the venture was worth it. Would it be easier to turn back to where we came from? It was safer back there. At least we knew the terrain. It was familiar. It was comfortable. This mentality halts us in the moment as we ask ourselves, “Should I turn back?” That question lead to Lot’s wife’s demise. As we are stopped, in the middle of this dark tunnel in Life, we contemplate our next move. Do I go? Do I not? Little do we realize that if we take a few more steps we will see something. A light. A sign. Take a few more steps. The journey through 2020 is now far behind us. We may have tripped and scraped ourselves along the way, but we are almost there. A few more steps in faith. As we welcome a new year that the Lord has gifted us, do not look back. Push forward and let the light guide you to the other side of the tunnel.

Date Night: Blaze Pizza
By Karissa Hagemeister-Irani & Arman Irani Do you feel like you are in the hot seat in your relationship? Maybe all you need is a nice date with your significant other. We had started sharing date night spots last year but stopped for several months due to covid. It is time to start sharing these fun and TASTY hot date spots again. Who does not love pizza? No one!! Pizza places are everywhere and there are so many good ones to choose from. We have gotten a lot pickier because Karissa cannot eat gluten. Finding a good gluten-free pizza joint has been a struggle. There are some spots that have horrible gluten free pizza (Pizza Hut and Dominoes) and then there are others that have

exceptional gluten free pizza.
One of those spots that happens to be at the top of both of our pizza lovin’ lists is Blaze Pizza. Our favorite place to eat it, and the most crowded is at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida. This company goes above and beyond when it comes to making pizza. Not only do they have the best gluten free crust that we have ever tried but they have three gluten free crust options: keto, cauliflower and original. (We prefer the original gluten free crust of the three). If you have never been, we recommend building your own pizza. You pick everything from the crust to the toppings and seasoning. Then you watch them put it into the pizza oven and it takes about 10 minutes to bake. Once done, your mouth will thank you. This is one of our favorite date night spots and we hope you enjoy it too. Lamb Braised in Pomegranate
Ingredients: 3 pounds lamb chops salt ground pepper 1 tablespoon of oil 1 onion, sliced 4 cloves garlic, sliced 2 cups pomegranate juice 1/3 cup aged balsamic vinegar ¼ teaspoon dried rosemary 8 fresh mint leaves ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 tablespoon honey 2 tablespoons pomegranate seeds 1 tablespoon sliced fresh mint leaves 1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds Directions Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Generously season lamb with salt and black pepper. Heat oil in a Dutch oven over high heat. Place lamb in the Dutch oven and cook until browned on all sides, about 8 minutes. Transfer lamb to a plate and reduce heat to medium. 54
Stir onion and a pinch of salt into the Dutch oven; cook until onions are slightly golden. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Pour pomegranate juice into the Dutch oven and scrape any browned bits off of the bottom of the pot. Pour in balsamic vinegar, increase heat to high, and bring to a boil. Stir rosemary, mint leaves, and red pepper flakes into the pomegranate juice mixture. Continue to boil until liquid is reduced by half, about 10 minutes. Return lamb and any accumulated juices to Dutch oven, spoon pomegranate mixture over the lamb and cover. Cook in the preheated oven about 2 hours. Transfer lamb to a plate and set Dutch oven on the stovetop over high heat. Bring pomegranate mixture to a boil; cook for about 5 minutes. Stir in honey and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Return lamb to the Dutch oven; stir to combine. Garnish with pomegranate seeds, sliced mint leaves, and pumpkin seeds. 55
Italian Hot Chocolate Ingredients 1 cup whole milk 1 cup heavy whipping cream 4 tablespoons granulated sugar 1½ teaspoons cornstarch 4½ ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped Whipped cream Chocolate shavings Instructions In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, whisk together ¾ cup of the milk, cream and sugar. Heat, whisking occasionally, until the mixture starts to bubble around the edges. Meanwhile, in a small bowl whisk together the remaining ¼ cup milk and cornstarch until well combined. As soon as the milk mixture bubbles around the edges, add in the milk and cornstarch mixture and whisk until heated through, about 1 minute. Reduce heat to medium-low, then add in the chocolate and whisk until completely dissolved into the milk mixture, and is thick enough to coat a spoon, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and pour into mugs. Garnish with whipped cream and top with chocolate shavings. Serve immediately as the drink will continue to thicken as it cools.

DAUN LESS This past year has been very unpredictable, upsetting, frustrating, stupid, sad and quite honestly, very spiritually trying. Good news it’s over… and hopefully no one hits the “repeat play song” button. The real good news is we serve a God who is on the eternal throne, no political or worldly event can change that fact. He is our refuge, he is our redeemer & the one in whom we can trust. In my personal opinion, I see the forces of darkness and evil spreading more on earth now than ever before. Telling us how to think, what to wear, what to take… it’s like we don’t have minds of our own to think? They are influencing us from all angles, all day, in many ways most people may never fully understand. However, God didn’t give us the light of his Holy Spirit to sit indoors and hide nor to be complacent. He taught us to shine our light brightly because darkness hates the light & can’t stand it. I’m praying for a 2nd revival to break out so people can witness true signs like what happened in Acts or at Sodom and Gomorrah. At the end of the day whoever ends up President, whatever our current, political, social or economic events turn into: we know we can trust in God. For all things small or large in our day to day battles - God is always there, our protector our guidance system, Adonai will always be King and will judge things righteously and fairly so give up your worries and troubles to the Lord confess with your mouth your issues and let the Lord hear what’s on your heart. Speak the Truth, build a relationship with the King and don’t fear what the future holds… embrace it like a Real Dauntless man. May God bless you & your families in this new year.
