T he pr o gr am r an f r om 1976 through to 1984 with 153 episodes in total and 2.5 million viewers tuning in at its peak. Green Energy Technologies - Get Solar's site at the 2019 Mackay Expo

A G N I T A E TIPS ON CR E IT S O P X E ' IT IS V T S U 'M Have you ever seen an exhibition site and thought to yourself, ‘Wow, that looks interesting’, and find your self wandering over there without even knowing who they are. At trade show events such as the ones we host at Australian Events, this is the goal you are aiming for. You want as many patrons to visit your site as possible. Over the years we have noticed a difference in patrons visiting sites based on the way they look. In this edition of Exhibitor Tips we will discuss how you can create a ‘must-visit’ exhibition site at your next event.

TIP 1: Use Colour

There is nothing more boring than looking at the same grey floor and grey partitions over and over again at events. Try to brighten up your site by using colour which relates or compliments your business image and brand. Not only will this differentiate your businesses from the others at the event but it will also draw in curious patrons as they walk by.

TIP 2: Leave Space for Your Visitors

So many exhibitor s make the mistake of filling their site space as much as they can with every product they stock. While it is good to stock a range of products on your site during the event, it is also important that you leave enough space for visitors to come through, browse and engage with you.

TIP 3: Visuals

Humans are visual. The first thing a visitor will look for when they arrive at the event and are browsing through the number of sites, is a sign, logo or information about what your company does. When you set up your site make sure you take a step back and look at it from a visitor’s point of view. Think to yourself, is this easy for me to understand.

TIP 4: Competitions

Running a competition on your site at an event will attract patrons to visit it. Make sure the competition

is obvious. You will only collect leads when they can see and access the competition easily. Use signs and obvious visuals, such as arrows pointing to the barrel of coupon entries, to attract the crowds as they walk through the event. If you are running a competition, make sure you let the organisers know.

TIP 5: Demos

If you stock a product which could use a demonstration, such as the setting up and packing down of a camper trailer, then why not take advantage of this and draw a crowd. Set up times where you will do demonstrations of your products and inform your followers and visitors. Make sure you have signage at the event regarding the demos so that potential customers can come back and tune in. We hope these steps will help you create a site that everyone wants to visit at your next event. For more tips and tricks, be sure to visit www.AustralianEvents.com.au www.AustralianEvents.com.au

TIPS & TRICKS

S TAY CONNECTED The first call in Australia was made on the 9th August 1981 on a mobile phone that was connected to a unit that weighed 14kgs and cost five grand, which in todays’ terms would be around $17,000. Thankfully today it is far easier and more economical to stay connected in business and yet many business people fail to connect with their peers and industry organisations to stay up to date.

In an age of fast moving technology and mind numbing change and innovation, it is worthwhile to join and be part of industry groups. Talk to your local Council to get details on business groups and the local Chamber of Commerce in your  area. If you operate across Queensland then being a member of the Queensland Chamber of Commerce is money well spent because they provide advice and direction on all sorts of things that may challenge you in the management of your

staff and your business on a day to day basis. There are lots of industry specific groups too that are very worthwhile like the Toowoomba and Surat B a s i n E n t e r p r i s e , To w n s v i l l e Enterprise, Capricorn Enterprise, Bowen Basin Mining Club, Business Sunshine Coast just to name a few. Contact them and ask when they meet, what they do, how much does it cost and what sor ts of services they can offer and if there is a regular newsletter that you can subscribe to; well worth the effort.

MARKETING IN A S LO W ECONOMY We all agree that nothing much happens without a SALE… Somebody has to sell a product or service to create demand so that enough of that product or service can be supplied or used to generate turnover and profit.

However, in a “Tightening” economy the f ir st thing organisations (not all) do is cut the Marketing budget. Why is this? What does it achieve?

This is too obvious to everyone. So I ask again, why would you TRY TO STOP THIS HAPPENING!

The continued marketing efforts will maintain a premium position in the minds of your customers.

Adver tising, PR, research, lead generation and incentives for sales people are all examined and generally these components are the first part of the budget to be cut. There is no sense in this action.

Marketing, when done properly, will attract customers to your business and they then buy your products and your turnover will increase. Australian Events Magazine | Issue One

History has shown that it is the companies who continue with aggressive, yet relevant, marketing during the slow times that are the first to emerge when the economic tide turns.

K N I H T

The hardest thing to do when you are working in or on your business is to Stop and Think. Not many people take the time out from their busy routine to Stop and Think, but your mind is your most powerful asset! Remember phrases like “Mind over Matter” and “if you want it hard enough it will happen”. You should set aside some time each day to just stop and think. You will be pleasantly surprised at what great marketing ideas pop into your head! Think about what you sell and all of the aspects of what attracts your customers to your business. There is always a better way to do what you already do….. that is, find another “edge” to what you do. Do it better. Have you ever thought…. “that’s so simple I should have thought of that!”. They probably thought of that because they took the time to stop and think about ways of changing or improving the way they conducted their business, and it just “popped” into their head!

his vessel though shallow waters and will not take advice from other crew suggesting shor tcuts that could save fuel [but ultimately cause him to run aground]! If your marketing has been working for you in the past then the best thing you can do is “hold your course”, having said this, Stop and Think, because you c an always improve your message to make it more attractive or easier to understand. If you have a great website change it constantly, update information, to make sure you have the “latest” tips and "info on DIY" or use it to set yourself or your organisation as “experts” in your field and tell people about it! Begin interacting with your clients by offering them something for free.

Make decisions based on facts and proven results not on negative comments made by some customers or staff.

Check your current marketing, is your mar keting humor ous? Different? Informative? Hopefully it’s one of these. Find a way to make it two of these, and therefore at trac t the at tention of more people. What about offering an incentive to non-profit (charities) organizations to promote your business to their members? What about building your own network group – breakfasts with a speaker?

The captain of a ship trusts his knowledge and experience to guide

Impr ove your communic ations with your existing customer s,

offer them incentives to return. Lots of incentives. [something to think about] Give something away fr ee to attract attention (make sure your customers know the value of this service.) If you do this through your website you will eventually get an order! Think about this! Find more reasons for your customers to return to your business [or website] – more discounts – more gifts. Ret ain your employee s and encourage them to provide a high level of service, we all know that it costs more to employ new staff than to encourage existing staff to “lift their game”! The great thing about a slower market is that you have more time to think more about your business and everyone else is in the same boat! The idea of course, is that you start to get more share of the available spend than your opposition (competitors) because you spend this time thinking and adding to your marketing strategies not taking away from them.
