Local Arts Scene: Southwold

For the love of Southwold As well as being their favourite place, Southwold has played an important part in a number of books created by Alan and Marion Marshall of Norfolk-based Mascot Media. Their collaboration with local artist Mary Gundry to produce the extremely popular ‘Drawn to Southwold’ is the most obvious success, but the seaside town also stars in the earlier Glynn Thomas book ‘East Anglia – A Different Perspective’ and makes several appearances in the Margaret Glass collection ‘Light Through Glass’.

WIN

To be published shortly by the company is ‘Landmarks – The East Anglian Art of Robert Chaplin’. An entire section of the new book is devoted to Southwold’s pier, lighthouse, beach huts and other familiar subjects – interpreted in a very different way through the artist’s highly individual use of line and colour.

ARTSeast has teamed up with Mascot Media to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a copy of their book Drawn to Southwold, Mary Gundry: Portrait of a Suffolk Artist. To enter, just email your name, address and telephone number to info@artseast.co.uk.

Given the love affair between artists and this Suffolk coastal gem, Southwold seems certain to continue making its presence

Closing date: October 23rd, usual terms and conditions apply

in Mascot Media books, thus providing an excellent excuse for regular visits by the writing and editing team.
