WELCOME We’re in the midst of a whole host of anniversaries at the moment – The Theatre Royal has been celebrating its 200th birthday in 2019 while 2020 marks the 1000-year anniversary of the founding of the Abbey of St Edmund and also 1600 years since a settlement was first recorded at West Stow. We may be somewhat younger but we are still excited to be celebrating our 10th birthday in 2020. It only seems like yesterday that we were walking around a building site wondering what the place was going to be like and we now have a wonderful venue that has hosted many amazing performers who have gushed with praise for its beauty, its acoustics, and for the warm welcome they get. We’re thrilled that The Levellers will be kicking off their tour with 2 nights here and there are welcome returns from Mud Morganfield, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, King King, Lloyd Cole, Ralph McTell and one of our current favourites, Brother Strut.

Fish (former lead singer of Marillion) comes to The Apex for the first time, as do The Jive Aces, Calan and Altered Images, still led by Clare Grogan. The spoken word also features highly this season: Joel Dommett and Stacey Dooley have both already sold out (as has Fascinating Aida) and at the point of writing, Roddy Doyle has just gone on sale, while tickets are quickly disappearing for Rich Hall, Ed Byrne, Kojo Anim, Brian Blessed, Susie Dent and John Challis (Boycie in Only Fools & Horses). Don’t miss the exciting final of the BurySOUND band competition, nor The 545 – great value for money with five bands for a fiver. Throw in some great folk, jazz, classical and world music as well as a smattering of top tribute acts and that’s your entertainment sorted for the beginning of 2020. We’ll see you there!
