Excerpt from the Sunday readings.
(Lectionary 52) Today’s Gospel very simply lays out for us the way to salvation. The disciples are troubled, perhaps because they sense Jesus’ impending departure. Naturally they ask him the central question that most Christians eventually ask: “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus’ response is quite simple. If we focus on knowing and believing in him, then we will find the way. That way leads to the place prepared for us in his Father’s house. It all sounds so easy. Yet each of us knows that sin is the only easy way. We have a choice. Either we take the easy way, or we choose to take up the challenge to follow in the Lord’s footsteps. The wonderful thing is that we never do this alone. We have our community of faith to support us as we all travel the journey that we hope will lead us all to the Father’s house.

“Lift up your hearts!” How do we come to the holy moment when we join with the whole of creation to sing to God what can be sung to God alone: “Holy, holy, holy”?
O sing a new song to the Lord, for he has worked wonders; in the sight of the nations he has shown his deliverance, alleluia. First, Christ gathers us together. We come from our homes and assemble
