Just a Note Summer has officially begun and our team members have been working like crazy to bring you beautiful eye-candy featuring all of our new summer and celebration themed products. Issue 2 of our Whimsy Inspired e-magazine is full of fun in the sun themed goodness that we hope will spark your creativity this season! Whimsy Stamps 1st Annual Weekend Craft Retreat Friday, September 30th through Sunday, October 2nd 2016 Marriott Courtyard Orlando Lake Nona Resort Orlando, Florida Need a weekend getaway to relax and get your craft on? Want to meet new people while learning new crafty tips and techniques? Join us for 3 full days of crafting and classes, friends and fun with some games, prizes and more, all while enjoying a weekend away in sunny Orlando, Florida. This retreat is hosted by Denise Lynn, owner of Whimsy Stamps, with classes taught by our talented Whimsy artists and designers. Our Teacher Line Up: Whimsy artist Crissy Armstrong Whimsy designer Faye Wynn-Jones Whimsy designer Linda Levoir Whimsy designer Alanna Moses Whimsy designer Iris Wiechmann What to Expect: 5 in depth classes taught by our talented teachers - spread out over 3 days - classes will include coloring tips with various mediums, crafting techniques and special projects multiple craft projects each day open room time at end of each day to continue crafting chance to make new friends and have fun with like minded crafters games, prizes, and goodie bags. Event Cost: $359 for the 3 days of classes and projects $100 non-refundable deposit to hold spot, remaining balance due by August 1st, 2016 **Please note this event cost does not include hotel, transportation, or food **We can only accommodate 36 people at this weekend event. Please book early to reserve your spot . Important: Attendees will be required to bring a basic crafting tool kit to the retreat weekend - including coloring medium, scissors, adhesive, etc. A full list of supplies will be emailed to all attendees one month prior to the event. Project and class kits will be supplied to each attendee and will include card stock, papers, embellishments, stamped images, and more. Each attendee will also receive a goodie bag of new Whimsy products not yet available to the public. Double Z Fold Materials Needed: White Card stock about 280 GSM 5 1/2" x 11" White Card stock about 280 GSM 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" Paper trimmer Scoring board Bee Happy stamp set by Crissy Armstrong How To: Pick up the larger piece of your white card LANDSCAPE. Score at 2 3/4" & 5 1/2" and decorate as desired then Z fold your card Pick up the smaller piece of your white card LANDSCAPE. Simply cut a tag shape or use a die, add some stripsof paper. Then rip and tear them to add texture or try a distressing tool to roughen up the edges. Add a little white gesso paint to the edged of the tag for more texture.

Tutorial How to make an aerogram? An aerogram is where the letter and envelope are one and the same. It was used during World War 2 to send secret messages. Ellen thought that was so creative and had to make a modern looking aerogram to share with all of you!

Step 1: Creating the envelope. Ellen used a plastic stencil as a guideline. You can also use an envelope score board or tear a paper envelope open and use that as a guide.

Step 2: The second step was the most fun part; decorating the envelope. In the middle part of this envelope Ellen used the rectangle and scalloped frame from the “Shaker Builder Sweetest Birthday” dies. This is perfect to write your notes on. The inside was further decorated with “Playful Pups” and “Playful Pups Add Ons” and sentiments from the “From a Friend” stamp set.

Step 3: For the outside decoration, Ellen used another dog and sentiment (“Playful Pups” & “From a Friend” stamp set). And the stamps from our “Handmade From Me” stamp set did make this aerogram look like a real envelope.

Step 4: The last step is to give your envelope a perfect closure. For something like this, Ellen didn’t want the recipient to have to tear open the envelope as it would ruin the aerogram. Therefore, she used Velcro on every piece that normally needs glue. The Velcro doesn’t need to be expensive… Ellen actually recycled hers from a cornflake package. :)
