Cycle for the Horses

The Tour De Outback is a cycling event that will take place from June 23rd to June 25th, 2023, in Adel, Oregon. It offers a weekend filled with scenic rides, fun activities, country food, craft beer, and live music. Participants can choose between gravel rides and road rides, each offering different routes and challenges.

The gravel rides will take cyclists deep into the Oregon Outback, starting from Adel and heading south towards California and Nevada. There are two different routes available, including a challenging long route. These rides will allow participants to explore the picturesque landscapes of the region.

On the other hand, the road rides offer three different routes that start from Adel and head north towards Plush, Oregon. Cyclists will pass by lakes and alfalfa fields nestled in the high desert. In Plush, riders can resupply at the Plush Store and decide whether to return to Adel for the short route or continue towards Lakeview for the medium route. The medium route includes a climb over the Plush grade, followed by a descent into Adel, offering breathtaking views along the way.

After the rides, participants can join the Tour De Outback after party, where they can enjoy craft beer, delicious food, live music, and games. Riders will receive a free dinner and one drink ticket.

The event is organized to support The Beaty Butte Wild Horse Training Facility, which aims to preserve the population of wild horses and maintain a thriving ecosystem. The facility gathers horses and prepares them to be gentled, handled, and trained for adoption.

While in Adel, visitors are encouraged to explore the town and its offerings. They can visit Tall Town Bike & Camp in the historic Fetsch’s Building, explore museums, browse local shops, and dine at restaurants. The town of Adel and its community are known for their hospitality and camaraderie.

For those seeking relaxation after the event, the Hart Mountain Hot Springs is a hidden gem located in the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge. The hot springs provide a secluded and natural setting for a post-ride soak, with crystal-clear water heated by natural geothermal activity.

Overall, the Tour De Outback in Adel, Oregon, offers a combination of challenging rides, beautiful scenery, community support, and opportunities to enjoy local attractions and amenities. For more information or to make reservations, visit https://www.tourdeoutback.org/
