NEWPORT FOLK - July 28-30

The 60-year strong Newport Folk Festival takes place annually in Rhode Island and features a lineup of diverse musicians guided by the spirit of kindred folk tradition. The festival has a historic reputation of artists collaborating together on music playing homage to current social justice initiatives. Quickly selling out each year, the Newport Folk Festival is also known `for revealing surprise artists and collaborations. Every artist (over 50 scheduled) on the Newport Folk lineup chooses a music education program they care about and the Foundation makes a grant to that program. NEWPORT JAZZ - August 4-6

Breaking ground since the mid-1950s, the Newport Jazz Festival has a storied history rivaling that of any other American festival hosting artists like Herbie Hancock, Led Zeppelin, Frank Sinatra, Muddy Waters, The Allman Brothers, and Miles Davis. Its current incarnation is jazz on four unique stages on the grounds at Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island. https://newportjazz.org/

STOWE - Step back in time to the days of knights, pirates and jesters to witness the midieval encampments and jousts taking place at the 2023 Vermont Renaissance Faire, June 24-25.

Visitors will be welcomed by a number of performance troupes including rocking pipe & drum band Cu Dubh, joust team Equus Nobilis, the Pirates of Fortune’s Folly, and off-theground aerialists Baechtold & Abel.

Captain Devlin O’Driscoll and his motley crew of pirates are ready to cause some mayhem. Their piratical antics will both entertain and educate audiences of all ages. Whether as strolling characters interacting and taking pictures with your family or live-steel stunt shows, they bring joy to children and amusement to adults of all ages.

The Vermont Renaissance Faire lets you get in on the action, too! Watch a period archery tournament and then try your hand on the archery range or axe throwing. Kids can interact with the cast, period games and even a unicorn! Spend a special day with your family meeting artists, storytellers, wizards, and time travelers.

The Faire includes Medieval-inspired artisans and craft vendors. Enjoy other family-friendly period games, musicians, dancers, acrobats, historical demos, encampments, jousting, Vikings, fairies, knights, jesters, mead and cider makers from around Vermont and tasty food from local chefs.

And the food! Don’t forget the food! You should not go away hungry from this festival with all the available offers. Indulge your appetite with tasty treats, a mead garden, and food from around the world. Yes, there will be turkey legs! There are currently 18 different food vendors listed.
