Goa is the smallest state in India. And one of the tourism in India, Goa remains one of the favorite tourist destination for millions across the globe. Bordered by the Arabian Sea on its west, Goa is blessed in terms of topographical beauty. The state of Goa is divided into two districts North Goa and South Goa its neighbouring states Maharastra and Karnataka. Goa is located on the South Western part of India. It is the smallest state in India Since Goa lies in the tropical zone and is also bordered by the Arabian Sea on the West It was in 1962 that Goa attained freedom from the Portuguese and in 1987 it was pronounced an independent state in India. Panjim is the state capital of Goa and is popularly known as the seat of the Government. Panjim is located on the south bank of the wide Mandovi River and is one of India’s smallest state capitals. It is the place where the first medical school of India was established. The Goa Medical College established in 1842 was also one of the oldest medical colleges in Asia, built by the Portuguese. There is a church in the village of Oxel known as the Our Lady of Sea church that was built in 1899. The people of Oxel celebrate many Christian festivals such as the Sao Joao feast that is celebrated on 24th June, then on 29th June the Sangodd and also the church feast. The Hindus in the village of Oxel also celebrate their various festivals such as in December in the Zetrapal temple they celebrate the zatra along with the dancers of the temple, they also celebrate Shigmo and in December, February, May and August they also celebrate the Kalika Temple Zatra.

Beach Information Candolim Beach: Located 14 kms north of Panaji Goa, the Candolim Beach is a part of a long extension of beach coastline along the Arabian Sea that begins at Fort Aguada and ends at Chapora Beach. This place is also famous as it is the birth place of Abba Faria, Miramar Beach: is situated 1 kilometer ahead of the confluence of Mandovi River and the Arabian Sea. It is situated on the way towards Dona Paula, about 3 kilometers from Panjim, the capital city of Goa. MiramarBeach of Goa is also known as ‘Gasper Dias’. Mandwa Kihim beach is a picturesque beach in Maharashtra. The beach is pristine and unspoilt.

Reach Mandwa Kihim Mandwa Kihim beach is situated 12 miles distant from Alibag. It is 136 kilometers away from Mumbai. Distance by sea from Mumbai is 10 nautical miles. The nearest sea-port is Rewas. Rewas is 6 kilometers away from Kihim. Regular ferry services are available from Mumbai to Rewas. Persons who wish to travel there by rail should alight at Pen. Pen railway station is 85 kilometers away from Mandwa Kihim.

Attractions Mandwa Kihim has a calm and soothing effect on city dwellers. The place is ideal for nature lovers. Forests nearby bloom with wild flowers, Rare birds and butterflies are seen. The famous ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali visited the place often. The Kolaba Fort forms another attraction. It is very near the beach. Just 15 kilometers from Alibag is Chaul. Chaul is a place of historical importance. One may observe Buddhist caves, a church, and a Hamam Khana. A temple and synagogue is also seen. On a clear day, one may see a stunning view over the sea to the Gateway of India. Mandwa village itself possess a number of charms- not least its aesthetic coconut palm groves. Visitors may spend the night at the beach by erecting tents. There is, however, paucity of accommodation options. The only place to stay is a resort of MTDC. Tents can be hired throughout the year except during the monsoons.
