About our cover dog – Lucy WCCT Corgi of the Year, Junior of the Year, and Puppy of the Year 2018 Multiple Herding Group Placements Multiple Best Puppy in Show Winner Multiple Best Junior in Show Winner Something special about the dog: Lucy, known as “Lucky Lucy”, is a South African bred, frozen semen success story! She is very special to Michelle and Lesley as she was their favourite from the moment she was born. She got her nickname, “Lucky Lucy”, at a couple days old, when she picked up an infection and nearly died. She has certainly lived up to her name in the show ring. At her first show weekend, she won Best Baby Puppy in Show and Reserve Best Baby Puppy in Show. She has shown consistency in the ring, with multiple group placings and best of breeds at a young age. More recently, she was Runner up at the Prestigious Goldfields Dog of the Year competition under respected all breed judge Mr Martin Croeser. Lucy also did her kennel proud in winning the Working and Herding Breeds of the Golden Reed Dog of the Year 2019 under honourable judge Mr Bruce Jenkins. All at the young age of two years old!

About our cover dog – Lucy At home Lucy is a lap dog and bed bug and loves to wake her owners up at 4h30am for breakfast.

She enjoys going for long walks on the golf course and loves to run around the house and do laps around the coffee table when she is bored.

Interview with Michelle Tregoning 1) What is your kennel name and when did you register it? This is a lovely story to tell. We are a mother and daughter team! Our Kennel name is Everleigh Corgis and was registered in 2013, however as a young girl Lesley showed and bred corgis under the Penwyn kennel name in the late 1970s and early 1980s before getting married and having children. Michelle and Lesley decided to revisit the love of the breed in 2012. 2) Why were you attracted to Corgi’s as a breed? We have always been a dog loving family. Lesley grew up with Pembroke Welsh Corgis and Michelle fell in love with the breed when our family decided to buy a Corgi puppy in 2011. They are such a loyal, intelligent and friendly breed. Those ears and eyes are enough to melt any person’s heart! 3) If you could meet Queen Elizabeth and her Corgi’s what would you ask them? We would like to sit on her couch and discuss the breed and share funny stories about each others dogs. There is never a dull moment when living with a Corgi!

Interview with Michelle Tregoning 4) Have you imported Corgi’s and from which country? Yes, we have imported from the United States of America. We were fortunate enough to import a dog (Boston) and a bitch (Julie) from Anne H. Bowes (Heronsway Kennels). See below for pictures of Boston and Julie: Our Lucy, GrCh Ch Everleigh Born to Perform JM, is American breeding, born in South Africa. We are grateful to Tim Mathiesen for allowing us to import Louie’s semen into the country. 5) Which dog is your heart dog and why? This is a very difficult question to answer. All our corgis have a special place in our hearts. Each one has a unique character and brings lots of love and joy to our home. However, Boston and Lucy are considered our heart dogs!

Interview with Michelle Tregoning 6) How do you select homes for your puppies and if you do sell puppies do you take out life insurance on them and do you sign contracts with buyers? We are a very small kennel and usually have litters every two or so years. All our potential puppy owners are asked to complete a questionnaire and we do home checks. All our puppy buyers sign Contracts. 7) Do you health test your dogs and why? Yes, we want the best for our dogs and our puppies always! 8) Any advice you would have for someone who wants a Corgi and wants to get on your waiting list (If you have one) Be patient! There are many scams out there! Always do your homework!
