Wellington Swords Fencing Club

Modern fencing has retained the basic aim of duelling –hitting your opponent without being hit yourself. As one of the original modern Olympic sports, it is a game of tactics and speed. Once you are old enough to hold a sword for some time (8 – 9 years) age is no limit. Some of our club fencers are still fencing for Great Britain in their seventies. We welcome all abilities, all genders, to fence socially or competitively. Fenced before? We would love to see you fencing again. For training times etc please email:

Wellington Wheelers

Wellington Wheelers do all sorts of cycling, mostly on the road, around Somerset and Devon. At the heart of our activities are club rides on a Sunday morning, as well as rides on a Tuesday and, sometimes, rides on Thursday evenings. Although we run a series of 10-mile time trials throughout the summer followed by a hill climb up Buckland Hill in early November, we do not consider ourselves a competitive racing club. We structure our rides on selfassessed ability, and riders put themselves in either of the A, B+, B or C groups. All the groups are led by an experienced leader, and our routes and destinations are published on our Facebook page each week.

To join, or to find out more about our rides and activities, go to the website: wellingtonwheelers.co.uk or email: wellywheelers@gmail.com.

Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League

is a men’s league that was formed at the end of the Second World War hence it’s name. It started out with one division but as the games popularity grew the league expanded to two divisions of 20 teams. In recent years however it has been harder to attract players especially younger ones, this linked with pub closures has seen a decline in teams and players. Some teams are always on the look out for new players and if anyone is interested then they can contact the

league either through our website contacts page https://wessl.leaguerepublic.com/l/contacts.html or by contacting the Chairman David Bright on 07843014138

davidbright12759@gmail.com and we will endeavour to put you in touch with a team. If you fancy entering a team we have four vacancies on a Thursday night; again just contact the aforementioned for details, the minimum requirements are that teams are to be composed of eight male players of which two can be under 18 years old but over 15 years old. (Where venue rules permit).
