NEW TO THE

BRIDGE

WELCOME TO THE BRIDGE! We know that you had a choice on where to attend church today, and we’re so glad that you’re here. From the very beginning it has always been our goal to help bring people into a relationship with God and connect them to a Christ centered community. We hope that we can be that Christ centered community you have been looking for.

WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY…

OUR HISTORY On November 20, 1966, with only 17 people in attendance, The Bridge began what has now become a nearly 50 year journey of helping people get to the other side. In 1979, our current Pastors Jim & Linda McNabb, began leading our church with a burden to see people place God at the center of their lives. At the time, The Bridge, was a simple “L” shaped building with just over 100 people in attendance. Today, our church has seen incredible growth and is able to celebrate with many who’s lives have been changed throughout the years. However, nothing that we have done or will continue to do would be possible had it not been for the faithfulness of God and unending commitment of those who have called The Bridge their church home. Whether it was building a new and larger sanctuary, developing a state of the art childrens’ and youth facility, or supporting a missionary across the globe, our church has been blessed by people who are eager to invest into the lives of others. No matter if its helping lost people overseas or hurting people next door, our goal has always been the same. “Helping you get to the other side.”

PURPOSE / MISSION

HELPING PEOPLE GET TO THE OTHER SIDE

Q

WHAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN? Every week, from all across our community, people gather their families, load up their cars, trucks and minivans and drive to The Bridge to attend one of our services. Each person and each family have their own stories, they have their own victories, they have their own defeats. They come with their own stresses. Some have lifelong regrets. Some are just trying to figure out how to be a better parent. Many have served Christ their entire life, others don’t know the first thing about Jesus. Yet we have one thing in common. We are each coming to church looking for answers, guidance, encouragement and purpose. We’re looking to overcome obstacles and to regain control of our life.

The good news is, the answers that we seek, the secret to overcoming, and discovering our purpose can all found in a greater understanding of and deeper commitment to Jesus Christ. Jesus is the center of our “other side” Our goal as a church is simply to help you, your family, and your friends reach the other side of whatever you may be facing by establishing Christ as the center of your life.

Q

WHAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN? We believe that establishing Christ as the center of your life is made possible through 3 strategic steps that you can take by engaging fully in the ministries offered here at The Bridge. When you and your family choose to Connect, Grow, and Serve here at the church, we know that you will begin to discover the pathway to finding your “other side.” Here’s how it works.

CONNECT CONNECTED PEOPLE DO LIFE TOGETHER None of us want to go through life alone. It is never more clear that we can’t do life alone than when we are trying to navigate or overcome obstacles by ourselves. God desires for us to be connected to Him in a daily relationship but he also intended for us to connect with other Christians, who will stand with and encourage us along the way.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” HEBREWS 10:24-25 You will need the relationships that you build here at The Bridge. These are the friends, leaders, and mentors that God has placed in your life to help you get to the other side. Simply, we believe that Connected People Do Life Together. This is why we have developed many opportunities for you and your family to connect with other believers. From services and small groups to church events, we want you to get connected!

GROW GROWING PEOPLE CHANGE As important as connecting is for you and your family, we can’t forget about the equally important need to grow. The only way that you will reach the heights that God desires for you is by placing yourself in a position and environment to grow. Perhaps you’ve heard the old saying, ”if you aren’t growing, then your dying.” Many of us find that our current way of life is not working, and it has become painfully clear that we are in desperate need of change. It is in this moment that we must choose to grow. At The Bridge, we believe that Growing People Change. Many of us find that the reason our lives are not where we want them is because we have forgotten a basic principle: we must daily choose to nurture our relationship with God so that we can grow spiritually strong. It is through this commitment to spiritual growth that we are able to arrive safely on the other side. This is why the involvement of you and your family in our weekly growth opportunities is crucial to your spiritual development and will help you get to the other side.

SERVE SAVED PEOPLE SERVE PEOPLE Connecting and growing are important in helping us discover where we need to go and preparing us to get there. It is serving however, that is often the vehicle used to transport us there. As Christians, we are all responsible for being ministers and distributers of God’s Word. When you study the word “ministry,” you discover that at the core of its meaning is this idea of serving. In scripture, we are reminded that even Jesus made it His mission to serve. “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” MATTHEW 20:28 Jesus understood that by serving, ministry is being fulfilled. When we choose to fully embrace what it means to be a Christian, we are agreeing to a life of service and ministry to others. It is through a life of service and recognizing the value of those we are serving, that we are able to truly reach the place that God wants us to be. The bottom line is, Saved People, Serve People. We believe that your decision to serve in one of the many ministries at The Bridge, will help you get to where God wants you.

WHAT WE BELIEVE The Bridge is a Pentecostal church and a part of the Assemblies of God fellowship. Exploring that a little more, at The Bridge we value diversity. It is our individual heritages, different ages, ethnicities, and even our religious upbringings that make The Bridge an incredible place to worship and a complete representation of what the Kingdom should look like. While we choose not to loudly promote our Church’s denomination or criticize other denominations, it is worth noting that just as we value the diversity and heritage of each of our attendees, we fully embrace our Church’s Pentecostal and Assemblies of God heritage. In embracing that heritage, we are eager to welcome the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and His involvement in our church services.

AS A PENTECOSTAL CHURCH • •

We believe that the God and the Church you read about in the Bible is still the same God and Church you should see today. We believe that same God still heals the sick and works miracles in our everyday lives. We believe in expressive worship. When you talk about deep dark sin, the amazing love of God, the passion of Jesus Christ, forgiveness, grace and the peace of God, it’s impossible to take emotion out of it. We don’t over emphasize emotions, but believe God moves in our emotions. You may see people raising or clapping their hands and praying out load. These are all expressions of worship to a God that we love with all our hearts. We believe in the the Gifts of the Spirit. The Bible mentions 9 ways the Holy Spirit reveals Himself through people to bring them closer to God. You can find those ways in 1st Corinthians 12.

MEMBERSHIP

AT THE BRIDGE WE VALUE MEMBERSHIP Our church is an incredible community of believers who have committed to living their lives together in unity with one another in an effort to reach our city with a message of hope that comes from Jesus Christ. While anyone could remain an attendee at The Bridge, the real value of being connected to a body of believers begins with membership. Membership implies a commitment to The Bridge family. It’s your way of saying “Count on me!” It is our active members of The Bridge who are able to vote on decisions the church makes as a body of believers. In turn, our leadership promises to do our best to meet you and your families spiritual needs. That’s our way of saying, “You can count on us!” If you are interested in more information about church membership, you can visit www.thebridgeag.org/membership
