TRAGEDY

The City of Wanneroo is appealing to Yanchep residents for information relating to the illegal felling of three well established eucalyptus trees at Mary Lindsay Homestead. One of the trees was left lying across the recently built access which leads down to the beach. In addition to providing natural shade, the felled trees are a known species that provide habitat for the endangered Carnaby’s black cockatoo. The damage has been reported to the Department of Environment Regulation (DER) and if anyone has any information about this vandalism, call DER on 1300 784 782. The penalty for a person unlawfully clearing native vegetation is a fine up to $250,000 or three years imprisonment. The neglected heritage listed homestead is supposed to be under video surveillance. The Sun City News is unaware of any film footage of this vandalism incident. Many Yanchep residents believe the Mary Lindsay Homestead project is another Yanchep Two Rocks project that the Mayor, Tracey Roberts, and her council have delayed and forgotten about. The homestead project, like the Oldham Reserve Stage 2 changerooms and new surf club facilities have been ‘in planning’ for more than ten years. As one long time Yanchep resident, who didn’t want to be named, said: “The City of Wanneroo and especially our current Mayor play geopolitical antics with this region. I’m sick and tired of the more affluent suburbs getting priority facilities. Since the new development at Yanchep has taken off, the council haven’t done anything.” Another Yanchep resident said: “We are the forgotten region, the council isn’t interested in what we need up here, it’s a disgrace. We need councillors that live in Yanchep or Two Rocks and willing to stand up for this region.”

From the council meetings . . . Next Tuesday’s City of Wanneroo council meeting consists of 30 different reports in a 416 page agenda - Three of the reports directly affect the North Ward.

Behind closed doors The council will consider three reports behind closed doors - (i) Offer to purchase 196 Gnangara Road, Landsdale; (ii) Contractual dispute related to Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex; and (iii) CEO’s annual review.

The first report relates to the Two Rocks Coastal Management. The report states: “Council considered reports in 2003 and 2004 and approved the commissioning of coastal engineering consultants to undertake a study of the coastal erosion at Two Rocks north of the Two Rocks Marina.”

The council does not provide any details to the general public related to these important decisions. The council’s decision is published one week after the council meeting.

Due to unknown reasons, the study has been stagnant, until recently when the City of Wanneroo received a letter dated 14 August 2012, from the Minister for Transport advising that a grant of $50,000 has been approved for this project.

Civic centre extension Only months ago, the council agreed to extensive extension to the Wanneroo Civic Centre at Dundebar Road.

The grant provided partial funding of the project, the council will need to find the balance. The exact cost of the coastal management options is dependent of the adoption of a suitable option and detailed design/documentation. Since the MRA study clearly indicates that the Two Rocks Marina has been the cause of the coastal erosion to the north of the marina, it is the City of Wanneroo’s administrations view that the council is not liable to fund any coastal erosion management works; budget provisions for such works should be made by the state

government as the owner of Two Rocks marina.

monthly beach surveys to capture seasonal and long term changes.

Administration’s recommendation to the council is: receive the M P Rogers and Associates draft report titled ‘Two Rocks Coastal Management’ dated April 2014; authorise a presentation of the recommendations and coastal management options at a public meeting; and undertake ongoing photographic beach monitoring on a quarterly basis and following major storm events, and six

Changerooms In another report, the council will consider the community’s request to build Stage 2 of the Oldham Reserve changerooms. At last month’s City of Wanneroo council meeting the CEO, Daniel Simms, was requested to prepare a report detailing the council’s financial and resource capacity within the current works budget.

The report states: “Based on the indicative project schedule the (Oldham Reserve) project would not be completed prior to the commencement of the 2015 winter season.” A demountable facility has been offered as an alternative at a cost of $100,000, while the council seeks partial funding from the Department of Sports and Recreation’s facility funding to build the permanent $295,000 facility at some time in the future.

The building is less than 20 years old and considered by some to have been ‘under-built’ in 1999, and without sufficient foresight to the future of the City of Wanneroo and its residents. Originally built for about $20 million, the extensions have been estimated to cost at least a further $25 million. The council is expected to accept a quote submitted by WT Partnership Aust P/L of $212,214 to design the new facility, which is scheduled to be completed by July 2017. Tender prices submitted ranged from $179,000 to $240,800.

Jailed over quad bike accident

Rescued fisherman dies in Perth hospital

A 22-year-old man has been jailed for four years over a quad bike crash that killed an 18-year-old woman near Lancelin, north of Perth.

A man left in a critical condition after he and his neighbour were rescued from waters has died in hospital.

Joshua Bonjour was found guilty of dangerous driving causing the death of Jodie Maree Worthington.

David Navin, 38, and Ivan Hallissey, 36, wound up in the ocean several kilometres west of Two Rocks on the morning of Monday 1 September, after a wave swamped their 5.8m vessel, which had been recently purchased.

Ms Worthington was a pillion passenger on Bonjour's quad bike when it hit a car on a dirt track in September 2012.

They were rescued after an emergency beacon on their boat was activated. Both were wearing life jackets, but Mr Navin was unconscious and was taken in a critical condition to Joondalup Health Campus.

The District Court heard the bike was not designed to carry passengers, Bonjour was travelling at speed, and Ms Worthington was not wearing a helmet. Jurors were told that in the minutes before the crash Bonjour had been captured on security footage speeding and doing burnouts. At the time of the crash Bonjour was on a four-year suspended jail term for a string of offences including reckless driving, driving under suspension and burglary. District Court Judge Patrick O'Neal imposed another 18 months for those offences, in addition to the four-year term for the dangerous driving causing death offence, bringing Bonjour's total sentence to five-and-a-half years.

Both men suffered vapour burns from fuel from the boat that had spilled into the water. Mr Navin died in hospital last Friday afternoon.

Judge O'Neal told Bonjour: "You were intentionally driving in a reckless way for the thrill of it."

court saying "it was important for me that the person responsible understands what he's done".

"Had you been travelling at the proper speed with proper control ... there would have been no collision at all," he said.

Ms Purcell described her daughter as ‘perfect’ and her ‘best friend’.

Judge O'Neal said Bonjour's youth was the "single most important" mitigating factor and he had to be "mindful of the prospect of his rehabilitation". Earlier, Ms Worthington's mother, Paula Purcell, read a victim impact statement to the

She said she cried everyday and was "consumed" about why she could not see her daughter and tell her she loved her. "It kills me inside everyday that her future was taken from her," she said. "I wish I could change things or somehow take her place".

With time already served, Bonjour's earliest release date is in 2017, which angered Ms Worthington's grandfather Barry. Outside the court, he said he could not believe the sentence. "He's already had a previous conviction suspended sentence for four years, how does it work? I'd like to know," he said. Photo: Jodie Worthington was fatally injured when the quad bike she was a passenger on crashed.

"With his family's permission, organs were retrieved earlier today and donated for transplantation," a spokesman for Joondalup Health Campus said in a statement. "The family asks for privacy at this time." Water police and the Department of Transport are investigating exactly what happened, but at this stage police are unsure exactly where the boat sank and do not know if it will be recovered. At this stage they said there was no indications it was not seaworthy. Sgt Wear said: "They have done the right thing, they have the safety equipment, they have life jackets on. It goes to show that no matter what the conditions, you always have to be mindful of the ocean and have all the right safety equipment on board. They are lucky to be found but it shows the search and rescue system we have and all the safety equipment they had on board (works), that's why we were able to find them."

Editorial Newspaper editors are always looking at better and different ways to provide their readers with the best local news possible. Recently, after the City of Wanneroo council made the decision to stop proving their fortnightly “Wanneroo Link’ in the Sun City News, I offered the Mayor, Tracey Roberts, and both North Ward councillors, Norm Hewer and Linda Aitken, the opportunity to publish a regular Mayor and/or councillor column, free of charge. What politician wouldn’t jump at a free opportunity to highlight what is happening? To date, neither the Mayor, or the two ward councillors, have replied directly to this offer. The City of Wanneroo’s manager for communications and events and customer relations, Robert ‘Bob’ Figg, forwarded an email stating: “Thank you for the offer of free space for a column for the Mayor or elected members. “However, after consultation with the CEO and Mayor the City does not feel it is appropriate to take up advertising space that you could otherwise use to attract revenue.” What a joke - I wouldn’t have offered the opportunity, if we weren’t prepared to carry the cost of publishing the proposed column. To me, it just goes to show how little the Mayor and North Ward councillors care about residents and ratepayers in the outer northern suburbs. Or am I expecting too much from our highly paid elected representatives? Do you feel our elected local councillors are doing the job they got elected for? Would you vote for them again? How have you been treated by our elected representatives? I welcome your comments, letters and concerns, I can be contacted on 9561 2500 or at terry@ suncitynews.com.au, and please include your name, address and contact details.

Your letters Cassilda Park Since the Sun City News asked some questions, Cassilda Park has been inspected and mowed. Sadly, once again, the verges on the north side and the east side (Hardy Crt.) were neglected (not mowed). This is the second time in a row that this has occurred. The time before that, a very good job was done – So it’s not ‘too difficult’. Is this an oversight (contractor short cuts), a considered decision or a deliberate vindictive act? None of our volunteer trees (mainly Tuarts) have been replaced at this stage. I would like to see a big shake up in the City of Wanneroo’s conservation/parks department. Community consultation needs to be increased and listened to. As one City of Wanneroo staff member said: “I don’t get paid enough to think about anything special for the community.” We were making progress with some tables and bench seats for Cassilda park. I was sent an aerial photo of the park – Locals could consider where we wanted them.

Sadly, Chris Round put an end to this. I hope we see more community development activity locally – It has been so hard to make any progress, there are so many hurdles. Perhaps we will ‘come of age’ when we get a service station. I have raised this with Yanchep Sun City on several occasions – All I hear is excuses. Two Rocks has been much neglected from day one, we seem to be low priority. Shade and shelter along walk ways and cycle ways are a requirement. Not to mention bus stop shelters along Two Rocks Road. People walking from one end of Two Rocks to the other, don’t know where to ‘spend a penny’. Conservation fencing along walkways prevents one ducking into the bush and achieves little but expenditure. John Clarke, Two Rocks.

Please explain Can anybody explain to me, why was it necessary for the footy club executive committee to present the petition in person with no help from the North Ward councillors?

Is this an example of the mountain going to Mohammed? Well done! Did Linda Aitken (North ward councilor) even know what it was, and why it was needed, when she presented an amendment to approve the extension depending on funding in 2015/16, perhaps? Could it be that it was just a ruse not to do anything? Does she even know where Oldham Park is and what it is used for? Where was North Ward councilor, Norm Hewer, when he was needed? I am wondering why the Mayor, Tracey Roberts, supported this (I believe hastily compiled) amendment so whole heartedly? Hats off to the South Ward councilor, Brett Treby, who took the time and his experience as a councilor to suggest a better course of action to the North Ward councilors. Good stuff Councilor Treby! As the council could find the generous funds to fund themselves, I believe that they can find the funds to fund a 10x10 multi-purpose building for Oldham Park. Martina Thomas, Two Rocks.

Need fuel station I am seeking the community’s opinion on the lack of a fuel service station in Two Rocks. Currently, as you are aware, there is some distance to travel to an operating servo. If going north or east, the first available ones are in Lancelin or Gingin. Considering the rapid growth of Two Rocks and the nearby area of Breakwater Drive a servo is urgently needed. There is ample space to fit one into the current shopping centre car park. So my question is, When are we likely to get one, if at all? Les Couzens, Two Rocks.

Thank you A sincere thank you to all who attended the service that was held on Wednesday 3 September, at the Memorial Wall located at the Yanchep Sports Club to pay our respects to all who took part in the Battle for Australia and to all merchant seamen who paid dearly with their lives during war time. Tributes were laid by John Quigley, Member for Butler and Cr Norman Hewer to honour RSL, Indigenous Servicemen, and Merchant Navy. Joyce Harris, RSL Vice President.

Angelico Exhibition Year 8 Specialist Visual Art students from Irene McCormack Catholic College were awarded third prize overall in the Years 7,8,9 and 10 General 2D category at the prestigious annual Angelico Exhibition, showcasing a range of diverse and highly skilled works from selected Year 7-12 students in Western Australia.

Seabird Tavern liquidators’ report The latest liquidators update report relating to the closure and bankruptcy of the Seabird Tavern, owned by Midpoint Investments Pty Ltd, as trustee for the Seabird Investment Unit Trust, has just been released. The Melsom Robson Chartered Accountants report states that all unsecured creditors will not receive any dividends from the liquidation of the business.

The 18 specialist arts students’ collaborative piece entitled ‘School of Fish’ is a lino-printing project that utilises a more contemporary approach to printmaking.

The Australian Taxation office is owed over $171,000, with a further $19,116.60 for superannuation and just under $2,000 solicitors account.

Each fish has individual characteristics that were created by the students. Placed together, they create a beautiful array of representations of nature.

The report states the National Bank appointed KPMG as receivers and managers to deal with the sale of the property.

The strength of the school of fish, however, is stronger than any individual fish.

The property was sold in September 2013 with no surplus funds arising from the sale.

A large number of the College’s art students from Years 9 to 12 were selected to display their imaginative creations in this year’s exhibition at the Forrest Centre in Perth.

Oddly, it appears there was a prior sale of the property , with the deposit being paid by the way of gemstones. It has been claimed that the gemstones were worth $600,000, however there is uncertainty as to their true value.

Specialist art teacher, Michael Speechley said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the students.

Purchaser, Freah Pty Ltd, then decided not proceed with the deal due to a problem with the sewer capability, claiming inter alia that Midpoint had misrepresented the position.

“Our artworks proved to be very popular, and impressed not only the many staff and students from the college, but many other visitors to this highly respected annual event.”

Whitepartners, business brokers and real estate agents who are in possession of the gemstones have stated that unless there is agreement between Freah Pty Ltd and David Hicks, director of Midpoint, to refund the gemstones; Whitepartners will retain possession in the absence of a court order to do so. The National Bank have advised that they don’t have any interest in the gemstones or any other assets. The issue is currently in the hands of Freah Pty Ltd to commence court action. The liquidator is bereft of funds and is not in a position to participate in the action. The liquidator, however, invites any other party who have an interest in the matter to make submissions to the court. The liquidator is waiting for the ownership of the gemstones to be resolved before they are able to convene the final meeting of creditors. The finalisation timeframe is unknown until the ownership of the gemstones is resolved.

David Hicks, director for liquidated Midpoint has argued that Freah Pty Ltd conducted acts of ‘deceit’ and ‘dishonesty’ which lead to the cancellation of the contract and subsequent liquidation.

Aerial patrols of metro beaches started last weekend. The Westpac lifesaver rescue helicopter will patrol between Yanchep and Mandurah and out to Rottnest, every weekend, this month. It will commence seven day a week patrols from October to April, for about two hours each day.

The Fremantle based helicopter is on standby every day of the year to respond to emergencies on water or land. During the 425 hours of air patrols last year, the helicopter was involved in 37 preventive actions and spotted 126 sharks in the metro area.

Amazing photo from GDC

Facts about the Gingin Leaning Tower

Professional photographer, David Savage, recently snapped this amazing photo at the Gingin Gravity Discovery Centre.

n The Leaning Tower of Gingin was constructed to enable the replication of g r a v i t y experiments by Galileo on the Leaning Tower of Pisa. n The height of the Tower from the ground to the roof is 45 metres. n The inclination of the Tower is 15 degrees, this makes the most Leaning Tower in the World. n The concrete foundations weigh in excess of 750 tonnes. n The Tower weighs approximately 100 tonnes. The Tower is triangular shaped. n The Tower can be lowered to the ground, for maintenance, if required. n Ten levels of stairs allows access to the summit of the Tower. n The Tower has 222 steps to the top observation platform. n Construction of the Tower commenced in May 2007. n The Tower was completed on 4th April 2008. n The Tower is equivalent to the height of a 13 story building. n The Tower is located at the Gravity Discovery Centre off Military Road in Gingin. n The Tower is open to the public Tuesday Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. (Closed Mondays) except for public holidays.

The photo consists on a well-planned timelapse set up - The start trail shot is made up of 100 individual 30 second long exposures that are then blended using dedicated trail software to create the trail. It would have been possible to achieve the same image in just one 50 minute long exposure, however by using the compositing technique it gives the option to make a shot timelapse movie, or use an individual image showing the in blurred stars. To take this kind of image you shoot at a high ISO. ISO is the sensitivity of the sensor to light, the higher the number, the more sensitive the camera is to light. In the case of the star trail shot the ISO was set to 3200. The aperture on of the lens was set to f2.8; this allows the most light into the camera during the exposure, and the shutter speed was set to 30 seconds. The 30 second exposure time was selected because this allows enough time for the camera to record the light, without the stars starting to show the effects of the earths rotation. The camera was mounted on a tripod, set to continuous drive mode and the cable release was locked on for the camera to shoot away. Due to the fact that it was a cold night condensation forming on the lens was an issue. To prevent this, a disposable chemical hand warmer was secured onto the lens using a rubber band. The warmth from the hand warmer helps to prevent the lens from become too cold. David has many photos at: www.facebook.com/pages/David-SavagePhotography/158383570886737

Market gardener serious flight risk Carabooda market gardener, Michael Le, at the centre of an alleged illegal worker racket was described in the Perth Magistrate’s Court, last week, as a ‘significant flight risk’, after he asked for permission to travel to Vietnam. Michael Le was seeking changes to his bail conditions so he could fly overseas for business. The Director of Public Prosecutions opposed the change, despite Mr Le vowing to return to Perth. Mr Le and his brother, Canh, have been charged with money laundering, and harbouring unlawful noncitizens after a multi-agency raid on their Carabooda property in May. Police allege the pair ran a criminal empire through their business interests in primary produce, construction and the entertainment industry. Mr Le’s lawyer, Laurie Levy, revealed the brothers had lost a $7.2 million Woolworths contract and a $3 million IGA contract after they were arrested and charged.

He told the court Mr Le needed to travel to Vietnam to address problems with the construction and export arm of their business empire. Mr Levy said his client had ‘enormous incentive’ to return to Perth because his company was building a $12 million medical centre in Karrinyup and owned farmland valued at $32 million.

Mr Le was born in Vietnam and became an Australian after migrating to Perth in the early 1980s. The court was told his Korean born wife was currently living overseas with their two children. Prosecutor, Sarah Oliver, said Mr Le had strong ties outside Australia and could easily live overseas for an extended period.

She said Mr Le was facing a long term of imprisonment if he was convicted of the charges. Magistrate Colin Roberts said Mr Le would be required to produce a $2 million surety and adjourned the hearing until 11 September, to give him time to find the surety bond. During this time, Mr Le’s defence will also be seeking the return of mobile phones and other property seized during the raid in May.

Chittering wildflower festival The Chittering community is gearing up to celebrate its 21st Wildflower Festival. The four day festival starts on Thursday 11 September, through to Sunday 14 September, with several new activities this year.

established Tale Trail will be open for those wishing to take a stroll through some history of Chittering. Most Festival activities are within walking distance of the Town Hall.

Beach clean up - Can you help? Terry George is organising a ‘Beach Clean Up’ at Yanchep on Sunday 12 October, starting at 10.00am at the Capricorn Esplanade beach access. Plastic forms the majority, about 80 per cent, of the rubbish dumped into the oceans. Of this ten per cent consists of plastic bags. The plastic does break into smaller and smaller pieces, via interaction with sunlight and salt water, however in some areas of the ocean there is dense particulate pollution of plastic forming what is classed as a plastic island. Recruit star, Ryan Smith, after a three week lay off due to injury.

The two clubs have been the clear stand-outs in 2014, with the Pirates holding the edge winning three of the four encounters.

The Pirates finished on top of the league ladder this year and won through to the grand final by defeating Cervantes in the second semi final played in Lancelin on 30 August.

It’s interesting to note that Cervantes’ Brent LeCras and Pirates’ Warren Benjamin, were separated by just one vote in the CMCFL Best and Fairest Awards which LeCras won and between them, the pair polled nearly 50 per cent of the total votes. The Pirates will be keen to welcome back Fox 8’s The

Cervantes will be without their coach, Ken Pense, who was suspended for abusive and obscene language during the second semi final.

Cervantes will be hoping to repeat their 2013 grand final win while their opponents, relative newcomers to the league, will be setting their sights on their inaugural premiership. The game commences at 2.15pm in Moora, Saturday 13 September.

Netball club celebrates 40th anniversary Late last month, about 50 current, inaugural and past members of the Yanchep Netball Club celebrated their 40th anniversary with an afternoon tea at Yanchep Inn. Many great memories and yarns were exchanged and remembered over the generations at the club. Yanchep Netball Club has been successful with many premierships and finals appearance - In their inaugural year they won the 1974 C grade seniors premiership, then followed up with the Seniors BII premiership in 1975. This year, Yanchep has five teams competing in various grade finals. Photo: Group of inaugural members having a laugh.

Redhawks and Eagles in finals This Sunday (14 September), Yanchep front up to a rematch with WarwickGreenwood, at Robinson Reserve, Tuart Hill. The game starts at 2.30pm and all supporters are urged to get down there and ‘scream for your team’.

Over the past few weeks, both Yanchep Redhawks and Gingin Eagles have been competing in their football finals. In the Mortlock League, Gingin Reserves won their second semi-final 14.13 (97) to defeat Dowerin-Wylie 4.6 (30). This weekend’s grand final will see Gingin take on Dowerin-Wylie, after they defeated Toodyay by 11 points. Gingin seniors were knocked out of the finals with a 33 point loss to Toodyay.

Yanchep Redhawks have struggled in this year’s final series. After finishing league leaders at the end of the home and away season, the Redhawks lost to Warwick-Greenwood in the second semifinal by 9 points. Last weekend the Redhawks fronted up to Queens Park in the do-or-die preliminary final. Yanchep ran out 46 point winners. The final score was Yanchep 15.10 (100) to Queens Park 8.6 (54).

The development is over 400 hectares in size, consisting of 5,000 new home lots, four public schools, high school, private college, 41 hectares of parks and open space which will be developed over the next 20 to 30 years depending on the real estate market.

In September 2012, Jarrod and Nick established Acumen Development Solutions.

The project’s vision is to create an active community that blends with the existing town and benefits from its unique coastal location. Stage 1 of the development will start soon with access to the new development from Blaxland Avenue and through The Reef development.

The Wanneroo Show is Western Australia’s largest regional show attracting over 20,000 people each year. Audrey Rowland, Jim Smith and Andy Butcher were awarded ‘Hardest working non-committee members for 2013-14’. The Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group is a not-for-profit organisation providing boating assistance and radio coverage seven days a week with over 40 active volunteers.

Give way to ducklings “This often results in the ducklings attempting to cross roads and cycle paths as they try to get to their destination,” she said. “Ducks on the move have been known to bring major highways and even the Mitchell Freeway to a halt, so we ask motorists and cyclists to try and avoid them without endangering themselves or other road users,” she said.

Photo: Courtesy of Rick Dawson. Spring has sprung in the Perth metro area with ducklings starting to emerge from their nests in search of the nearest wetland, prompting a reminder from the Department of Parks and Wildlife for people to exercise caution on roads near water bodies.

Wildlife officer, Emma Lipianin, said ducks often nested in tree hollows a considerable distance away from the water and once their young hatched, mothers had a long journey ahead of them to bring their ducklings to the nearest wetland.

“While the sight of fluffy ducklings waddling along after their mother is one of nature’s great displays, it can also be a major hazard. “It is best that they are not disturbed while in such a vulnerable state, so we encourage people not to approach them, feed them or interfere with them in any way.” Ms Lipianin said it also was not

uncommon to see ducks and their hatchlings in backyard swimming pools.

“If this occurs, we recommend that people leave gates open if pool access can be supervised and encourage them to leave, without chasing them, so they can find suitable nearby wetlands,” she said. To report sick or injured wildlife, call the department’s Wildcare Helpline on 9474 9055.

Written by veteran playwright Ray Cooney and his son Michael, Tom, Dick and Harry is the story of Tom Kerwood and his wife trying to adopt a baby, but their attempts to impress a busybody social worker are jeopardised by Tom’s useless brothers Dick and Harry.

A Big Thank You to the Gingin Community The 2014 Gingin DHS Gala, held on Saturday 23rd August, was a marvelous success in bringing all of the Gingin community together and raised over $30,000. The Gala was attended by more than 170 people from across the school and broader community. The atmosphere and catering were fantastic with a delicious two course meal prepared from local donated produce, whilst the Recereation Centre hall and front room decorations set a great vibe for the night. A popular finish to the dinner was a dessert dash, which included local cooks donating a dessert and tables bidding for the right to choose their dessert first. The lemon tart took first prize cooked by Nicole Hendry Butler, who also happened to be the co-ordinating cook and decorator of the evening meal and surrounds. Emma Mitchell, the P&C co-ordinator of the evening thanked all those who had supported the evening either through donations or attendance and explained the main purpose of the evening was for fundraising for a playground for the older primary school students. The Gingin P&C had over 120 items donated from local business, local families, Gingin DHS students and teachers which were well received by all those that attended. Items included private dance lessons, face painting, star gazing, local beef and pork producer meat vouchers, mosaic lessons, mountains of manure, man cave hampers, WWII memorabilia, fantastic art created by Gingin DHS students and Moore River holidays. The most popular item was the Garden Art Hand Sculpture created by the Year 7 Art Class. The P and C were exceptionally happy with the night and thanked all those that attended and donated.
