Studio time considered Studio time is thinking time A studio provides you with the space to do this It also provides a space for you to focus Somewhere for you to generate & share ideas Somewhere that’s a base from which to reflect It provides space to experiment & create It provides a space to present your ideas A studio should be a vibrant and exciting space It is your ‘creative playground’ It is a precious space

Just how precious is your studio time?

Well there are 365 days in a year - 52 weeks

but only 30 weeks in an academic year - that’s 210 days

and 26 of those weeks are dedicated to studio time

the other 4 weeks are dedicated to formal feedback & folder preparation

out of this you are timetabled and obliged to attend 2.5 days a week

this equates to 65 days studio time

studio sessions are a minimum of 5hrs per day 10am - 4.00pm

this equates to 325 hours dedicated studio time or 13.5 days....

....so as we can see studio time is indeed very precious

How can I maximise my studio time?

well there are 30 weeks in an academic year & you are free to attend five days a week

and the studios are open from 7.30am until 9pm - 5 days a week

so that’s 150 days open access -13.5hrs a day - 5 days a week

so you can work to the required minimum

or strive for the free maximum?

Please relish & cherish your studio time because it is your time. And remeber, you will never have this opportunity again.
