REMOVES HARMFUL MICROBES WITHOUT AFFECTING THE RESIDENT FLORA Fabrics are an ideal habitat for microbes (bacteria, fungi and yeasts) as they provide them with warmth, moisture and food. Despite regular washing they can be a source of bacterial or fungal infection particularly when the barrier effect of the skin has been compromised by skin conditions or lowered immunity. One way of protecting clothing is to add an antimicrobial finish to the fabric.
The antimicrobial in DERMA SilkINTIMO protects the fabric from microbial contamination thereby helping to control inflammation and bacterial and fungal infections of the skin without altering the natural resident flora. TM
Unlike conventional antimicrobial agents, which release chemical substances that are absorbed by the skin and kill all micro-organisms on it, the antimicrobial used in DermaSilk速 does not release any chemicals. It is fixed permanently on the silk fibre (it does not wash out and remains active for the entire life of the product) and acts as a physical killer of pathogenic microbes by destroying their cell membrane.
DERMA SilkINTIMOTM Therefore Protects Against Infection In Two Ways: As microbes cannot grow on the fabric, there is no migration of them from the fabric towards the skin and mucosa. The microbes that are already infecting the skin and mucosa are rendered inactive when they come in contact with the fabric.

The patients reported an immediate sense of wellbeing in the initial phase of application, even in the first 12 hours,‌ with a decrease of itching within one hour.
Lichen Sclerosus, REDUCTION OF SYMPTOMS WITHIN A MONTH The study assessed the efficacy of DermaSilk速 in comparison with cotton in women suffering from 42 patients with a history of Lichen Sclerosus were allocated to receive either DermaSilk or cotton briefs in addition to their normal steroid therapy.
Results Symptoms such as itching, pain, burning, dryness and dyspareunia (painful sex) - typical of the most widespread vulvar pathologies - were drastically reduced within the first month when using DermaSilk速. At the end of the 6 month study, the improvement obtained in the DermaSilk速 group was much more marked than in the Cotton group. In many cases the symptoms in the DermaSilk group disappeared altogether!
All patients stated that they wanted to continue using DermaSilk速, even after the observation period.

DermaSilk ® IN RECURRENT THRUSH REDUCES SYMPTOMS AND RECURRENCES A Clinical Study looked into the effect of using DermaSilk® underwear in the treatment of recurrent vaginal thrush in women who had not fully responded to standard antifungal therapy using The 96 patients involved in the study were divided into two groups with half wearing only DermaSilk® underwear and the other half only wearing pure cotton underwear for 6 months. Both groups continued to take the same fluconazole capsules as before.
Results In all stages of the study, the women in the DermaSilk® group reported a much more marked and progressive improvement than the ones in the cotton group with regards to: itching, burning, redness (erythema), vulvar irritation and swelling (oedema). The improvements in those who used DermaSilk® continued for the entire duration of the study, whereas improvements in the patients who wore cotton underwear ceased to improve after 3 months.
The study also showed that the use of DermaSilk® rather than cotton underwear helped reduce the number of relapses.

have been designed to last as long as conventional underwear providing that the care instructions are followed correctly.

Please wash by hand or in the washing machine on a delicate cycle at 30°C using non-biological (enzyme free) detergent. DermaSilk® is an animal protein very similar to human hair. It can be washed with a little neutral shampoo (without conditioner or other additives). Do not use bleach, fabric conditioners, stain removers or disinfectants. It is important to rinse repeatedly in plenty of water. Do not spin-dry, tumble-dry, or dry in direct contact with sources of heat (radiators). To remove any stains, soak the garments in warm water and bicarbonate (2 spoons of bicarbonate per litre at 60°C) for 2-3 hours before washing normally.
