2024 President’s Message Our members' passions create stronger communities! Thank you for joining us tonight to celebrate the dedicated group of volunteer leaders and members who contribute so generously of their time and talents to San Mateo County, our cities and communities. I am grateful to be marking this occasion with my daughter, Gaby, my parents, and siblings present along with honored guests including our California Association of REALTORS® CEO John Sebree, elected officials from throughout our county, and my esteemed colleagues on the SAMCAR Board of Directors. As a Realtor, when I’m asked “what do you do?” my answer is, I make people’s dreams become a reality. We have chosen a career that puts a lot of responsibility on our actions, frame of mind, intentions, behavior, and business practices, because we have a responsibility to make our country, state, counties, and communities stronger and the environment healthier. Our members volunteer with PTAs, Rotary, Lions clubs, medical facilities, churches, emergency services, public office, schools, SPCA, organizations dealing with environmental issues, domestic violence, feeding the hungry, homelessness, promoting education, mental health organizations and so much more. With such a profound role in our communities, and the ability to reach our spheres of influence, Realtors have the capacity to produce a meaningful ripple effect. We can be one of the strongest advocacy organizations in the country if we are unified in our purpose to promote homeownership, protect property rights, build the missing middle and affordable housing, and address tenant and housing provider issues from a fair and common-sense approach. 2024 is an election year with notable challenges at the ballot in several of our cities. Please get involved with local campaigns, register to vote, and, of course, vote. With collective efforts, driven by our deep connections to our communities, we stand to impact policy decisions and benefit our cities.
