Hello there! My name is Maggie and my husband’s name is Ben. We got married last year at the Lakeside Gardens Le Grande. Nestled right in the middle of our modern city, this place is known for their private gardens. I

decorating the surrounding area with our memorable photos, a great way to see how far we have come just by looking at them.
Unexpected Cat
Even though it has been a year since our wedding, Ben and I would occasionally talk about how wonderful it was to marry each other. Whenever he smiles during our conversation, I would remind myself to never take him for granted. Until this day Ben would sometimes whisper into my left ear and say ‘Maggie, I am so happy to be with you today’ and I would reply ‘Ben, I cannot imagine a day without you’.
Chapter 2
An Unexpected Friend Friends are born, not made. - Henry Adams -
Ben and I did what most couples do after marriage; we bought a small home for ourselves. There were many stray cats staying around our area. There was one cat in particular that caught my attention.
Unexpected Cat
This cat had the most beautiful pair of eyes we have ever seen; planets and stars can be seen in them. He has silky brown fur that shines under the sun. His white paws are often stained with dirt from his adventures outside. I asked Ben, ‘Dear, can we keep him? He is adorable’. He replied ‘Hmmm, alright, lets try this out.’ ‘Great! What should we name him then?’ We eventually decided on ‘Bruno!’ Looking back at it all, it is true that friendships are forged when you least expect them to.
Chapter 3
Getting To Know Bruno It’s sharing the small things in life that makes the biggest memories. - Austin Bieda -
Bruno is skinnier than the rest of the cats in the neighbourhood. The adorable thing about him is his brown and white fur which he grooms so very often.
Unexpected Cat
Bruno is also very persistent about getting what he wants. There was one time he sneaked into our home and tried to act as a house cat. We never gave in to this one request of his. Coming into our home was off limits for Bruno and he knows that.
Unexpected Cat
As Bruno grew closer to us, he became more vocal about the things he wanted, like his cravings for chicken flavoured snacks. He would often ask for more whenever his mother comes around. His mom, with white fur and ocean blue eyes, would gracefully come up to him to share his snacks. Bruno, with his kind heart, would never fail to please.
Chapter 4
The Cat Fight Strong people stand up for themselves, but stronger people stand up for others. - Unknown -
Bruno came back to our doorsteps one day making a very faint sound, not the usual strong ‘meow’ you would get from him. Ben shouted to me ‘Dear, you have to come here and look at this!’ I ran over and saw a small scar mark at the back of Bruno’s neck, a patch of dry blood covering it, evidence that another cat attacked him.

We were worried at first and did not know what to do. Fortunately, our neighbour witness the whole event and told us that Bruno was actually defending his mom. Apparently, another cat was stealing his mom’s food and Bruno stepped in to protect her. After hearing that, Ben and I went straight to Bruno and said ‘Bruno, we are really proud of you’.
Chapter 5
A Happy Family Family is not an important thing. It’s everything. - Michael J. Fox -
Since the catfight incident, Ben and I decided to let Bruno and his mom into our home, to be part of our family. Bruno was not sure on coming in on the first day. He twitched his head from side to side, finding it hard to understand why he could finally enter our doorway. He did so eventually with satisfaction and pride in his eyes, together with his mom behind him.
Unexpected Cat
Ben, while witnessing this whole event with joy, whispered into my left ear and said ‘Maggie, I am happy to have Bruno as part of our family’.
