When the electrical & fire alarm contractor PHF were commissioned to provide Fire Evacuation LED Lightboxes for the Skyscraper 22 Bishopsgate Building they immediately engaged with specialists Arken.

Arken designed and manufactured a bespoke LED Lightbox to meet the building regulations. Design4Retail’s latest collaboration with Wild Science Lab saw the launch of a botanical shop-in-shop in the newly built Printemps department store in Doha, Qatar.

Following their research into the wider marketplace to establish an understanding of the current landscape, the agency’s designers curated a cohesive retail strategy which they later transformed into an impactful and comprehensive shop-in-shop concept. To demonstrate the brand’s expertise in naturally-derived skincare, a hero ingredients wall was incorporated to frame the space. Each ingredient is displayed in a glass petri-dish-inspired container to reinforce the scientific aspect of the brand and products, giving customers more transparency over what they are using in their hair and on their skin. The moss wall backdrop creates a tactile and sensory moment, softening the science and paying homage to the products’ naturally-sourced ingredients.

Design4Retail delivered a shop-in-shop that was leveraged to attract and engage with the audience, forming a retail space that resonates and connects with a decision-fatigued, choice-rich customer. By combining retail strategy acumen, responsive design, and an in-depth understanding of the beauty and wellness landscapes, the brand generated a torrent of traction on its debut into physical retail.

Unibox partnered with Onefine Day, Commission Studios, and 93Ft to bring the aesthetic of the iconic 1970s American roller rink, Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace, to life at their new 34,000sq ft west London entertainment destination.

The Grade II-listed former power station is now home to a new roller-skating rink, live music venue, diner and pro skate shop.

Their brief was to engineer and manufacture LED lighting elements of the Flipper’s brand. This included a huge 6-metre diameter ceiling installation.

The large, illuminated sign suspended over the dining area is 6 metres in diameter and is the venue’s focal point. Unibox carried out a survey to assess how the enormous sign could be engineered in separate sections to fit through the standard size doorway, then assembled on -site. The end result matches the concept render and is a striking lighting installation that celebrates the iconic 1970s American roller rink brand.

The Unibox team also engineered and manufactured the ceiling lighting grid for the venue’s skate shop, which is located where there is no natural light on the ground floor of the building. The team ensured that it met with the client’s specific colour temperature requirements.

Heritage bike brand Raleigh wanted a striking large-scale exhibition stand that would impress for the 2023 Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the Birmingham NEC.

John E Wright & Co. designed and built the exhibition stand and by collaborating with Unibox, they were able to bring the concept to life.

As a long-standing Unibox client, John E Wright wished to support their sustainability objectives by re-using and integrating their existing Unibox System of aluminium profiles. As Unibox System is compatible with the full Mod-U-Lok range, the Unibox team were able to engineer a solution which meant that the client’s existing Unibox System box profiles could be integrated with Mod-U-Lok and Ledge 135 Lightboxes.

The Unibox team and John E Wright worked together to develop a sophisticated modular structure to promote the Raleigh brand with its striking brand colours, while showcasing the hero bike products and complimentary biking accessories. The overall aesthetic objective of bringing the outdoors in was achieved with large back-lit visuals, wood finishes and the engineering-style of the arches.

Mod-U-Lok is easy to install, reconfigure and can be assembled tool-free, making it ideal for re-use in both exhibition and retail settings.

The launch of a new Green Star System and Green Card in March this year, from Antalis Packaging, will support customers to transition to a more sustainable future.

With market demand growing for eco-friendly packaging solutions, Antalis Packaging is continuously exploring new products and services to make it easier for customers to address their environmental challenges.

The launch of the Green Star System and Green Card follows a survey Antalis recently conducted in partnership with IFOP among its customers in six countries (Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland and UK).

The study revealed customers’ CSR commitment, particularly in the areas of packaging, where the impact on the environment makes it a major issue for companies. According to the survey, environmental friendliness is the third most important consideration when buying packaging. Circular economy, carbon footprint and product origin are also factors.

Antalis’ Green Star System and Green Card makes it easier for companies to access environmental information about products as well as compare their performance against a set of criteria.

The Green Star System for packaging

This classification concept is a rating system grounded in a strict set of criteria (recycled material, bio sourced material, technical recyclability etc.) that is measured meticulously and consistently.

Antalis Packaging’s aim is that by 2025, 100% of its Master’in products (own brand label) and 50% of suppliers’ packaging products have an environmental rating.

The Green Card

This is an information concept that provides customers in-depth environmental product information. It includes multiple criteria such as recycled material, bio-sourced material, technical recyclability, reusability, GHG emissions, product certifications and origin.

Designed and validated by certified environmental experts, these two initiatives provide comprehensive information on environmental products and encourage Antalis customers to select the best eco-friendly packaging solutions.

John Garner, Antalis Packaging’s Head of Sustainability, Innovation and Design comments: “We’re committed to meeting our customers’ needs in terms of sustainable development, particularly with regard to their high expectations on the transition to an efficient and improved circular economy. With the launch of the Green Star System and the Green Card, we are supporting customers to make informed decisions about their choice of packaging materials.”

Creative Idea understand that sustainability is undoubtedly at the forefront of every brand and retailer’s agenda, future proofing for the next generation. It is great to see companies working hard on their sustainability efforts, making steps to reduce their environmental impact and it is even better when the company get to work on these types of projects too.

Creative Idea worked with BSH Home Appliances providing support on a reuse and recycle point of sale project. Adhering to the company’s commitment to enable sustainable consumption through circular economy solutions, they collected 20 pieces of existing retail furniture and re-purposed them to allow for an extended lifecycle in John Lewis stores. Known as a closed-loop usage model, this project used creative thinking to eliminate waste and what’s more, the units had already been re-purposed twice before. Circularity at its best!

The companies involvement consisted of the collection, clean down of existing units, print production, assembly, rewrapping, delivery, and installation to each site.

They will also be revisiting the stores to re-collect, re-clean and return all units back to storage; ready to be used again. Creative Idea would love to help more brands with forward thinking ideas like this, so please get in touch if you think they can help you too.

The portico of Fenwick Bond Street was transformed with red, white and blue for Kings Coronation

For the historic Coronation celebrations in London, the Fenwick Bond Street department store paid tribute to the King decorating its porchway entrance in a phenomenal, floral display of blooms. The portico of the famous building was adorned to produce a marvellously impactful and cleverly constructed arch of coronation colours.

Led and masterminded by the creative vision at Propability handling the design and installation a fabulous vision was bought to life through clever structural engineering and expert project management and know-how.

Propability designed the metal work and went about co-ordinating the build including the required structural engineering reports to ensure it was fit for purpose as well as managing the requirements of the project and various building restrictions. The design and specifications required careful planning and a team of Riggers to help attach the construction. Cleverly shaped U structures that slid over the existing balconies were used to attach the 400 kilograms of mild steel supporting structure which spread across two floors.

Metal work was organised externally by Practical Minds following the drawings designed and specifications supplied by Propability. Flourish Trading was used as a supplier for the flowers.

Over 4000 flowers were supplied in total by Flourish Trading in white, pink and green which were then sprayed by Propability. The flowers can be upcycled by Fenwick for future schemes.

The job was turned around in 6 days.
