Noble Gift packaging Ltd were recently commissioned by the Watches of Switzerland Group to design and develop a luxury display system for their newly developed Mappin & Webb concept stores in York & Guernsey.

The brief required Noble to develop a display system that aligned with their new showroom design. It needed to be modern, flexible and befitting of a luxury brand. They were required to design and produce new jewellery displays and components which elevate the visual merchandising of diamond rings and jewellery collections. The new displays and components needed to be visually impactful, flexible to work across differing store types, space and product densities and be luxury in execution. The new system utilises soft micro-suede which was carefully colour matched to the brand colour way, alongside brushed nickel detailing. Underneath the components it cleverly uses magnets to hold the individual display items in place for neat VM standards, while also allowing the placement of metal pricing without the need for visible locators on the display. To complement the display and ensure the customer journey was seamless, the company also designed the presentation kit which included; brushed nickel counter top mirrors, presentation trays with interchangeable jewellery inserts, desk top pads and real leather drinks coasters. In the summer of 2023, Creative Idea had the pleasure of designing, producing, and installing this stunning multi-element retail campaign for a new fragrance launch, creating feelings of major summer vibes for shoppers instore and passersby. The photos capture the true beauty of each individual piece of boutique retail furniture, transporting the minds of the shoppers in Harrods straight to the Mediterranean island of Capri. Creative Idea supported with a suite of POS items including a showstopping oval shaped entry vestibule, a backwall display complete with plenty of shelving for product placement, and a window display featuring revolving hero products. Themes of lemon groves, tones of gold, and the distinctive Italian Majolica print ran through the printed artwork of this summer inspired campaign. Reusability was at the forefront of the client’s mind with this campaign. The Boutique window display was designed around a permanent structure fixed inside the main window frame allowing all promotional activity to be regularly updated with ease. This also helps going forward with waste reduction as the permanent construction creates a rotary solution.

Delivering Barbie to London, Propability worked in partnership with Blue Kangaroo Design and Mattel to bring the windows of Selfridges and Hamleys to life for the launch of the film. Girl power at Selfridges Two windows were created by Propability for the famous department store using designs by agency Blue Kangaroo. A disco scene from the movie that included the real costumes worn by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling was delivered. The floor was printed and mounted to MDF to look like a retro bullseye dance floor. The back wall was made from Barbie pink, and gold shimmer panels that were fixed to painted MDF flats and the angled side walls were adorned with purple shimmer curtain that had coloured lights directed onto them to create an ombre effect. Prop elements included an array of hanging gold mirror balls in varying sizes and gold palms sat in gold metallic pots. The mannequins were purchased ‘off the shelf’ and adapted to take on the poses visualised by Blue Kangaroo from the movie, elbow and shoulder joints were adjusted and re-fibreglassed. Finally, a window frame housing chasing bulbs was made using MDF with a Barbie pink spray finish and movie logo applied. The second window at Selfridges was inspired by the Barbie Dreamhouse and incorporated a giant Barbie doll box within the window and giant replicas of a dressing table and chair were made, with oversized props sourced for the dressing tabletop mirror and cut-glass perfume bottle. Two mannequins were used, one was positioned inside the giant Barbie box and was sprayed pink to differentiate it from the ‘real life’ mannequin outside of the box. Both mannequins were dressed in costumes that Margo Robbie wore in the movie. Inside the giant doll box were Selfridges products, positioned where the accessories would be attached in a real-life Barbie doll toy box; a hat, bags and roller skates. These were suspended on clear acrylic rods attached to the back wall. The backdrop was painted sky blue to emulate the location of the dream house and a fretwork panel was cut using the B from the Barbie logo to create an internal backdrop.

Barbie at Hamleys For Hamleys Regent Street and Hamleys Westfield, ombre effect pink backdrops were created using a spray finish. Acrylic character cutouts slotted into large bases made of MDF spray painted pink to match the floor. Palm trees, logo and window vinyls were applied to each store. For Hamleys Regent Street, the Barbie logo was incorporated as an eye-catching light box within the backdrop and the palm trees were printed on clear acrylic to give the window more depth. Tyrone Cano, Head Honcho at Propability: “Working in partnership with Blue Kangaroo for Mattel was a perfect collaboration, all backdrops, vinyls, characters and overall design was created by Blue Kangaroo with us bringing the vision to life, sourcing, engineering and installing all windows to ensure all the elements came together for the final finish.” Contact: t: 020 8687 1030 e: info@propability.co.uk w: www.propability.co.uk Photography credit: Andrew Meredith

Launching to an invited audience of designers and clients from multiple industries at Bounce, Old Street, London, MD Simon Wheeler hailed the event a 'huge success'. Stylo showed off the capabilities of their latest print technology during the course of the evening with a gallery of art pieces, printed with texture, movement and amazing Styglow neon inks, all under a black light setting. Guest appearances from Magician Jake Banfield and graffiti artist Luke Grant added further theatre to the event. The Kudu by swissQprint boasts ten colour channels, allowing two to be dedicated to StyGlow Neon ink, the others providing CMYK, Light Cyan, Light Magenta, Varnish & White. The Qprint is an excellent addition to their printer family, following the company ethos, 'Always Innovating In Print', says Wheeler. It prints to a size of 3240 × 2030mm and a roll width of 3200mm, with up to 50mm clearance allowing them to print to a wide range of substrates. It has strong environmental credentials – the machine runs off just 2.2kWh, equivalent to the average kettle, a first for such an industrial sized printer. When it comes to innovation, quality and speed in graphics, the Kudu has it all built into its DNA. Stylo can create eyecatching movement by adding a third dimension to the print process. Multi-layer ink printing allows for textured print, thick enough for braille and sufficiently detailed to replicate art masterpieces. Add spot varnish and you’ve got the full ticket. The company will be holding other events to celebrate the printer’s arrival at Stylo in the coming months. In the meantime, why not pay a visit to their production facility which has been described as a 'Playground for Creatives'. CREATIVE RETAIL AWARD WINNER 2023 As innovators of eMTBs, Haibike challenged Design4Retail to create an immersive retail destination for expert riders by executing a high-impact branded space on the mezzanine floor inside RaceCo Cycles’ premium cycle store in the West Midlands. It was vital that we created a space that was reflective of Haibike’s ethos and high-end product range by delivering a superior brand experience that would increase purchase desirability and preference. Following initial discussions with the brand, which included presenting a handful of mood boards and a menu of creative directions to understand the client’s preferences, “Industrial luxe” became our overarching design focus. Sitting at the top of the stairs, the Haibike brand adopts half of the store’s first floor space. Using the concession’s predetermined in-store location, we sought to wrap the shopper in the brand of Haibike. We also explored an array of design options that would incorporate elements of the outdoors into the visual merchandising areas. Since many Haibike customers undertake research online before viewing the products IRL, we saw it important to activate the space using technology to help customers to seamlessly navigate this omnichannel shopping journey. Alongside incorporating topographical forms into the plywood flooring of the display to depict mountainscapes and their elevation, we displayed lifestyle imagery and included biophilic design elements to help the customer to imagine the bikes in a more natural setting evoking an emotional connection with the product in the process.

The product-centric displays use a black mesh grid framing system that not only represents the structural aesthetic of the bikes, but also creates a flexible VM solution which helps to zone the space for a more purposeful customer journey. The 3D nature of the wall bays further contributes to the space’s overall interactivity, and as customers further immerse themselves with the brand and its products, they will notice embodiments of Haibike’s shark fin logo throughout the concession’s design. Upon exploring a myriad of digital touchpoint options, we implemented tablet devices displayed on lecterns so shoppers can easily view and cross-reference product specifications, as well as digital screens displaying campaign messaging and dynamic ‘lifestyle’ media portraying the brand’s personality. Together with displaying a selection of bikes and guiding the shopper from one side of the store to the other as they browse the range, a free-standing midfloor unit that sits between the opposing bays inspires customers to consider a selfie moment, working towards the brand’s objective of building “front-of-mind” awareness as they share the user-generated content on their social channels. Callaway Golf asked for Creative Idea’s expertise and support on a complete performance centre redesign at the prestigious Celtic Manor resort, as part of their ongoing High Performance Partnership strategy. Wanting to reflect a legacy of ‘golfing excellence’ in their existing Fitting Centre at the resort they asked for the company’s help to create a state of the art, custom fit environment for their clients. Creative Idea took the initial brief from concept creation, through technical development, to full manufacture and final installation, a truly comprehensive level of support and one that made it all hassle free for the client. They have transformed a rather tired looking room into a place where the Callaway customers will feel truly special, be immersed in the brand, and have plenty of opportunity to view and interact with a wide range of product. The design has made the on-site fitter’s life a lot easier with all the elements required for a successful fit on hand.
