Who we are Cornwall Care is the largest independent provider of care in Cornwall. Our team is made up of over 1,400 skilled and committed people.

O

ver the years, we’ve built on firm foundations, growing steadily to meet the changing needs of older people and other vulnerable adults we care for.

And hardly a year goes by when we are not publicly recognised for achievement in areas such as care home design, customer service and staff training. Although we’ve grown substantially over the years, our objectives have remained the same as they were in 1996 – to use the latest facilities and practices, to provide the highest quality care available for every individual.

My Choice Working In the Community Our My Choice team cares for people living in their own homes across the whole of Cornwall.

O

ur role is to make sure that everybody retains as much confidence and independence as possible in familiar surroundings.

Our highly skilled and dedicated team receive continuous education and training to make sure they provide the best care and support possible for people in their own homes. Our home care caters for people of all ages with a wide variety of specialist needs. For us, it’s not just about delivering a service, we make sure that we create a warm and supportive environment to help people carry on their everyday lives. We form close bonds with the people we care for which means that our services are tailored to each individual. Our flexible approach means that our care can evolve and adapt alongside the people we support if their needs should change.

To join the My Choice team you need: • To be over 18 years old • A driving license and access to a car? • To be able to work shifts, including weekends

My Place Working In Our Care Homes We have 16 residential and nursing care homes in Cornwall. Each one is registered with the Care Quality Commission and focuses on looking after the individual, offering a unique and extraordinary environment for our residents.

O

ur homes are called My Place because we want our residents to think of My Place as their place, this creates a home from home environment for everyone.

All our homes are different. They were built at different times in very different locations. We are constantly improving and refreshing our homes and ensure all homes are clean and rooms are refurbished on a regular basis. As well as residential care, nursing care and specialist care for people with dementia, we also offer physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Each home has a range of activities from hairdressing to exercise and music to gardening, even a bit of baking. We do our best to ensure our residents still get to do all those things that they love to do.

Admiral Nurse Team Admiral Nurses specialise solely in dementia care. They provide families and carers with emotional support and the tools and skills they need to understand and take care of someone suffering with dementia.

W

orking in partnership with Dementia UK to help families throughout the dementia journey. As well as practical and psychological support, our Admiral Nurses can offer advice on tough decisions, such as treatments and residential care. They also liaise with other healthcare professionals on behalf of the family, helping them understand the different areas of the health and social care system involved with their loved one’s condition. Admiral Nurses provide a free service which is initially offered on a short-term basis, but family carers are easily able to access support as they need it. Usually working with people caring for dementia sufferers in their home, but if someone’s loved one is in a residential home we can still offer assistance and advice if it is needed. Admiral Nurses are available to support families throughout the dementia journey. They provide family carers with the tools and skills to best understand the condition, as well as emotional and psychological support through periods of transition.

Supported living We provide personalised support for people with mental health issues and learning disabilities to help them live in their own homes. Our tailored care packages are for individuals with complex needs, including those with physical health and mobility issues.

O

ur staff are trained to meet the unique requirements of the people we care for. We build teams of highly skilled support workers and our personalised approach means that we can help out in someone’s home or supported living flat for up to 24 hours a day. We also maintain good working relationships with other health professionals and any social support agencies that are involved in someone’s care. This ensures we can provide a complete overview of all their needs. Our aim is to promote independence and help people to develop the skills they need to live with as little help as possible. We give those with degenerative disorders increasing levels of support in the areas that they find most challenging.

Reasons to work with us Your Education and Practice Development Cornwall Care Services Limited are ideally placed to support your training needs from within its own training centre. All our new staff will attend a thorough induction programme prior to starting work in one of our services. And it doesn’t matter if you join us with no formal qualifications, we will help you gain these through the completion of common induction standards and potentially a Level 2 Apprenticeship. For those who join us who already hold qualifications there are still options open to you to progress even further with Cornwall Care. 1. Nurses - a vital service Our nurses are part of a team that provides a vital service to our clients and who always look at ways to improve the quality of care.

T

o be a nurse at Cornwall Care means to practice the skills and attributes of your profession alongside clients, providing direct care and working with others in the care team. We want nurses who put understanding, empathy and kindness at the heart of all they do. We want nurses who are professional, want to grow and develop their practice and have a passion for excellence in care. Our services are diverse and we know that nurses provide a key part of what can be very complex care. So we focus on supporting nurses with mentorship programmes, supervision and professional development. The support our nurses are given also ensures all their mandatory and statutory training is up to date as well as clinical skills. Cornwall Care offers professional support through the Clinical Lead, education and development through the Education and Practice Development team and Human Resources to offer pastoral support.
