Express Notes 80 And Done: With a 94-87 win in OT, Owens ended Mott’s 80-game regular season home winning streak on Dec. 30 to improve to 4-1 on its six-game road trip. Dynamic Duo: Sophomores John Murry (19.1 PPG) and Shaakir Lindsey (17.7 PPG) are currently 1st and 5th among league players in scoring heading into conference play. OT Love: Owens finished the first half of the season with three OT games, two of which went to double OT. They are 2-1 in them. Offensive Prowess: Owens is averaging 95.6 points per game and shooting 47.6 percent from the field as a team. They have 12 games of at least 90 or more points, seven of which have seen at least 100 points. Depth: Owens has six players averaging double figures in scoring. The No. 11 Owens Express travels to Dayton, Ohio to take on the Sinclair Tartan Pride in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) opener for Owens. Sinclair enters the game 0-1 in league play after its 91-87 loss to Lorain County last week. Prior to that loss, Sinclair had won five in a row. Meanwhile, Owens is in the midst of a six game road stretch in which it has won four of five. In their most recent game, Owens ended Mott’s (Flint, Mich.) 80-game home regular season winning streak.
Last Year’s Results Owens finished 3-0 against Sinclair last year, including a 104-90 victory in the district semifinals. During the regular season, Owens defeated Sinclair 116-92 at home on Feb. 8 before hading them a 104-99 win at Sinclair on March 1. Owens averaged 108 points over those three games.

Tartan Pride Notes Trio Tallying Double Figures for Sinclair: Sinclair has three players averaging in double figures this season. Westley Parr is at 17.4 per game, Manny Powell averages 16.6 and Michael Tillman chips in 12.2 per game. Powell Earns National Honors: Manny Powell is the reigning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II men’s basketball player of the week. He averaged 25 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game from Dec. 15 - Jan. 4. Price Wins 200th: With his team’s 87-60 win over Miami University - Hamilton on Dec. 30, Sinclair head men’s basketball coach Jeff Price picked up his 200th career win at the college. Coleman Crushes Tartan Pride: Lorain County Community College’s Marvin Coleman poured in 41 points to lead his team to a win over Sinclair on Jan. 3. For his efforts, he was named the NJCAA Division III national player of the week.
