AT FIRST GLANCE Owens Invitational - The Owens Invitational will feature 30 teams from across the nation. - Six teams ranked in the NJCAA Division II poll will play here this weekend including Parkland (1), Owens (9), Columbus State (10), Grand Rapids (16), Oakland (18) and Catawba Valley (19). Furthermore, Kankakee and Waubonsee both received votes, but fell just short of the top 20. - The No. 5 NJCAA Division III team, Lorain County, will also be in the SHAC this weekend.

WEEKEND RECAP Battle for the Dells - Wisconsin Dells, Wis. The No. 9 Owens women’s volleyball team opened its regular season this past weekend with four matches in the Battle for the Dells Invitational in Wisconsin Dells, Wisc. The team opened up on Saturday with a pair of straight set wins over Waubonsee and Highland C.C. - Illinois.

On Sunday, the team fell in straight sets to NJCAA D-I No. 12 Indian Hills before bouncing back to sweep Carl Sandburg College. Taylor Purcell produced 34 kills with a team-high .438 hitting percentage over the four matches.

Brooke Gyori totaled 55 digs with double digit totals each match. The duo of Deanna Smith and Christine Tylutki led the way in assists with 68 and 54, respectively. Gyori (11 aces) and Tyanna Smith (12 blocks) had team-highs in those categories.
