It’s with indescribable pride and joy that we’d like to introduce you to Oklahoma Christian University. OC is our mission central, our lab for life, our big backyard, our quiet place, our memory maker ... our home. OC is a true original. And we’d like the chance to show you how we roll.

IN THIS HOUSE ...

WE ARE HANDS AND FEET If you like dirt under your nails and a healthy ache in your muscles. If you have a tendency to run toward the hurting and jump with the joyful. If feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and sheltering the stranger are right up your alley (or if you want them to be), then you’re in the right place. We live Jesus loud at Oklahoma Christian. And His call to love others and spread the Good News shapes everything we do. From VBS in Mexico to digging wells in Africa to flying kites with kids in our own backyard, you’ll never run out of ways to serve at OC. And everything we teach you, from aerodynamics to onomatopoeia, we’ll show you how to use for the Kingdom.

We have 10,000 hands and feet between us. See how God’s putting them to use at oc.edu/v1.

WE DO SMARTS WITH HEART At OC, you’ll learn right alongside masterful teachers and world-class experts. We have NASA scientists, Oxfordtrained theologians, and black-suit government types (we can’t even tell you what they used to do). We’ll expand your thinking as we sharpen your ability to articulate ideas and put them into action. And act you shall. We’re in the thick of the game everywhere – Harvard, Stanford, the Air Force, the White House, the NBA, Apple, the Associated Press, Feed the Children, Sonic, Conoco Phillips, Mercy Hospital, and the list goes on and on and on. We’re unflinchingly Christian and undeniably top tier.* Bottom line: This is where you’ll learn. This is where you’ll go places. This is where you’ll grow.

*The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report call our education one of the best in the west. We show off our smarty pants at oc.edu/v2.

WE LIKE HIGH FIVES

WE PAINT THE TOWN Get your foot in the door on the top floor. Internships, shadowing, mentoring, and jobs are literally just around the corner. And when you step off the elevator, a bigleague city awaits. 200 restaurants. A world-class zoo. 23 museums. 10 live theaters. 10 movie theaters (2 drive-ins). 4 lakes. 100 miles of trails. More than 100 events and festivals. The tallest slide in America. Kiteboarding. Rock climbing. An Olympic boathouse. Hockey. Baseball. The NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. In a city of 1.2 million, nestled in CNBC’s Best Suburb in the Nation, you can be sure that when you’re not studying, you’ll definitely be living.

See more of what our big backyard has in store for you. oc.edu/v3

WE GLOBE TROT Picture this: you’re relaxing at OC’s own Das Millicanhaus in Vienna, Austria, catching up on your fave professor’s tweets from the Holy Lands, while Skyping with a buddy in China. Sound crazy? It could happen. With more than 20 study abroad and mission opportunities, from Colosseums to Great Walls to Hobbit Holes and back (taking selfies in Paris along the way!), you never know where your OC experience might take you.

China. England. New Zealand. Japan. Switzerland. Australia. Rwanda. Germany. Canada. Italy. Honduras. France. Israel. Austria. Etc. We go there. oc.edu/v4

WE CUT LOOSE This college thing is serious business, and OC has some serious cred. But don’t go thinking you’re on the last train to grimsville. Cutting loose is in our DNA. Spring Sing. Homecoming. Concerts. Intramurals. Ping-pong with the president. Professors flipping pancakes at the late-night finals feast. We push the bounds of how many hijinks you can pull while still learning loads of great stuff. The point is this: When you’re serious about the college experience, like we are, you can’t take yourself too seriously.

Can you cram a year of the OC life into a single YouTube video? Hard to say, but believe us, it’s a crazy five minutes you won’t regret. oc.edu/v5

WE LIVE IT UP We live on campus, and we’re proud of it. Why? Because the college experience isn’t just a 10am lecture hall. It’s an afternoon jam session, a Saturday movie marathon, an impromptu prayer circle in the lobby. It’s disc golf at eight, an all-doors-open hall hangout at ten, a batch of stress cookies at one, and knowing you’ll have company when you start that term paper at two. So figure out who’s bringing the TV and pack your shower shoes, because lifelong lessons, lifelong friendships, and lifelong memories are waiting just inside the dorm doors.

It takes 12 residence halls and 4 apartment phases to contain our students’ awesomeness (as if we can contain it). With fitness centers, lounges, WiFi, study areas, and a laundry app that gives you a ring when someone moves your socks, life’s pretty sweet. Check out your new pad at oc.edu/v6.

WE DOMINATE Have a hankering to paint your face maroon? A penchant for wearing comically large foam fingers? Need to vent some healthy, Christian aggression into a fight song or two? Then get your talons up, because we have a seat saved for you.* 12 sports. 55 national championships. 10,000 fans across the Eagle Nation. And we’re always looking for one more.

*If you’d rather chill with some peanuts, we have you covered there too. Just don’t mind the screaming. (Our president gets a little excited.) oc.edu/v7

YOU CAN RUN AFTER JESUS DAVID BOWDEN WAS THE ONLY CHRISTIAN IN THE ROOM. He wasn’t intimidated. He was inspired. His spoken word poetry brought light into a dark place. His calling has taken him all over the USA ... and to England, India and the Philippines. He’s written poems for Tom’s Shoes and for New York City film premieres. But his work is more than words. Through Give-A-Goat and Wishing Well, he’s helped poor families meet basic needs. David says, “Art and ministry go hand in hand because we were created by the act of creation. God wants us to continue to create.”

David graduated from OC in 2010 with a Bible degree. Hear his poetry and see the open doors he’s running through at oc.edu/v8.

YOU CAN HELP KIDS SMILE ERIC AND GERI COPE AREN’T DENTISTS. But thanks to them (and you), thousands of kids in poverty have healthier teeth. For every toothbrush you buy from Smile Squared (the company Eric and Geri started in 2010), a child in need gets one, too. One of the Copes’ three adopted kids is from Guatemala, and a mission trip there showed Eric and Geri they could make a big difference with a small product. “Simply put, some children don’t want to smile,” Eric said. “We founded Smile Squared in hopes of giving children their smile back.”

Eric earned his marketing degree from OC in 1988; Geri graduated in 1993 with a liberal studies degree. See the story behind the smile and help their cause at oc.edu/v9.

YOU CAN BE THE CHANGE BLAKELY BROWN WAS A FOSTER CHILD. She found her faith at a youth camp. Now, she “facilitates fun and games” as the camp’s recreational director. She gets to see joy on the kids’ faces. She gets to see lives changed … just like hers was. She wants to help kids find families through foster care. And she dreams of running her own youth camp some day. “Why not?” she says. “There are so many opportunities put in front of you, and you can’t second-guess them. You have to take them and run with them.”

Blakely is a family studies major from Denison, Texas. She tells her story and shares how OC empowered her to “be the change” at oc.edu/v10.

YOU CAN BUILD AWESOME STUFF ZEKARIAH MCNEAL LIKES A CHALLENGE. That’s why he’s double majoring in Bible and electrical and computer engineering. That’s why his favorite class is electrical circuit analysis, which he took as a freshman. “Being able to start off with a plan, put it together, and see it actually work is really awesome,” he says. As a Christian engineer, Zekariah is all about building community, too. He’s quick to make friends. And he wants to make a difference as a church planter or vocational minister, reaching people in darkness with the light of Christ.

Zekariah grew up in Germany, California, and Texas before calling Oklahoma home. Learn more about the life he’s building at oc.edu/v11.

YOU CAN BREAK STEREOTYPES DR. LAWRENCE MURRAY GETS A KICK OUT OF MMA. When he’s practicing mixed martial arts or swimming laps in OC’s pool, Dr. Murray is training his body, mind and soul. He’s a Los Angeles native who’s an expert on human behavior, and he left LA for OC because that’s what we do here. Different backgrounds and cultures come together. In classrooms. In professors’ homes. In community. Dr. Murray travels with students on excursions to civil rights landmarks and on mission trips to Ethiopia. “We touch the world through academia, through mission work, and through service,” he says. “Here at OC, education moves outside the classroom and fosters learning on a different level.”

Dr. Murray’s diverse teaching menu includes an Honors Program course on race, class and gender. Hear how he connects with students from all backgrounds at oc.edu/v12.

YOU CAN STUDY GOD IN A SCIENCE LAB DR. AMANDA NICHOLS HAS FAITH. She shares it in her classroom and in OC’s state-of-theart labs. For Dr. Nichols and her students, it isn’t blind faith. Their goggled eyes are wide open as they use OC’s “cool toys” to conduct experiments and get hands-on with God’s creation. “You don’t have to compartmentalize science and faith. You don’t have to pick one or the other,” she says. “Everything is very organized in chemistry. That’s no accident. God put it together for us.”

Dr. Nichols earned her chemistry degree at OC, taking advantage of the undergrad research opportunities OC students still have. See how that leads to success in grad school and beyond at oc.edu/v13.

WE DON’T DIG DEBT Let’s be real. If we all had a money tree, the jump to college would be a whole lot easier. But we believe eye-opening, spiritmoving, life-altering things are in store for you at OC. And money shouldn’t keep you from being where you need to be. That’s why we rocked academia’s boat by freezing our prices two years in a row. That’s why 95% of our undergrads receive scholarships. That’s why we set you on a path to financial wellness through our free SALT program. It’s an investment, but we want your experiences to be wider and your opportunities higher than your debt ever will be.
