BOARD OF DIRECTORS In The History of Norwich, Frances Manwaring Caulkins wrote - in 1874 - of The Free Academy: A magnificent illustration of what can be accomplished by enlightened forethought, persevering enterprise, and large-hearted liberality. It was founded, endowed, the building erected, the library commenced, and the apparatus furnished, by private generosity. From our incorporation in 1854 to today, Norwich Free Academy has thrived because of the generosity of generations of alumni, friends, families and members of the community who invest in the Academy’s mission. With prudent management of the endowment, combined with your annual contributions, the NFA Foundation, Inc. is positioned to provide students and teachers with the tools they need to succeed. Also, each year, the Foundation provides general operating support to continue NFA’s varied academic program while keeping tuition affordable for our partner communities. In every building across campus, all students benefit from your generosity — every student, every building. In 2016-17, the NFA Foundation, Inc. supplied books, lab equipment, instruments, technology access, field trips, benches, art conservation and acquisition and computer software, just to name a few areas.
