This season we’ve taken one creative laboratory, added five evenings of experimental style theatre and need you to make up our intimate audience of up to sixty people. Introduction to Playwriting For writers aged 16 to 25 Are you between 16 and 25 years of age and fancy yourself as the region’s next emerging playwright? Then don’t miss Live Theatre’s popular Introduction to Playwriting course. Through a combination of practical exercises and discussion, participants can discover what makes a great story, how it can be told and what makes a character leap off the page. Whether you’re completely new to writing or just new to writing for the stage, this free course will ignite your passion for playwriting. Short Cuts: The Big Apple This autumn Short Cuts has hopped across the pond to bring you some bite-size plays from New York. In tribute to the city that never sleeps, our theme is APPLE. We’re looking for short and sweet new plays, no more than ten minutes in length, to be performed by four actors. The best entries will be read by our cast on the night. The Big Society For those of all political persuasions who are sick of soundbites and p***ed off with politics after the party conference season, Live Theatre brings you The Big Society on a small stage. Some of our most exciting writers will be tackling the key issues of the day: there’ll be a lot of humour, a bit of satire and maybe a little righteous indignation. Scratch Night Scratch is back and we need YOU. Come and watch snippets of new work by some of the most exciting theatre artists from around the country, including Glasgow based writer and director Kieran Hurley and writer, director and co-artistic director of Greyscale Selma Dimitrijevic, then join us in the bar and tell us what you think. Constructive criticism is welcome and we’ll even buy you a drink to get the conversation going! Previous Scratchers are already going on to great things and we’re thrilled to congratulate Thomas Eccleshare (who appeared in April’s Scratch) who recently won the prestigious Verity Bargate Award for new playwrights.

Live Theatre is a 10 minute walk from Central Station, Monument and Manors Metro Stations. The QuayLink bus service runs every 10 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes during the evening until midnight providing a safe and easy way of getting to and from the Theatre. Parking

There is a car park in the Trinity Gardens complex 100 metres from the Theatre, which can be accessed from City Road and Trinity Gardens. This secure car park is open from 7am to midnight and costs 90p per hour and is free after 5pm. There is limited on-street parking on Broad Chare and additional car parks nearby. KEY
