WORDS FROM

RUEBEN FOUNDATION PRESIDENT

WEIGELT

I want to start this short message with a sincere “Thank You” to all of our sponsors and donors for your support of the ND FFA Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to support leadership development opportunities and activities of the ND FFA and agricultural education. Without your help, our mission would go unfulfilled.

2021 brought some degree of normalcy back to our lives and work. For the FFA, this meant the return of various chapter activities and events and having in-person state and national conventions. We congratulate the 12 ND FFA members who received their American FFA Degree and all individuals and teams who participated in the national convention held in October. North Dakota was well represented and came home with many honors and awards. The FFA members and their advisors should be very proud of their accomplishments. This newsletter provides a summary of those wellearned achievements. We are currently judging the SAE grants, which will provide over $20,000 in funds to support FFA members with their projects. Thank you to everyone who gives time and talent in judging our various program applications. We look forward to presenting over 280 members with an FFA jacket, made possible by generous donors to the Blue Jacket Bright Futures Program in January. The ND FFA Foundation is working on a new event and various other ways to support the ND FFA and agricultural education. We will be excited to tell you more about it soon. We are also looking to grow our endowment fund held with the ND Community Foundation. 2022 is a special year for me as June 8th will mark 50 years since I received my State Farmer Degree at the 43rd ND State FFA convention in 1972. I was proud to be a member of the Fessenden FFA chapter and equally proud to now serve on the ND FFA Foundation Board. Sincerely,

Rueben R. Weigelt,

ND FFA Foundation President

Set your shopping on Amazon Smile to benefit the North Dakota FFA Foundation, just like Tam!

Did you know Amazon will donate to 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases you make directly to the nonprofit of your choice? Meet Tam Maddock, past Foundation team member and ND Ag. Education Instructor. Tam has had the ND FFA Foundation set as her nonprofit to benefit from her shopping for years! “This is the easiest way to support the organization you love,” says Tam. “And, it gives you more reasons to shop!” TIP: Make sure to set up AmazonSmile from both the desktop/online and mobile app. For instructions on how to set this up, visit NDFFA.co/amazonsmile or scan the QR code.

Go mobile like Nikki and donate via Venmo!

Direct your Thrivent Choice dollars®! Your Thrivent representative can help you give back to the ND FFA Foundation through your account. Ben and Bev Farner have been taking advantage of this easy way of giving for years! Speak with your Thrivent representatives today or reach out to Beth Allen with any questions at ballen@ndffa.org or at 701.224.9390.

Giving, supporting and donating to the ND FFA Foundation is already easy, but did you know the North Dakota FFA Foundation has Venmo?! Nikki FideldyDoll used Venmo to make her contribution to the Blue Jackets Bright Futures program easy by simply Venmoing the Foundation for jacket sponsorship! Whether you’re donating $20, a blue jacket, a scholarship or more, we hope Venmo can help make it easy! Simply send your donation to @NDFFAFoundation 10

2

Sponsor a CDE or LDE,

like the Bryan and Janet Strom family!

Do you have an FFA CDE or LDE important to you? Continue to make it possible by sponsoring it! The Foundation works with dozens of families and businesses who want to sponsor specific CDEs, LDEs and events. The 20122013 State FFA Officer team and the Bryan and Janet Strom family have been sponsors of the Extemporaneous Speaking LDE for years! JOIN WADE & LYNN MOSER

TO HELP GROW OUR ENDOWMENT!

Did you know the ND FFA Foundation has an endowment fund?! Managed by the ND Community Foundation (NDCF), monies generated by this endowment are utilized to provide scholarship and leadership opportunities for ND FFA members. The ND FFA Foundation has established a “qualified ND endowment fund” as a component fund of the North Dakota Community Foundation. This fund is a permanent way to support our organization: Earnings from the fund will support the FFA year after year, while the principal remains intact and continues to grow. There’s another great reason to give now to our endowment fund. The North Dakota Charitable Income Tax Credit, passed by the ND State Legislature in 2011, allows individuals who donate $5,000 or more and businesses that donate any amount to qualified endowment funds to receive up to a 40% state tax credit. ND FFA Foundation’s endowment fund is managed as a qualified North Dakota Endowment Fund under North Dakota law. This means that your gift of $5,000 to the FCFA’s Endowment Fund is not only tax-deductible on your federal income tax return, it should also qualify for a 40% or $2,000 credit against your ND income tax liability. If you are in the 30% federal income tax bracket, the net cost of your $5,000 gift could be as low as $1,500 after taking the federal and ND income tax benefits into account. The credit is limited to

$10,000 per taxpayer per year. This means that an individual can max out their credit by giving $25,000 to the endowment and a couple can give $50,000. If you cannot use all of your ND income tax credit in one year, you may carry it forward for an additional 3 years. Wade and Lynn Moser were excited to learn about this opportunity and gave a generous contribution to the Foundation to grow the endowment. “The endowment gives us, and others, the opportunity to give a gift to North Dakota FFA that will last forever. Combine that with beneficial ND income tax credits and it’s a win-win!” says Wade and Lynn. There are many ways to support and grow our endowment fund, including outright donations (that may qualify for the 40% state tax credit), deferred gifts, bequests, memorials, and through life insurance policies. If you would like to help us continue our work forever, please contact the ND FFA Foundation to discuss our endowment fund and the many options there are to support us. You may find out more about this generous tax credit by visiting NDCF.net.

YOUR CALENDARS

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10TH WE NEED YOUR HELP! Thursday, February 10th, is not only Giving Hearts Day, but it’s the ND FFA Foundation’s single biggest fundraiser of the year. The funds we raise on this day help us do everything we do each year. Every dollar we raise benefits the 6,300+ members in North Dakota. We’re so fortunate to have over $15,000 pledged in Match Donations, too. But, to receive those donations, we need your help matching them! On February 10th, please go to GivingHeartsDay.org to donate. Together we can meet our match and continue our programming for North Dakota FFA!

GIVE + RECEIVE

Not only is Giving Hearts Day our biggest fundraiser of the year, but it’s one of the only times throughout the year we come up with, and create, fun gifts for our donors! These items are our way of saying “thanks!” and to celebrate our shared passion for the North Dakota FFA. This year, give at any one of these levels and we’ll mail you your special gift!

GIVING HEARTS DAY

DONORS

These incredible friends and supporters of the ND FFA Foundation have pledged to match over $15,000 of your donations on Giving Hearts Day!
