HOW TO MIX PRINTS AND PATTERNS COMMENT MÉLANGER LES IMPRIMÉS Items from this page available to buy at: WardRobe situated at: SONEL Bonamoussadi Instagram: @wardrobe237

Mixing prints and patterns is not just for the brave trendsetter. All that is required is the know-how as well the right attitude to carry it off. So here we are with our simple tutorials put together to enable you be daring this autumn… Match colours from the same family and not prints If the colours look good together, more often than not the prints will look good together too. Using hues from one main colour when mixing patterns can create a very subtle look, while still showing your daring side. It’s still visually stimulating for the eye, but in a refined way. The simpler and more graphic the prints, the easier they are to mix. This is why stripes, especially black and white stripes, go with everything. They're so simple, they're pretty much the neutral of prints. Graphic prints go great with each other and with more complex or organic prints like florals or animal prints. Spread your prints out across your outfit. It's not that you can't wear a printed jacket over a printed top. You absolutely can. But if you feel like your outfit is getting a little busy, try distributing your prints more evenly by doing one on the top and one on the bottom. Break up the look with solids. If print-on-print-on-print is just too much for you, that's fine! Just layer in some solid-coloured clothes and accessories to calm things down and ground your look. When you add a solid with two or more patterns, you allow the visual space of the outfit to be broken up. Don’t lose your “match” cool! Mixing patterns is supposed to be fun. Although it can look cool, please don’t go out head-to-toe in one pattern. That can be too matchy-matchy and can instead make you look more trashy than trendsetter!

BRENDA BIYA: LIFE OF A PRINCESS Brenda Anastasie Eyenga Biya; the 18 year old teenage first daughter of the President of Cameroon Paul Biya is crafting her online presence with charisma and charm. Being the only member in her family to be actively present on social media, the first daughter is using the platform to brand herself into the definition of a “modern day princess”, one who appreciates the luxury but is also as down to earth and as ordinary as the rest of us. One who can share her inner feelings and also use her mishap as a point of great lesson in her life. When the public thought she was recycling her mother’s clothes, she answered them with a dignified and highly “princess-like” response.

The adrenaline junkie who “literally jumped off a plane” skydiving with her friends by her side is also as girly as the rest of the girls in her age group. Makeup and manicured nails, detox and boy issue to deal with – she broke the internet recently sending online 237 into a mass frenzy many weeks ago when she posted an image of her kissing her boyfriend.

BRENDA BIYA: LA VIE D'UNE PRINCESSE “I'm an overthinker, and I can say it has saved me from a lot. Your mind just uses your surroundings to keep you safe.”

GOING BACK TO YOUR ROOTS?

Comment rejoindre le mouvement NAPPY (Back to your Roots)? Photo by William Nsai

BE NATURAL AND NAPPY!

VAULT MAGAZINE | THE BEAUTY SECTION

@ModeMaisonPR | Page 17

HOW TO CREATE MINIMALIST MAKEUP LOOKS Christmas is around the corner for December kick starts the season of partying and getting down with it. To equip you with the best possible simple tips to enable you put your best self forward, we talk makeup! To achieve a great day makeup, make sure you use a long lasting foundation and a matte finish primer. Use a stippling or a flat top brush for application. For a minimalist look: Apply one layer of foundation and colour-correct any dark circles and harsh dark spots. Apply a hint of sparkly blush or a deep toned bronzer on your cheeks to create colour dynamics and warmth on your face. Your brows need to look natural and slightly enhanced, so apply a deep brown pencil in light strokes just to fill in and create a few more brows to blend in. Use a shade lighter concealer under the arch of your brow to highlight. For the eyes, you might just select 2 eye shadows, one matte for the crease and another with just a bit of a sparkly feature for your lid. Apply mascara and/or a black pencil and optionally apply false lashes (a natural flirty pair of lashes is the best way to go).

For Day To achieve a great night makeup, make sure you use a long lasting foundation and a matte finish primer (Milk of Magnesia would be the best way to go if you are on your way to the club). Use a stippling or a flat top brush for application. Apply the blush shade of your choice and a gold highlighter right on top of your cheeks to create a seeming less glow on your face. It’s night time and you want to look ‘ON-FLEEK’ so you might as well highlight and contour!

Lips are really to your discretion but for a natural finish, a pink matte or glossy hint is always our first pick in the morning.

For Night

Your brows would look stronger and enhanced, so apply a brown brow gel in light strokes to fill in and create a bold brow. Use 2 shades lighter concealer under the arch of your brow to highlight. For the eyes, start with a matte brown on the crease then create a smoky eye to your desire. Apply mascara and a black pencil and apply false lashes. Make a statement with a matte or glossy intensely coloured lip or create an ombre lip with a deep colored pencil.

RANTI ONAYEMI I'm wearing a custom made set with fabrics by Vlisco. As this was a two part set of fabrics, I decided on a peplum style top in the busier print and a pencil skirt in the lighter hue fabric. This look is my interpretation of how my generation can keep African prints alive, keeping it cool and hip and hopefully making our parents proud as the heritage carries on. This Christmas why not go down the sophisticated African inspired look?

RUTH MUKETE For me the dress really fits the Christmas season because it is colourful yet not over the top. It looks like you're the life of the party with minimal effort. Finished off with simple make-up & hair. Tip for dressing for Christmas: When in doubt pick a dress. This is because dresses can allow you to still look cute & sophisticated dressed up or dressed down Stick to one focal colour paired with neutrals. No colour blocking this season Be comfortable; think about all the delicious food you'll be eating. Make sure you're comfortable however you're dressed!

OLIVIA POMMIER Perfect for a sunny climate, this Zara dress works very well to give a simple yet elegant look paired with this Gianvito Rossi heels. This Christmas be who you want to be, be chic, be simple, be you!
