IFA 2013

INTERNATIONAL MEDIA CONVENTION

BERLIN, SEPTEMBER 6 – 11, 2013

BERLIN, SEPTEMBER 9 – 10, 2013

This year’s motto is “All You Can Watch!” and focuses on television on multiple platforms as well as on changing audience perceptions of what television actually is. “Beyond-TV” offerings – either live or with time delays on all devices – present a clear challenge to traditional linear television and will no doubt continue to transform the broader media landscape in the future. What does television look like today? Who is setting the latest trends in TV content? Who is profiting most from these trends? These are some of the key questions up for discussion during the various keynote speeches, podium discussions and screenings involved in the 2013 convention. www.medienwoche.de/en

M100 SANSSOUCI COLLOQUIUM

The IFA is the world’s most important tradeshow for consumer electronics and home appliances. In 2013, the IFA will once again showcase the entire spectrum of new products in these two very innovative and dynamic market segments at its home on Berlin’s exhibition grounds. Among the trends at the 2013 IFA in the field of consumer electronics are smart TVs with increasingly impressive capabilities, ultra HD TV resolution for stunning image clarity, smart devices ranging from smart phones to smart TVs and convertible computers, smart home entertainment with wireless speakers for audio streaming and the comprehensive networking of all home electronics products with one another. This year will also feature established annual events – such as the IFA Keynotes, special areas like the IFA iZone, IFA TecWatch, eLibrary and Usability Park – as complements to the already comprehensive exhibitors schedule. www.ifa-berlin.com

POTSDAM, SEPTEMBER 5, 2013

Today, it’s hard to find too much evidence of European unity in the media. Instead we see images of Wolfgang Schäuble as Gollum; Aphrodite gesturing with her middle finger, the Greeks depicted as frauds, the Italians depicted as lazy, and Angela Merkel in a Hitler uniform. This is precisely why the theme of this year’s M100 Sanssouci Colloquium is “Are the Media Destroying Europe?”. Six top European journalists will examine questions relating to the media’s influence on the process of integration in Europe. www.m100potsdam.de
