WRONG INTUITION?

“Let’s just get you that advanced certification, man! So you are not wasting your dives! I mean, it’s no different than you just going and diving for fun. I will teach you some additional skills, but it’s so much more fun than the open water certification you just completed”, - Mike’s blue clear eyes are piercingly earnest.

My lips settle into a smile. I’m so glad I waited to make any final decisions until after meeting in person. My gut was wrong. Mike is cool. A little fiery and not really patient, but the guy seems to have a good heart. This foundation he keeps talking about… it takes a really big heart to want to do something like this.

My conscious mind gets lost in planning different ways of helping Mike and his foundation. After all, good cause is the drive behind all we do.

“So, let’s set a date. How is Friday for the first dive?” - Mike’s eyes lock on Bobby’s face.

“Sure”, - notes of hesitation that were there just a few hours before, are completely gone. Bobby’s eyes smile.

“Great! Well, I gotta get going”, - Mike’s hand reaches for his phone. A voice from the left makes him pause.

“You know, we want to join in too,” - Andre, who we met just earlier this morning, comes closer to the table. “We’ve been thinking about getting our advanced certification for a while. This seems like a great opportunity”.

A hard to read emotion appears on Mike’s face for a fraction of a second, but disappears before anyone else can make sense of it.

“Sure, sure! Let me get the info you need”, - a lighthearted tone seems to be almost too cheerful now.

Heavy feeling of unease is starting to creep back up from my subconscious mind. My consciousness tries to shake it off. I have to stop overthinking.

Why does it feel so unsettling though?
