Apprenticeships What is an Apprenticeship? All apprenticeships are developed by the industry sector in which they will be used and give students the skills they need to become a craftsperson, technician or manager in that area. Depending on the course, you will either attend College one day per week or on a block basis where you will attend for between 1 and 2 weeks. The remaining time will be spent in the workplace. An apprenticeship is ideal if you know which career path you want to follow, but you don’t want to study in full-time education and you would like to earn a salary whilst learning.

What is an Advanced Apprenticeship? Advanced apprenticeships are similar to apprenticeships but at a higher level, normally Level 3 NVQ and a higher level knowledge based qualification. Some apprentices will be registered on an advanced apprenticeship from day one. These include building services engineering, civil engineering, electrical, facilities management, gas installation and surveying property & maintenance.

Higher Apprenticeships Leeds College of Building offers two higher apprenticeships. Construction and the Built Environment (Sustainability) and Facilities Management. These courses allow students to access quality higher level education at an affordable price. They are ideal for those already employed within the construction and facilities management industries who want to pursue various careers such as construction management, facilities management, civil engineering and building services engineering. For more information on the different apprenticeships available, please contact the apprenticeship team on 0113 222 6023.
