A safari experience that is never rushed, nor superficial.

The Masai Mara, Africa’s quintessential safari destination, is home to The Great Migration, the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra. Tucked away in a stunning valley in the exclusive Mara

Naboisho

Conservancy,

Encounter

Mara invites you to enjoy an authentic African safari experience in a classic tented camp which provides an intimate setting for your journey filled with dramatic wildlife encounters and an authentic connection with the Maasai people.

the camp The classic styled bush camp consists of 12 spacious safari tents nestled into a young forest and positioned to afford views over the rolling plains of the Masai Mara, teaming with wildlife. Each tent has a deluxe king-size bed, a wardrobe and chest; and boasts an en suite bathroom with hot showers, double sinks and flush toilets (not to mention the best bathroom view in the world!).

The choice of day beds on each private veranda and hammocks around the camp entice you to a restful pause as you breathe in the sights and sounds of this breathtaking landscape. With passion for hospitality and attention to detail, we pride ourselves on bringing a little magic into each moment of your stay with us.

Tucked away amongst the foliage, the lounge and dining areas command views of the natural salt-lick frequented by an array of plains game and often the big cats which follow behind.

We believe that safari cuisine should complement the natural rhythm of a day in the Mara. Early continental breakfasts are heralded by a chorus of birdlife as the sun rises majestically over the distant hills. Delicious brunches are enjoyed in the cool shade after an unhurried morning game drive and leisurely ‘high teas’ set the tone for evening activities after an indulgent midday siesta. For dinner, enjoy fine dining beneath a blanket of stars. Evening fireside drinks and snacks round off the day while you listen to the sounds of the African wild.

WILD ENCOUNTERS A day on safari should never be rushed. At Encounter Mara we take you on a journey of discovery through Africa’s greatest wildlife area. Each day gives flexibility as you design with your guide your choice of day or night game drives, bush walks, cultural encounters and sundowners beneath blazing skies. The annual Great Migration, the continent’s highest concentration of big cats and a dazzling array of plains game is on our doorstep.

Our personable guides are all from the local Maasai community and are as at home in the Masai Mara as the very animals they point out to you as you traverse the expanse of the reserve. We believe our guides are the custodians of your authentic experience and their selection and training is one of our highest priorities. Bush walks and game drives are included in our rates, but if you’re feeling adventurous there are many optional extra activities for you to take part in, including hot air balloon trips and authentic cultural visits.

“discover Africa’s greatest wilderness – away from the crowds”

THE PEOPLE Our camp team members are drawn from the surrounding communities and many own part of the land leased by the conservancy. Their sense of ownership and belief in our ethos is evident in their thoughtful anticipation of guest needs and genuine warmth offered to every visitor.

We are privileged, as part of Mara Naboisho Conservancy, to be in a groundbreaking partnership with the Maasai people who are the rightful guardians of this precious ecosystem. Sustainable benefits from ecotourism are being shared, jobs have been created and conservation of Africa’s greatest wildlife area is a reality. The safari experience for visitors to Mara Naboisho Conservancy is world class, a vast unspoiled wilderness away from the crowds and packed with exceptional wildlife. We are passionate about our minimal impact on the surrounding pristine environment. Fully solar powered, no

responsible waste removal and treatment are all essential components of our eco-operations. As well as being key drivers of the community conservancy effort, as a camp we are committed regularly to sponsoring local youth to be trained as guides in the Mara and planting a tree for every guests’ stay.
