WHAT INSPIRES

My inspiration is our Jewish community – our people, traditions, and prayers. That’s why I give to the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Campaign for Jewish Needs. Our strength – who we are as Jews – is about passing kindness and compassion onto others and to our next generation. This is our obligation: to take care of each other as family who live around the corner and across the globe, as we aspire to leave no community member behind.

That’s why I give. But how about you? What inspires you? Whether it’s feeding the hungry, comforting the sick, caring for the elderly, educating youth, ensuring a Jewish future, speaking out for what’s right, or supporting Israel – it’s all happening here. With your support, we are making hundreds of miracles happen every single day, by changing and saving tens of thousands of lives in Cleveland, Israel, and 70 countries around the globe.

DAVID F. ADLER

Please give generously. Our community is counting on you. Thank you for all you do,

CHAIR, CAMPAIGN FOR JEWISH NEEDS David F. Adler

OUR COMMUNITY, OUR CAMPAIGN Every year, our community comes together as one to raise money for the Campaign for Jewish Needs, the annual fundraising campaign that ensures our community’s vitality and vibrancy in the year ahead. This year, we need to do a little bit more.

See our four priorities for the year ahead! CFJN2018_CAMPKIT_Allocations_MINI-MAG.indd 3

by INSPIRED CARING FOR OUR MOST VULNERABLE Compared to other seniors in the U.S., Holocaust survivors are at a significantly higher risk for poor physical and mental health, depression, and social isolation. This is one of our most vulnerable populations. With your support, Federation is a lifeline to basic needs like food, medicine, and home care, plus social interaction and transportation needs – whether survivors are living locally or internationally, our Cleveland community is there to help this vulnerable population age with dignity.

INSPIRED by PROTECTING OUR INSTITUTIONS

Our Federation became the nation’s first faith-based institution to hold a Department of Homeland Security simulation exercise, establishing our training as a potential model for others. With your support, Federation has expanded security throughout Jewish Cleveland. Twelve area police departments have conducted safety and security trainings in partnership with our local schools, synagogues, and agencies preparing us for how to respond in times of crisis.

The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement (BDS) continues to delegitimize the State of Israel, with growing support on our college campuses. We are helping young adults build strong Jewish identities by deepening their connection to Israel through personal experiences and providing the tools needed to stand up and speak out for what they believe in. We are proud to be Jewish Cleveland and support Israel. Together, we stand united. 8 | 2018 CAMPAIGN FOR JEWISH NEEDS

INSPIRED by SPEAKING OUT FOR WHAT’S RIGHT

With your support, Federation launched an Israel Advocacy Fellows Program to train a cohort of Jewish young professionals to work with students and the community to fight BDS. The fellows receive in-depth training with leading subject matter experts to deepen their own nuanced understanding of advocacy while developing the skills needed to train and support others.

INSPIRED by EDUCATING OUR YOUTH

With your support, Federation focuses on educating our community’s next generation of leaders. One way we do this is by providing Jewish camp experiences that bring young Jews together to learn more about who they are. Research shows that when children return home from Jewish summer camp they have a deepened connection to Jewish life and culture, and they have developed new friendships that will last their lifetimes. These connections, to people and community, are transformational.
