iXS European Downhill Cup
Der iXS European Downhill Cup wurde bereits 2008 ins Leben gerufen und trotzdem präsentiert er sich immer noch frisch wie am ersten Tag. In diesem Jahr stehen wieder 6 Rennen auf dem Programm. Jedes einzelne wird ein Highlight. Der Kampf um den prestigeträchtigen Seriensieg wird eine schwierige Aufgabe. Man darf also gespannt sein, wer sich in diesem Jahr durchsetzen wird. Wenn man sich die verschiedenartigen Strecken ansieht, wird ein wahres Allround-Talent gesucht. The iXS European Downhill Cup first took place in 2008, but it‘s still as fresh and exciting as at its first day. This year a total of six races awaits hundreds of riders and each of them will be a highlight in its own way. The competition is strong and the fight for the prestigious title will be far from easy this season. We are already looking forward to finding out who is in the shape to win the series. One thing we already know for sure: it will have to be a real all-rounder, who can cope with all the different kinds of challenges s/he will be presented with at the different venues. 8

KRANJSKA W GORA Kransjska Gora ist der Auftakt der europäischen iXS Downhill Cup Saison. Das erste Rennen ist immer kaum an Spannung zu übertreffen, schließlich weiß keiner so richtig, wo jeder einzelne nach der langen Off-Season einzuordnen ist. Eine Strecke mit ordentlichem Oldschool-Charakter wird knallhart aufdecken, wie der Leistungsstand der Athleten ist und ob vielleicht manch einer die Vorbereitungszeit nicht optimal genutzt hat. This season the iXS European Downhill Cup will be opened in Kransjska Gora. This first race usually is the most interesting and exciting one, partly because of the huge anticipation during the last months, and partly because it is the first opportunity to check out one’s competition after the off-season. Therefore, Kranjska Gora MAY 06.-08. Kransjska Gora awaits the riders with a real oldschool track: fast, hard and extremely demanding. Das zweite Rennen ist dann gleich der Newcomer des EuropacupKalenders. Willingen war zwar die letzten beiden Jahre schon wieder Teil der deutschen Rennserie, aber nun ist es soweit, dass man als Teil des Bike Festivals an frühere Zeiten anknüpfen will. Die ehemalige Weltcupstrecke wird für das Rennen etwas modifiziert, so dass sie trotz der eher geringeren Länge absolut Ernst zunehmen sein wird. The second race of the season takes us to a completely new venue of the European Cup. After two years of probation in the German Downhill series, Willingen will host its first iXS EDC race in 2016 as a part of the Bike Festival. The former World Cup track will be slightly modified for the occasion Willingen MAY 27.-29. and although it might not be the longest course of the series, it is no less demanding COURSE 1650 m | 290 hm – and that’s a promise! SCHLADMINGS Das letzte Rennen der ersten Halbzeit ist wohl eines der Highlights. Keine Strecke wird öfter genannt, wenn es um den Lieblingskurs in der Geschichte des Weltcups geht. Schladming hat in der Vergangenheit nichts an Attraktivität eingebüßt. Im letzten Jahr konnten sich die ehemaligen Weltmeister Danny Hart und Emmeline Ragot als Sieger in die Statistik einschreiben und somit sind es ziemlich große Fußstapfen, in die die diesjährigen Gewinner hineintreten.

Die zweite Hälfte wird von einem treuen Bekannten eingeläutet. Spicak im Böhmerwald ist liebenswert, aber nicht zu unterschätzen. Die Strecke mit unendlich vielen Steinen und Felsen verlangt vollste Konzentration, denn wegen ihrer Kürze werden kleinste Fehler gleich mit einigen Plätzen weiter hinten bestraft. Spätestens bei diesem Rennen rückt die Gesamtwertung immer weiter in das Blickfeld. Es heißt also kämpfen um jeden Punkt! The second half of the season will begin in Spicak in the Bohemian Forest, which definitely belongs to the EDC’s more lovely venues, but should on no account be underestimated. This track includes so many stones, roots and rocks that it demands a rider’s utmost concentration, as every mistake will take its toll. Spicak JULY 01.-03. LES 2 ALPES L Das vorletzte Rennen führt die europäische Downhill-Elite an den früheren Schauplatz des Crankworx Festivals. Im letzten Jahr konnte auf der sage und schreibe 700 Höhenmeter umfassenden Strecke kein geringerer den Sieg einfahren als der spätere Weltmeister Loic Bruni. Wenn man einem Kurs den Titel Highspeedpiste verpassen müsste, dann wäre es wohl dieser. Das wird definitiv nichts für schwache Nerven.
After that the European downhill elite will make its way to the former host of the Crankworx Festival – Les Deux Alpes. Wie auch in den vergangenen Jahren geht es zum Abschluss nach Leogang, aber trotz dass das Finale nun bereits zum dritten Mal hintereinander im Salzburger Land ausgetragen wird, ist von Langerweile nicht die geringste Spur. Der Weltcupkurs gehĂśrt zu einem der heftigsten, er verzeiht keine Unachtsamkeiten und die letzten Punkte fĂźr die Serienwertung werden noch einmal ein hartes StĂźck Arbeit. Wer sich nach diesem Rennen Seriensieger nennen kann, der hat es sich wahrlich verdient. Last but not least, the agenda takes all the riders to Leogang to collect some final points for the rankings and, of course, to celebrate the last European Cup race of the season. It is the third time in a row that Leogang hosts the finals, but it is still far from boring! Der iXS German Downhill Cup ist wohl die erfolgreichste nationale Rennserie der Welt. Die etwa 500 Startplätze sind immer restlos ausgebucht und jedes Rennen ist ein wahres Volksfest. In diesem Jahr feiert die Serie ihren zehnten Geburtstag und umso erfreulicher ist, dass auch wieder die zwei deutschen Klassiker mit dabei sind. Die Absolute Abfahrt in Ilmenau hat ihr 20. Jubiläum und Tabarz geht sogar schon in die 23. Runde. Zelebriert wird dies mit der Deutschen Meisterschaft. It is safe to say that the iXS German Downhill Cup is the most popular and successful national series of the world. Each and every season the races are fully booked in nearly no time and every race reminds you of a festival with all its visitors and its whole atmosphere. And this year it gets even better: Not only does the series celebrate its 10th anniversary, but it also includes two huge events at our favorite German venues with the 20 year-anniversary of the “Absolute Abfahrt” in Ilmenau and the 23rd race together with the German National Championships in Tabarz. 18

iXS Swiss Downhill Cup
Das älteste Mitglied der iXS Familie ist der iXS Swiss Downhill Cup, der bereits 2003 das Tageslicht erblickte. Die alpinen Strecken lassen das Herz eines jeden Racers höher schlagen und wer sich dort behaupten kann, muss vor keiner Strecke auf der Welt mehr allzu großen Respekt haben. Mit Morgins ist das älteste Rennen der Schweiz wieder mit von der Partie, aber auch Wiriehorn ist nach einem Jahr Abstinenz wieder enthalten. Der Abschluss der Rennsaison wird dann wieder standesgemäß in Bellwald gefeiert. The iXS Swiss Downhill Cup is the eldest member of the ever-growing iXS family. Since 2003 this cup inspires numerous riders with its alpine tracks that definitely make every riders’ hearts beat faster. And if you manage to stand up and prove your skills on these courses, you might as well take part in every other race in the world without having to worry too much. This season the cup returns back to its roots with Morgins, before making its way to Wiriehorn after last year’s absence and finally to its traditional venue for the final race in Bellwald. 22

iXS Rookies Cup
Der iXS Rookies Cup existiert nun schon seit 2009. Das Ziel war damals eine Serie zu etablieren, die sich dem Nachwuchs in der deutschsprachigen Region verschrieben hat. Der Cup bietet also Sportlern ab elf Jahren die Möglichkeit an richtigen Rennen teilzunehmen. In der achten Saison besteht die erfolgreichste Serie ihrer Art aus fünf Rennen in drei verschiedenen Ländern. Zum ersten Mal werden die meisten Rennen in Österreich ausgetragen, denn mit Semmering und Saalbach haben sich zwei neue Orte dazugesellt. The iXS Rookies Cup already exists since 2009. It has been our goal to establish a series for young talents of the downhill discipline especially in German-speaking countries. Therefore, this cup provides riders from the age of 11 onwards with the opportunity to take part in real races. In its eighth season it can be seen as the most successful series of its kind, consisting of five events in three different countries. For the first time in its history, most of these races will take place in Austria, with the two new Austrian venues Semmering and Saalbach. 24

BIKE Festival Willingen | Germany The 2016 Ziener BIKE Festival powered by MINI offers once again a lot of highlights. Besides numerous different mountain bike races many additional side events are also attracting both, the young and the old. While last year’s downhill in Willingen was part of the iXS German Downhill Cup, this year’s participants can look forward to an upgrade into the European series. For the first time, the iXS European Downhill Cup will stop over at the Ettels Mountain attracting some of the world’s finest talents to the Sauerland region which will be reflected in a significant increase of the level of riding on the course.
Auch in diesem Jahr bietet das Ziener BIKE Festival powered by MINI wieder viele Highlights. Neben den verschiedenen Rennen gibt es weitere tolle Aktionen für Groß und Klein rund um den Radsport. Nachdem im Vorjahr der Willingen Downhill noch Teil des iXS German Downhill Cups war, können sich die Teilnehmer des diesjährigen Rennens über ein Upgrade in die europäische Rennserie freuen. Zum ersten Mal gastiert der iXS European Downhill Cup am Ettelsberg und lockt beim zweiten von insgesamt sechs Stopps zahlreiche Spitzenfahrer ins Sauerland, die für ein deutlich höheres Niveau auf dem Kurs sorgen werden. Talented newcomers are in the thick of the action. The one and only youth festival in Europe provides the opportunity to get first expierence in races and contests in the disciplines Downhill, Slopestyle and Pumptrack. For the young Downhill whizzes there will be in additional the iXS International Rookies Chamionships. Vom 1. bis 7. August 2016 ist der Bikepark Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis wieder die Bühne für die Champions von morgen. Der talentierte Nachwuchs bekommt im Rahmen des einzigen MTB Jugendfestivals in Europa die Möglichkeit, in den Disziplinen Downhill, Slopestyle und Pumptrack erste Rennerfahrung in entspannter Atmosphäre zu sammeln, wobei es für die jungen Downhill Cracks zusätzlich die iXS International Rookies Chamionships gibt.
