COMMENTS PETER HOSTETTLER, iXS Switzerland “In the nineties we were investing into the national MTB DH discipline with different teams (YETI, Tomac, Diamondback), but unfortunately in the early 2000s the Downhill Racing Sport had a difficult time finding sponsors and venues. So we have founded the iXS Swiss Downhill Cup in 2003 in order give the sport a chance and we obviously used our own brand iXS as its title sponsor. From there things steadily grew. The series continued to develop and today it is impossible to imagine European DH racing without the iXS Cup as we all call it. As a brand and company with its roots in Switzerland we have always been closely associated with racing that actually goes back generations. We are proud to have been actively involved in shaping DH racing for over two decades.” „In den Neunzigern haben wir mit verschiedenen Teams (YETI, Tomac, Diamondback) in die nationale MTB-DH-Disziplin investiert, aber leider hatte es der Downhill-Rennsport in den frühen 2000er Jahren schwer, Sponsoren und Austragungsorte zu finden. Also haben wir 2003 den iXS Swiss Downhill Cup gegründet, um dem Sport eine Chance zu geben, und wir haben natürlich unsere eigene Marke iXS als Titelsponsor eingesetzt. iXS EUROPEAN DOWNHILL CUP The premium series of the iXS family - professional and yet relaxed -

As early as 2007, three races spread over three countries were combined to try out whether a transnational race series would work in Europe. This test run in Scuol (SUI), Leogang (AUT) and Bad Wildbad (GER) was immediately successful, so that the iXS European Downhill Cup was introduced the following season. Since then, the series has established itself as the gap between various national race series and the World Cup. The programme included races in Italy, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Great Britain, Austria and Switzerland. Thus, the European Cup has mainly been a guest in Central Europe, but this will change in its 15th season, because now two completely new places will be added and with Norway, it will go all the way up north.
Bereits im Jahr 2007 wurden drei Rennen zusammengefasst, um auszuprobieren, ob eine länderübergreifende Rennserie in Europa funktionieren würde. Dieser Testlauf in Scuol (SUI), Leogang (AUT) und Bad Wildbad (GER) war auf Anhieb erfolgreich, so dass anschließend der iXS European Downhill Cup eingeführt wurde. Seitdem hat sich die Serie als Lückenschluss zwischen verschiedenen nationalen Rennserien und dem Weltcup etabliert. Auf dem Programm standen Rennen in Italien, Slowenien, Tschechien, Deutschland, Frankreich, Großbritannien, Österreich und der Schweiz. Somit gastierte der Europacup meist in Zentraleuropa, was sich jedoch in ihrer 15. Saison ändern wird. Es kommen zwei völlig neue Orte dazu und mit Norwegen geht es mal ganz hoch in den Norden. 99

Furthermore, the European Cup sees itself as a gap between the various national series and the World Cup. A high quality of racing and a relaxed family-like atmosphere form the framework conditions for first-class action. The geographical scope is larger than ever before, and the new venues will bring some variety into the business.
Der iXS European Downhill Cup wurde vor 15 Jahren ins Leben gerufen und hat schon für viele den Weg zur Weltspitze geebnet. Weiterhin versteht er sich als Lückenschluss zwischen den verschiedenen nationalen Serien und dem Weltcup. Eine hohe Qualität der Rennen und eine entspannte familiäre Atmosphäre bilden die Rahmenbedingungen für erstklassige Action. Die räumliche Ausdehnung ist größer als jemals zuvor und somit kommt mal wieder etwas Abwechslung ins Geschäft.

This year, the iXS European Downhill Cup starts at a completely new location, although it is not an unknown one. Losinj in Croatia has already attracted attention by hosting World Cup races and has already scored points with its unique Mediterranean flair. And because the weather on the holiday island is usually very nice and the sun shines most of the time, the season starts really early this time. It will be interesting to see who has prepared well during the off-season and is already in good shape there.
In diesem Jahr beginnt der iXS European Downhill Cup an einem völlig neuen Ort, wenn auch es sich nicht um einen unbekannten handelt. Losinj in Kroatien konnte schon mit der Austragung von Weltcup-Rennen auf sich aufmerksam machen und punktete bei diesen mit seinem einzigartigen Mittelmeerflair. Und weil das Wetter auf der Urlaubsinsel immer sehr schön ist, beginnt die Saison diesmal richtig früh. Man darf gespannt sein, wer die Off-Season gut genutzt hat und sich dort schon in guter Form präsentiert. 1515

The second race takes the European downhill elite to Maribor. Hardly anything needs to be said about this well-established place, after all it has hosted World Cup, European Cup and European Championship races for many years. The track on the local mountain of the Slovenian metropolis has always been one of the most popular and thus provides several reasons for a top-class race. Although it is still very early in the season, the first tendencies for the series overall ranking will already be set here. It will be interesting to see who will be in a good position to compete for the overall title in the end.
Das zweite Rennen führt die Downhill-Elite nach Maribor. Fast jeder wird diesen Ort kennen, schließlich ist er seit vielen Jahren Gastgeber für Rennen des Weltcups, Europacups und der Europameisterschaft. Die Strecke am Hausberg der slowenischen Metropole ist seit jeher eine der beliebtesten, was ein hochkarätig besetztes Rennen erwarten lässt. Und obwohl es noch sehr früh in der Saison ist, so werden hier schon die ersten Weichen für die Serienwertung gelegt. Es wird interessant, wer sich hier schon in eine gute Ausgangslage bringt, um am Ende um den Titel mitfahren zu können.

The third of five races will be celebrated this year in Semmering, Austria, marking the halfway point. This place made its first guest appearance in the iXS Downhill Cup last year and immediately recommended itself for higher things, so that now the European Cup will stop in the east of Austria. The town, which is only an hour away from Vienna, will open a new chapter for the Austrian hosts with a very interesting and varied track and an optimal infrastructure. It joins the list of previous venues such as Leogang, Schladming and Brandnertal and follows in no small footsteps.
Das Bergfest, also die Mitte der Serie, wird in diesem Jahr in Semmering gefeiert. Dieser Ort gastierte im letzten Jahr erstmalig im iXS Downhill Cup und hat sich gleich für Höheres empfohlen, so dass nun der Europacup im Osten Österreichs halt machen wird. Der nur eine Stunde von Wien entfernte Ort wird mit einer sehr interessanten und abwechslungsreichen Strecke ein neues Kapitel der österreichischen Gastgeber aufschlagen. Er reiht sich damit in die Liste früherer Veranstaltungsorte wie Leogang, Schladming und Brandnertal ein und tritt damit in nicht gerade kleine Fußstapfen. 1919

Arguably the stand-out venue of the season is Voss in Norway. Not only its geographical location high up in the north of Europe is special, but also the event itself. For the first time, the European Cup is part of the world’s biggest extreme sports festival, the Ekstremsportveko. For one week, everything will be revolving around sports that are anything but normal. Boredom is definitely not on the schedule of this event, because apart from the countless competitions, the thousands of visitors are offered a program that makes the cultural heartbeat faster, e.g. the concert by Turbonegro!
Der wohl herausstechende Ort der Saison ist Voss in Norwegen. Nicht die geografische Lage ist etwas Besonderes, sondern auch der Anlass selbst. Zum ersten Mal ist der Europacup Teil des weltweit größten Extremsport-Festivals, der Ekstremsportveko. Eine Woche dreht sich alles um Sportarten, die alles andere als normal sind. Selbst abseits der unzähligen Wettbewerbe wird den tausenden Besuchern ein Programm geboten, welches das kulturelle Herz höherschlagen lässt. Ein Highlight ist definitiv das Konzert von Turbonegro!

The venue for the grand finale of the series will be in Pila, Italy. Situated high up in the Aosta Valley, it will offer a truly challenging track as well as exceptional views of the Monterosa, the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. The former World Cup venue found its way back into the iXS agenda in 2019 and immediately became one of the most popular races on the annual calendar. The attention to detail and Italian cycling craziness will ensure that the event is worthy to be the final race. Whoever ends up at the top of the podium here has truly achieved great things.
Der Schauplatz für das große Finale der Serie wird in Pila sein. Hoch oben im Aostatal gelegen, wird neben einer wahrlich fordernden Strecke auch ein außergewöhnlicher Blick auf den Monterosa, das Matterhorn und den Mont Blanc geboten. The iXS Downhill Cup is probably more like a German series this year. Surely this is still due to the difficult situation of the pandemic-influenced recent past and will hopefully look more international again in the future. Nevertheless, there are some very nice and popular races. We start with the BIKE Festival in Willingen and the iXS Dirt Masters in Winterberg, before the series stops in Steinach, Thuringia. And finally, there are the two classics Ilmenau and Bad Tabarz.
Der iXS Downhill Cup gleicht in diesem Jahr wohl eher einer deutschen Serie. Sicherlich ist dies der schwierigen Situation der pandemiebeeinflussten jüngeren Vergangenheit geschuldet und wird hoffentlich in Zukunft auch wieder internationaler aussehen. Trotzdem sind einige sehr schöne und beliebte Rennen dabei. Los geht es mit dem BIKE Festival in Willingen and the iXS Dirt Masters in Winterberg, bevor es ins thüringische Steinach geht. Und zum Abschluss gibt es noch die zwei Klassiker Ilmenau und Bad Tabarz.

The Specialized RockShox Rookies Cup is returning to some of its original venues after the restrictions of the last two years and will once again deliver exciting moments for the youngsters. Starting with this season, there will be a new class introduced, the U11, which allows two more younger age groups to participate in the competitions. But even though it is a top-class competition, the fun should always be in the driving force. The Rookies Cup is the perfect platform for all young talents to gain their first experience.
Der Specialized RockShox Rookies Cup kehrt nach den Einschränkungen der letzten beiden Jahre wieder an einige seiner ursprünglichen Austragungsorte zurück und wird erneut spannende Momente für den Nachwuchs liefern. Neu ist, dass es nun auch die Klasse U11 gibt, was noch mal zwei jüngere Jahrgänge an die Startlinie bringt. Doch auch wenn es sich um einen hochkarätigen Wettbewerb handelt, soll der Spaß immer im Vordergrund stehen. Der Rookies Cup ist die perfekte Plattform, um erste Erfahrung zu sammeln.

After the iXS International Rookies Championships were paused due to the pandemic in the last two years, this highly regarded competition is now coming back with a bang. This time, on the first weekend in October, the finals of the Specialized RockShox Rookies Cup will be celebrated before the junior classes compete for the championship titles in the most important race of the season on Sunday. For the first time, the Bikepark Schladming in the Region Schladming-Dachstein is hosting this spectacle and with it, the former World Cup venue is ushering in a new era.
Nachdem die iXS International Rookies Championships in den letzten beiden Jahren pausierten, kommt dieser viel beachtete Wettbewerb nun mit einem Paukenschlag zurück. Diesmal wird am ersten Oktoberwochenende erst das Finale des Specialized RockShox Rookies Cups gefeiert, bevor es dann am Sonntag für die Nachwuchsklassen beim wichtigsten Rennen der Saison um die Championtitel geht. Erstmalig ist der Bikepark Schladming in der Region Schladming-Dachstein Gastgeber dieses Spektakels und damit leitet der ehemalige Weltcuport eine neue Epoche ein.
