ERASMUS + SEA OF OPPORTUNITIES Have you ever wondered about the differences between "formal“, "informal“ and "non-formal“ education? Are you curious what is Erasmus+ program about and how it can help you to make a change in your society? Do you want to know what is a project and project life cycle, project management and more? Continue reading to open the gate that will lead you to all of the Erasmus+ opportunities!

DIFFERENT TYPES OF EDUCATION Formal education = schools, universities Informal education = life time process in our daily lives Non-formal education = learning by doing, e.g. Erasmus+

PROBLEMS/ NEEDS/ ANALYSES All of us are very familiar with the formal education, everyone has it in their own countries, but Erasmus+ gives us much more. The program umbrella of European Commission can fund different ideas to help the societies. Training courses and youth exchanges are funded by the KA1 of Erasmus+ under the name “Mobility of youth workers”. The "learning by doing“ education is much more understandable and functional, and... European Commission makes it recognisable by YouthPass - a certificate for the participants based on their own learning success! The problems in our lives are many, but for some of them we can make changes. Analysing the problem and its effects to the society could give us different solutions. By using "Problem Tree“ and "Reverse Brainstorming“ methods, we can visually find what we should do in order to make the change for

Afterwards, we have the possibility to come out with the project idea. Projects are not an easy thing. Their "life cycle“ could help you construct your project in a more successful way. Following the cycle, it’s easy for you to deal with the tasks and to be a good project manager. What is most important is to know what you have to do and when, . Of course, writing a project is the first step, but you also have to find partners, participants, calculate the budget, etc. Don‘t panic - it is not so hard, just follow the cycle!

PARTNERS We are more powerful if we are fighting together to change the world and that‘s why we need partners. You could say that they are the most important thing. There are a lot of NGOs in different countries that can help you and support your idea. You can find partners online in platforms or in Facebook groups, but be careful. Set your own criteria and priorities. Choose your partners by their motivation on the topic, their experience, and their wishes. With good partners every project is much easier and successful.

COMMUNICATION Use everything that you have as a possibility to make connections with your partners: e-mails, Skype, Facebook etc. The more you communicate with your partners, the more reliable they will become. The communication between you and your partners is a must during every stage of your project in order to be prepared for a lot of things: cultural differences, potential crisis and special needs. This is also very important to the project's visibility and effects.

TARGET GROUP Under Erasmus+ KA1 we have the specific target group of young people from 13-30 or youth workers 18-30+. The flow of the project and the results can be adapted specifically for the profile of the participants and the young people who will benefit from the dissemination.

TRAINERS AND FACILITATORS

Non-formal education needs people to make the process work. In the schools, we call them teachers, but we don't use this word in the non-formal education. The people that provide the knowledge are the trainers. They are experienced in the youth field and can bring a lot of information in a entertaining and interesting way. The facilitators are the people that lead the participants during the process of learning. They "lead" the people through their experience and help them find out the solutions of different tasks and do the debriefing at the end of the sessions. Trainer = knowledge // Facilitator = guide

ACTIVITIES, METHODS AND TOOLS In the non-formal education, the information and the skills are shared through the process called "learning by doing". The trainers / facilitators use different kinds of interactive ways to reach the goals of the project: - Wake up games/ energisers, are used to refresh the participants, to make them concentrate and be active during the other activities; - Name games and ice-breakers are used in the beginning, to get to know one another, to feel included and safe, to build one team without any borders between; - Role plays are very effective, since the participants have to be "somebody else", they are starting to think in a different way, and it is very powerful method for understanding; - Presentations are very visual, people can understand much

more through visual material, so that is very useful; - Info sessions are maybe the hardest part. Usually, they are about new information that can't be said in other way. Sometimes it's boring, but needed. Good trainers and facilitators can deal with it! Simulations, creative writing sessions, team games and many others methods and tools are used too. You can find a lot of them online.Â

WHO IS LOESJE? Loesje is a girl from The Netherlands, born in 1983. Together with a group of friends she started her energetic life as a poster girl. On the day she was old enough to travel on her own, she went abroad and now she has friends on every continent. It is hard to keep track of all the posters that are spread every year in Europe and some countries outside Europe as well. She's showing solidarity, initiative and she's being anti-authoritarian, sexually free, decisive, a-religious and independent.
