What is a VASERlipo procedure?

VASERlipo™ is a minimally invasive liposuction procedure to gently reshape your body by treating areas of fat with ultrasound technology. Unlike traditional liposuction, the VASERlipo procedure is tissue-selective, targeting fat while protecting other tissues from damage. This process is gentle on the body and gives patients the smooth contours they want with far less pain and a faster recovery compared to traditional liposuction.

The VASERlipo Procedure How Does VASERlipo Work?
The VASERlipo™ procedure uses a minimally invasive liposuction technology that selectively breaks apart and gently removes unwanted fat.

special cannulas, which help preserve the tissue matrix.
1. The targeted area is injected with a special saline solution to numb the area and shrink local blood vessels. It also temporarily expands the volume of the target area, making fat cells easier to remove.

The VASERlipo Procedure What should I expect on the day of procedure?
Is there a recovery period?
The VASERlipo™ procedure can be performed in a physician’s office, a hospital, or an outpatient surgery center, while you are awake or under general anesthesia. You may experience the following:
After a VASERlipo procedure, patients wear special compression garments to help skin contract smoothly to the body’s new contours. A short period of rest (typically 12 hours) is recommended, followed by two to three weeks of general recovery when strenuous activities should be avoided.

If you are frustrated by the resistance of certain body areas to diet and exercise, and want a fast, minimally invasive procedure with minimal downtime, VASERlipo may be the solution. The VASERlipo procedure is not a weight loss solution, and ideal candidates are not morbidly obese. Realistic expectations are essential. Although there are limits to the amount of fat that can be removed, your doctor can assist you with your decision about potential areas for sculpting, anticipated results and the recovery process.

Commitment to Safety The VASERlipo™ procedure has an excellent safety record; however, it is not without risk. Side effects from the liposuction procedure may include, but are not limited to, temporary swelling, bruising, soreness, numbness (in and around the treated areas), bleeding, scarring, skin contour irregularities and indurations. Potential risks from the ultrasound energy may include burns. As with all surgical lipoplasty procedures, there is risk involved. Potential risks and complications may include, but are not limited to, infection, embolism, visceral perforation, seroma, nerve compression, skin necrosis, and fluid imbalance. The procedure requires anesthesia, which involves its own risks and the possibility of complications, injury, toxicity, and even death.
